  • I think this is the first time Herb sang on a recording since he sang Alley Ooo with the Holywood Argyles

  • Num. 1 song the day I was born. Great tune.

  • This Guy's Not In Love With 22 People...

  • This goes out to Connie from Al.

  • A #1 hit for Herb Alpert on what is now Billboard's Adult Contemporary charts. It was the 106th #1 song on this chart. It also hit #1 on the Top 40 charts and #3 in the United Kingdom.

  • If I could sing that song to a girl I would have anyone I wanted.

  • I'm 20 years old and I've been listening to Herb Alpert for about three years now. I read the comments and in a way I envy all the people that were around when this music was in. It's a shame what music now is. It's terrible. I don't really have anybody to share this type of music with so I'll just enjoy it by myself. I simply love it and I will pass it on to my future kids and they will pass it on to their kids and so on..

  • @MozLuv59 its so true. but people like you will keep these songs alive. I love this song, and I'm only 15, so don't worry. There's people out there that enjoy this music too!

  • Comment removed

  • @MozLuv59 Don't become morose, my friend. I've noticed more and more positive comments by young people who think these oldes are great! Burt Bacharach wrote the music and Hal David wrote the lyrics. Most of their songs were done by Dion Warwick, Jackie Deshannon and Dusty Springfield. Some groups did their music too. My favorite is "You'll Never Get To Heaven" done by The Stylistics around 1972. Don't be too concerned, you'll find that special someone to share this wonderful music with.

  • Simply beautiful!

  • What posessed the 20 people who clicked dislike on this.. ??

  • horrible

  • I love his Tijuana Brass stuff as well, it's so jolly. If I get a bit depressed I put it on and have a dance to it. But this is so romantic, so beautiful. Thanks for posting it.

  • Wonderful song, he sings it so beautifully. xx

  • So beautiful, this song makes you feel like a timeless song, sorta nostalgic feeling of love, or memories across time...

  • Renault Flatulence

  • But this is a music video. I heard that the first music clip came out in 1977.

  • I'M 61 years old now. 1968 seems so far away. Sometimes I will go back and sit on the river bank where Annie and I would sit and watch the water slowly pass on It's way to the sea. It took a part of us with it. A long kiss would seem to stop the river and time, and for a moment we lived in the eternal present. Much too soon she, like that span of river, was gone. I've never loved that way again.

  • That's a beautiful story. Thanks for sharing. My generation and future generations will never be able to understand a world like that. It all seems so perfect.

  • @Duranygirl Thank you for your comment. I often think about what you said. I have found myself at a loss for words. I guess I assumed that what I had experienced would be something that you, your generation and future generations could experience too. I feel sad to think that the world has changed so much that the world I knew is gone forever. Surely, there must be a way to find a simple kind of place and time where you too could experience what I did. With all my heart, I hope so.

  • @OPNURISYDER As i miss 1968 Mexico City's olimpics, and these times.. a lot of nostalgia

  • @OPNURISYDER this song goes under your skin to your heart anyway beautiful!!! I think

sometimes it's better if a love goes away in a special way and we find an other not the same but it's maybe easier to live the life without hurts :)

  • @OPNURISYDER Thanks for sharing that. You're right, no matter how old you get, you never forget a love like that...

  • @Grouchomx Thank you for your comment. Sometimes I feel numb to the feelings I had then. Maybe that's natural, I just don't know.

  • @OPNURISYDER...as a 46 year old and being with my wife since 1986 I cannot imagine how you feel. I am sorry to hear about Annie. What great memories you must have with her....time certainly zooms by and I wish most people would realize how fast life is, May you always have great loving memories and I wish you the very best.

  • @jchez1965 Thank you so much for such a nice comment. I am happy that you have a wife to share your life with. You are still young and have time to make many more memories together. She is a gift that has been given to you and you are a gift that has been given to her. Make every moment special because, as you said, time "zooms" by. I hope you and your wife will be blessed with many "magic moments" that will bring a lifetime of Joy.

  • @OPNURISYDER Awwwwwww!! That really made me cry..........we need more men like you.

  • @zahkuz61 Your comment was very nice. Thank You.

  • @OPNURISYDER You're very welcome..........Now stop making me cry! ;-0

  • @zahkuz61 So sorry......Sometimes I have a tear or two myself.

  • @OPNURISYDER i just love what you have written.I wish one day to be able to love in the same way you did

  • Comment removed

  • @theboathatfucked Thank you for your nice comment. I hope that you and everyone will be able to experience that kind of love. I don't mean to sound negative, but it does seem to me that maybe a love like that comes as a gift that is only given once in a life time. You will certainly know when it happens. You will feel your heart fly away into the heavens, where it is free to dance among the stars.

  • @OPNURISYDER Definitely experiencing that kind of love now at long last.

  • @TheOwl I am so happy for you. This is a wonderful gift that has been given to you. Sometimes it is only given once in a lifetime. Love this special person with all your heart and never let it go.

  • @OPNURISYDER That's a very beautiful and sad story. You were so lucky to find a love like that. Many people never find that in a lifetime. Personally this song reminds me of my childhood and I can still see my dad sing it to my mum. Happy days.

  • @atowngirl50 Yes, I was very lucky. To have someone like Annie come into your life more than once would be asking too much. One of my friends back then told me, "Life is good now. You and Annie share the most wonderful romance I could ever imagine. I thought that what you have only took place in dreams." You and I are both lucky to have a beautiful song like this that can bring back such sweet memories. Your dad loves your mum very much.

  • buena musica (Y) buenaa

  • simplemente bellisíma cancion.

  • wot a great song

  • This is by no means a new song, why would anyone want to bother coming along to see/listen to it if they intended a thumb down?

  • Simply beautiful!

  • que linda cancion¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • This has nothing to do with someone's RELIGION. This is all about the music. What a great love song. I grew up listening to songs like this!

  • Those who post nasty comments are just immature fools looking for attention.

  • beautiful

  • Love this tune, it's great whoever sings it - Burt Bacharach is one of the greatest songwriters ever. My personal favourite version is Noel Gallagher's one.

  • Did she take off in a gust of wind with those false eyelashes?!

  • Beautiful video...I notice Herb had quite a few made by the water.....the ocean, streams....love you Herb....God Bless & thanks for the beauty you added to this world.....thank you for posting it as well..-;)

  • @kiatmac Isn't the woman in the video Herb Alpert's first wife? I think he was married to her at the time. It was the studio's idea to put her in the video.

  • One of the most beautiful love songs of all time. If you want to hear my rendition of this song, click me.

  • We're all on the same road: looking for LOVE.

Love, Love, Love; all you need is love!!!

It doesn't matter how you try to reach God -- just so you keep trying.

The "winners" all end-up in the same place.

It's just that some roads are easier than others. Personally, I cheat - I use the LOVE of God to reach God. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.

Love your neighbors as yourself: LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. (:

  • SUE, THIS CRAZY GUY IS SO IN LOVE WITH YOU, AND WILL ALWAYS NEED YOU LOVE XXXX........YOU ARE SO VERY DEAR TO ME........WILL LOVE YOU ALWAYS XXXX

  • I had never known how great this song was. I just heard it on a collection of songs done for Pirate Radio movie. It's on the CD and sounded great. Nice. I remember it being on the radio all the time in the early 70's. Just never noticed it or the quality of the writing and singing.

  • Amazing!

  • Renalto Fluence

  • @Winterstick549 Burt Bacharach wrote this song and even had to convince Herb to sing it. Hert didn't think that he could pull it off. And to answer your first question, Herb sang a duet with his wife. It was on his "Keep Your Eyes on Me" album. It never got air time at all But this is also a great song. The title of this song is "Pillow."

  • @Winterstick549 Hi..like this song very much 2...composed by burt bacarach ..Burt composed so many nice songs..cheers n happy listening...

  • I normally listen to rock music but Herb Alpert is my guilty pleasure and I regret nothing :-)

  • Comment removed

  • @saxbom Now, what does that have to do with this classic of a materful song by the MAN, HERB ALPERT? I answer. ABSOLUTLY NOTHIN"!! Go back to listerning to Lady Gagme and Justin "Leave it to" Beaver! Only truely mature people allowed.

  • @IRONMANHONDO87 Lighten up Hondo!!! This comment / joke was aimed at those people who mix the fact that timeless melodies have anything to do with the performer's religion or faith while one has absolutely nothing to do withe other. A guy can be from India or wherever and still write a beautiful piece of music. Maybe if you had taken the time to read the other comments, you'd have noticed a connection. I'm an oldies lover myself, from doo-wop to Sam Cooke and from Sinatra to the Beatles...

  • @saxbom My bad. I just as big a fan, if not a bigger fan of the the stuff from back in the day and beyond. I grew up listening to Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin. I'm a pitbull when it comes to the good music. Especailly the true masters like Herb Alpert.

  • awesome oldie

  • really beautiful song, it takes me to a place of peace, joy .. this song makes me excited RealMeteo

  • wow, just discovered a new song. This was before my time but this music is so "sing-along" compared to today's music

  • Music like this is for enjoying, listening to, reflecting on it. It is not meant as a grounds for denouncing or advertising a religion. Herb is great and that is all that matters.

So focus on how great he and his music is.

  • So awesome...

  • eu achei bem massa a musica classica e bonita

  • Is this the only song he sings in

  • How did we deteriorate from Herb to Bieber....

    WTF HAPPENED???????????

    anybody know???????

  • @duhru4real social engineering

  • @duhru4real Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if people could focus on the muscic they're listening to, rather than using it as a prop to discuss their strange obsession with Bieber.

  • A wonderful song.

  • Actually he's a descendent of a famous viking and was born just outside Aberdeen in Scotland, now does that make any difference???? :)

  • It's amazing how people came to this page to hear a good song and they have to nearly ruin it by making hostile comments. I see that happen on so many youtube videos. Great song and vid by the way.

  • I've finally found this song!

  • This song was #1 on the charts the day I was born

  • Great video, a real classic.

But..despite her? Styles do change :)

  • just awesome

  • @abadipioh What's National Socialism necessarily got to do with Jews anyway. Stupid American fuckwit. You wouldn't know what Nazi even stands for. If you are a democrat you believe in the rule of the majority. If the majority doesn't like a minority, then that's just bad luck, bitch!

  • de mis preferidas

  • I remember as a small girl,my father would put all of us[my 9 sisters and brothers] in the family car and take us to Philly to see our cousins,I always knew when we were close..Because we would here this song.We were coming from Maryland. I love this song

  • @abadipioh Jews wouldn't have any music if they hadn't stolen it from other cultures. Almost all of the famous ones have surnames made up of words from medieval German. Without German culture they would have nothing. Haven't seen many Einsteins from North Africa.

  • @aussiechiro Like you need to have your brain worked on. Obviously you are gay.

  • @aussiechiro YOu are a jackass. Why don't you go to stormfront and have fun with the other Jew haters? This guy has a lovely voice and its a lovely song. Cant you jewhaters resist throwing your hatred into every situation that involves a Jewish person? What a piece of s h i t you are.

  • I think hes Buddhist

  • my mom loves this song

  • MY GOD WHAT A SONG, TIMELESS POETRY.

  • @10Tuxedo So true! Summer of 1968...what great memories. This is one of those songs that instantly takes me back to another place and time....a better place and time.

  • i went to see this band for my 8th grade graduation.omg, i am really freakin' old.

  • Yep. It was, But I didn't know "This Guy is in Love" was penned by Burt B. Thanks,

  • I remember this song being released. It opened my eyes that he was not just a great Trumpet player, but a sensitive guy with a sense of vulnerability to sing out his heart..

Great risk worth taking. Kind of reminds me of "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head"

  • @headshrink1 Good ear. I think 'Raindrops' was penned by Burt B. , as well. The man is a tune-smith extraordinaire.

  • beautiful love song 1 of my favs

  • i want this to be the first dance song at my wedding :)

  • Quanta nostalgia di un lontano passato ascoltando questo brano.

  • cheesy. but good song. ...if not.. I'll just die.

  • Fabulous song - I was 14 when this was released and how I would have loved to have been the girl with Herb - he was SO GORGEOUS, and this video seemed like the epitomy of romance to me...whatever happened to that teenager whose head was so full of stars..... I guess she's still there somewhere, just older!!

  • @3moonriver we are so on the same page.

  • @cattime1 Thanks for your reply - lovely to know that there's someone out there who feels like I do! -x-

  • I wasn't even alive when this song came out, but my parents were. This song reminds me of when I was little, and I love it. Music transcends generations.

  • Pamela 1968

    You were stunning

    S.

  • Herb Alpert sang this song first on 1968 television special named..... "The Beat Of The Brass" and in response to numerous viewer telephone calls, the song was released as single and reached #1 billboard on June, 1968 for 4 weeks! This song was written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David and recorded by Alpert!

  • This song just makes you feel fine everytime you hear it.

  • If I remember my music history correctly he first sang this song to his wife,(who was in Brazil '66),on the Andy Williams show.

  • I was on facbook the other day and they have this website you can connect to , to see what song was on the top ten the year and date you were born. Apparently this song was number 1 on the 23 rd of June 1968 , my birthday , and also my mothers 21st birthday. Very sweet song.

  • This song is so very romantic and Herb sings it so so well. One of my favorites by the him and the Tijuana Brass.

  • Got to love a bit of Herb.

  • me encanta su musica, me encanta herp albert he crecido desde pequeo con su musica, burt bacharach, un 10 para herp.....

  • I was only 2 when this came out & it's still a classic

  • When I first heard this on the radio last year, I thought he was saying 'the sky's in love with you'

  • Thanks for posting this video.

Perhaps the most beautiful love song ever written and performed.

If you close your eyes and listen, it takes you away to a magical place.

  • @kh2hbTV to Machu Picchu!

  • @ferchufasola Ya! Machu Picchu!

  • Billboard's 242nd #1 hit of the rock era. God bless! Shalom, Herb!

  • If anybody would like to learn this song on piano i've just uploaded a tutorial for it. Such a lovely song I had to learn how to play it. Take a look if you would like learn it as well. Thanks

  • Story is as follows: Two days before the recording the band got drunk and during a prank gone wrong Herb's trumpet was shoved in a New York Central Park horse's ass so he was really disgusted at the possibility of recording an instrumental so soon and he requested Bacharach for a song with lyrics so his trumpet solo wouldn't last so long that the revulsion would make him puke. Hence this great song. Herb wasn't impressed but as long as he didn't get to taste horse ass longer than needed...
