  • Then the next challenge is to re-compose them using some really sweet sound fonts and make it sound like a serious challenger. ^_^

  • Used a good sound font set to get the midi to sound decent. My favourite version is the CD version. I always thought it was very high quality.

The big thing I liked about Warcraft 1 music was it was very serious and very musical. Warcarft 2, though I like it as well, felt a bit too cheery for the nature of the game and Warcraft 3's OST was too ambient and not enough real 'music' to get in the mood of things.

I agree completely. I love the Warcraft II ost, but prefer the Warcraft: O & H soundtrack.

  • @Kurochan102 on the "sound decent" note, both WarCraft and WarCraft II's soundtracks were composed with the Roland MT-32 sound card in mind (the CD music for WC2 is recorded from one of those), it's sounds became the standard for which MIDI sound libraries tried to strive for (but never reached, as most were strictly sample based like soundfonts), but it did have an hybrid sampler/synthesizer design that's kind of hard to emulate even by sizable soundfonts.
