Je recherche de Carl Philipp Emanuel bach la symphonie en sol majeur Wq173... Merci de bien vouloir m'indiquer si elle se trouve sur YT ?
I search the Symphony in G major Wg173 of C. P. E. Bach... Especially the allegro assai I really love it ! ( I have the CD...but I need for myself !!! Thank's a lot !)
It's wonderful to track down, hear and see this performance after having sung it in a school choir in 1967. Glorious music and front row seats!! Well done to all who took part.
I just TODAY discovered CPE. An acquaintance turned me onto him this morning. I absolutely agree with all of you putting him on such a high pedestal.
And I agree with AdmiralPrussia - what IS the big deal with Mozart? After hearing CPE, this is what classical music is all about. And the depth I don't hear in Mozart.
My acquaintance sent this quote: "(CPE) is the father, we are the children. All we do right, we owe to him. He who does not own to this, is a scoundrel." --- W.A. Mozart
I believe this man lived in the shadow of his father but I think his music is a step above most anything else in many ways I think his music is far superior to mozart which makes me wonder what the big deal with mozart is
...debatable, but Haydn certainly considered C.P.E. Bach a master. I think it also has to do with him having lived in-between major stylistic periods. I love - and play most - all of his music, more than J.C. Bach's or W.F..... but their father, man... impossible act to follow ;-)
I think if his career path had not been stuck in the shadow of his father, CPE would have had much greater stature in the modern world and his music played and recorded more often. Renee G-W
Yes, this is sure. I also know him only because he is my best friends favorite composer and he thinks just like you. He likes him that much that he wrote a transcription of his Concerto in B for organ and oboe (he plays the oboe very good and his friend plays the organ and wants to studie music). So I'm very happy to become more aquainted with this great mans music through your video...
It's a very beautyful piece which shows extremely good CPEs extraordinar way of composing which made him to the great composer he was and which influenced classical music that much. I'm very fond of it. Thank you...

@olimcantaba Thanks for the review. Few people think of CPE as being an important component of our classical musical heritage. RGW
