The Odyssey was able to fire the weapon because they have a ZPM on-board. Furthermore, the ZPM output is far greater than the energy source in the Asgard battleship so the beam weapon is more deadly.

I think the Asgard upgraded their weapon. Because as far as I can remember, maybe I'm wrong here, the Asgard shoots weapons like torpedo in previous episode rather than a straight line of laser shot. If this is the case, it makes sense that the Asgard can beat the Ori warships.
Yeah it was a little weird that the asgard couldn't destroy the ships but when we get their weaponery we can no problem. I think all of the unending episodes were deleted already, but if you keep looking you might find it. im kinda sad that i saw it before they got to it.
I don't buy it that the Asgard are really dead. They probably just faked their deaths so they could start a new civilization far away where they wouldn't be bothered by Ori, Wraith, Replicators or humans. They did destroy their planet, but not before they stored all their minds in their ships' computers. their fleet then headed to a new galaxy to colonize there. they probably did found a cure to their condition and next time we'll see them they'll look a bit different.
