As a frequent performer in G&S (currently playing role of Gianetta in Gondoliers) I have to agree with bundleHastings - it is operetta and in parts very difficult to sing. My school didn't even attempt any G&S because they knew how tricky it can be in places. Kudos to you guys for doing it - I loved the topless addition (but who wouldn't?!). You guys had fun with it - and that's the idea!
Everyone should stop reviewing it like it's professional - it's amateur and done for personal pleasure (:

i was in this musical some years ago and i can asure u that this is not an opera. acting is what i do for a living so i know the dif. and if u think that they r singing opera....(u most be part of the football team.
Haha! Well directed, loved the major general's entry. I agree that its a high song, but this sounded terrible... it was so flat! Samuel's solo was all over the shop, and the orchestra was awful too, but it doesnt really matter matter matter (sorry...) becayse if its just a high school production then people dont expect professional standards, so kudos to them for being generally funny :P
In response to the rather rough comments, I have to say that you are Pirates, and who said pirates can sing very sweetly? We are rogues of the sea and not opera stars!!
This is a fucking musical, the point of being in one is to be able to sing. Also the joke of this show, they're not supposed to be good pirates, more complete failures, which is why they sing this song. YOu fail miserably for making such a dumbass comment XD

I was in the show, and nobody knew that they were going to take off their shirts (the director was mad). . .I had so much fun with it! I thought that they did a great job!
hey, I've known guys on the football team that are actually quite talented in music and other areas. I thought these guys actually did quite good, this is not an easy musical to do, actually it's an operetta which makes it that much harder, kudos to these guys!
Extremely mediocre even for a high school production. Also director plagiarized from Australian production. High notes are so flat its ridiculous. orchestra should be shot!!
So much fun doing that play!! I'm sad it's over though. You guys did a good job with that song closing night, but kinda disturbing. LOL But whatever, we're in High School.
