I do not sympathize with Lindh's supporters nor do i condemn him for being a muslim. In its pure form, Islam is a very peaceful religion. His conversion is what it is. What happened between his short time at the Yemeni Language Center in Sanaa in 1998 and studies at the madrassah in Bannu, Pakistan in 2000 that changed him so drastically? He was 17 when he was in Yemen. A kid. An impressionable kid. He got in way over his head, surrounded by the wrong people when he got to Chichkeh, Afghanistan.

The Arabic word used here for scheme (or plot) is makara, which literally means deceit. I do not sympathize with Lindh's supporters nor do i condemn him for being a muslim. In its pure form, Islam is a very peaceful religion. His conversion is what it is. What happened between his short time at the Yemeni Language Center in Sanaa in 1998 and studies at the madrassah in Bannu, Pakistan in 2000 that changed him so drastically? He was 17 when he was in Yemen. A kid. An impressionable kid. He got in way over his head, surrounded by the wrong people when he got to Chichkeh, Afghanistan.

After that, Lindh remained a silent, scared little boy in the basement at Qala-i-Janghi, praying only to stay alive. Did he help the Taliban? No. Did he help America? Certainly not. Death penalty? At this point I have not a clue of what the real history nor the real story and I doubt that anyone else blogging here does either. Many people just want to believe what they want to based on prejudiced information or someone elses preconceived opinion
