  • @CookieOfTheHousie it says who's singing each song on the back of the album cover.

  • Somebody...Sundazed, Sunbeam, Ace/Big Beat need to reissue this album on cd! With bonus tracks fer shure!

  • This is one tripped out album.........& a hell of a killer song here......

  • The classic trippin song.

  • Doctor, I have listened to this song now,

for 1047 times in a row,

and it is looping in my main brain as we talk.

    Is this unusual?

  • Ahh.... The Field Hippies, some head phones, and a little orange sunshine....heaven!

  • Thank you Sir. I had the original "American Metaphysical Circus" album back in the day until I got flooded out & all of my albums got ruined. I had the band right but wrong version of the song. Thank you for your help! You Tube is GREAT!!!!!!

  • @tonkehar Try to remember the shape of your name .how did the sand get inside of your brain.

  • this is awesome!!!!!

  • Way,way before his time

  • I bought one of those copies

  • Joe Byrd is a true genius. His music will live forever.

  • This album stayed in print for decades and sold 100,000 copies or more, yet Joe Byrd was never paid a penny by Columbia Records.

  • fuck columbia, the cunts made so much money, joe byrd has a chip on his cunt.

  • fuckin a . thanx 4 posting this mate.

  • I thought that I was the only person that ever heard of Joe Byrd.A polital stament for his brother.

  • I thought I was the only person that ever bought this album,or heard of it.Old hippie from the 60's that I am.

  • Believe me, he is still inspiring musicians today. Broadcast, Portishead, me, etc

  • IT TOOK A LONG LONG TIME AND MANY BEATINGS BY POLICE TO CHANGE OUR COUNTRY BUT WE DID IT.Love and peace.Hawk, probably still wanted for something I did in the 60"s

  • Thumbs up, Dude! I was a child, but I was right there, in Haight-Ashbury, in '65 and '67! I KNEW something was going on!

  • TYVM !! Now, if only someone would upload "Mr. 4th of July" from this same album... (hint hint)

  • Absolutely fantastic find!!!!!

Probably the most rare song on the web!

(Up to the end of last year there was only

discussion on this song on the web -

    not the music itself).

  • Thanx for resurrecting the clouds in my closet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is Dorothy Moskowitz singing lead?

  • No, it`s Susan De Lange.

  • I still have that album.....wonder what that's worth??

  • Less now LOL. I have it too.. ;-)

  • classic total classic , love carl

  • Missed the beginning of the track, which was rather arbitrarily lopped off, but nice to remember. Luckily, I still have my copy of the album. Thanks for reminding me.

  • Wow, haven't heard this gem for years.

'Try to remember the shape of your name!'

  • I remember having the United States of America before it was actually ever released, when it was a "dj" release, and listening to the electronic music that Joe Byrd put together, with single oscillators and tape manipulation and yet somehow got a very earthy, real sound out of them. I think he deserves a place in the hall of fame for being a pioneer in synthesizers. And then some really nice orchestrations, like the song "Stranded in Time". Very impressive album.

  • Joe Byrd was a genius, this whole LP is a masterpiece, forget the LSD BS, take this for what it is, an incredible, well put together LP of music whose roots and orgins have nearly no trace. Joe stepped way out of the bounds of the norm here, and it stands the test of time.

  • whoa...this dope

  • FYI - this is on the United States of America CD with bonus tracks. I thought it was Dorothy Moskowitz! I never saw this LP in all my years of browsing used recoed stores.

  • I don't know about anyone else, but hearing that I can't ever come down while I was on acid might not be the most comforting thing to me...

  • to charlesglass0---nuthin' more "comforting" than being "there".....loved it!

  • LSD helped me sober up. Alcohol was killing me and a number of *very* uncomfortable acid trips helped me out of the trap I was in. That was in 1975 and I haven't had a drop since (or any acid, either)

  • Good stuff John. Keep it up!

  • waitintodiewaitintodiewaitintodiewaitintodiewaitintodie

  • This brings back memories that I can't remember.

Any one know where I can score some clean acid?

  • not on the streets but they have some in research labs because lately theyve started research into lsd again.

  • make your own

  • Nah mate,it`s Susan De Lange,Good voice though eh!

  • post some more, plz. field hippies are awesome

  • Folks, take it from me... this is straight acid... late 60's and early 70's this is HOW IT WAS...

  • First heard this in 1969 with earphones peaking on 1500 mics of Purple Microdot! Fab-u-lous!!!

  • I flipped out in the 60's on an ldsd trip lising to this-orange sunshine

  • yea, right...

  • Dig those crazy colors, man. Far out. My teeth are numb. Swirly trails in the air. Orange sky is green at Fourteen and half O'Clock. Feels so good. My feet are a million miles down below somewhere, I can barely see 'em. Goo goo ga joob!
