One of Cameron's great weaknesses is that he always qualifies his remarks. He spends as much time telling us what he doesn't believe as what he doesn't: "I'm not talking about government doing nothing...."

He tries to reassure but ends up sounding like a middle manager announcing the restructuring of a company to the employees. (So yes, a lot of us might get sacked.)
