Just look at Anbar Province in Iraq. It used to be the most violent and pro-Al Qaida place in the country. The U.S. military declared it "politically lost" because no matter how many battles we won the locals would always support the insurgents. But then the locals started working with us and ratting out Al-Qaida members. They also began forming their own defense against them which we funded. Concerning Coffee: Ethiopian invention. articles I Googled suggest that the bean had been brewed locally(Ethiopia) for a thousand years, and Homer (of Greece) may have mentioned it in his writings. It does remain, however, that coffee was popularized to the rest of the world by the Turks, though there was a period where a number of Imams tried to outlaw coffee because of its stimulating effects. Certainly Not an Islamic contribution from the past 500 yrs.

Just look at Anbar Province in Iraq. It used to be the most violent and pro-Al Qaida place in the country. The U.S. military declared it "politically lost" because no matter how many battles we won the locals would always support the insurgents. But then the locals started working with us and ratting out Al-Qaida members. They also began forming their own defense against them which we funded. Now Anbar is much more peaceful and Al-Qaida got the shit kicked out of them there (cont)
