yeah but it's messy, if you won a house in Japan you are typically a wealthy family and usuaully have a maid and better furniture, what's up with these people?
please tell me the address of this house.., where is it ? WOW amazing place!.. hope someday i can visit same like this house... especially JAPAN... ^^...
I know. Its very rare to find a japanese house the size of a 4 bedroom house in America. Only reason why I know that because I saw in a documentary from Japanese architecture.
What a neat home! The first part of it seemed really traditional, and then, as you moved towards the kitchen area, which is really the heart of a home, right?---it seemed more lived in. They didn't have the tratitional Japanese bath though, but wow, what a home. Can you tell me please what the music was? It had a funky beat--loved it! Your videos are great!!!
ah this is soo cool. youre so lucky to get to live in japan!
ive always wanted to go. although that house is extremely spacious compared to apartments in the cities i actually prefer the cramped spaces more. less to clean i think, plus its more cozy. lol i guess thats why i chose the smallest room in our house?
I applied fo it. I went through labo international exchange foundation. Because my exchange was a job I had to go through an interview, but if you want to go there as a homestay for the summer, you just have to sign up
It's a temple for the house, it has insense and candles to honor their loved ones with.
it's also set up like a box so the front has doors (that are open here) and can be closed.
there is a drain area beside the bath or in the middle of the floor.
That's a mystery that is common is a lot of my host families house, I don't think there enough storage for everything, they don't throw things out so often as we do so it piles up.
I honestly don't know. The property has been in the family for HUNREDS of years. They rebuild a few years back. The houses in Japan are fairly expenive - so I'm told - about 500,000 plus
in Yen or what? yo in Canada house are being way too expensive now, like a little house of 4 bedroom was sold at 1.9 million, the house was owned for 45 years.
I will doing a foreign exchange student program at my university in a year. Can't wait to go to Japan for a semester. Then after I graduate, go into the JET Programme and go to Japan to teach English for a year or more. Can't wait. Big house by the way. You got lucky. You didn't have to stay in a small apartment like a lot of other videos I've seen. LOL!
Why did you move around? You were a foreign exchange student right? Shouldn't you of stayed in 1 place while you were there? Thanks for the "good luck".
Does it feel weird moving from family to family? Do you usually get along with the families? Is it hard adjusting to the different families? Sorry for all the questions. LOL!
I know how you feel, when I first got here all my preassumptions about the Japanese got a bit of a vigorous uprooting.
haha yea.
It's the same here to though, people are always surprized when I tell them that their house is either the same size as or bigger than mine back in Canada.
so that is how a japanese house looks like from the inside. i wised i lived in one. they look cool. well there is no bed like the one here in canada. but i think i can get use to sleepping on the floor.

when we see the temple, there is a sign above it.
What is the story there?
What is the reason for the sign, and what does it say?
AlanMolstad 4 years ago
I have been looking at a lot of videos of Japanese homes, and a lot of them sure seem to have a big problem in the kitchen with storage!
It's like the home was designed for an age when there was a LOT LESS stuff in the kitchen.
Some newer homes with lots of kids have yet one small shelf for all the dishes.
AlanMolstad 4 years ago
at 1:47 we see something, what are we looking at and how is it set up?
at 2:45 we see a bath and a wash area, how does the floor drain?
a 3:00 we enter a kitchen, why is everything out?, is there enough storage to hide everything?
AlanMolstad 4 years ago

I'm with a company as an intern so I have to move when I change districts and such for work.
I've lived in Saitama, Achi, Kanagawa and now Chiba.
but if you're an exchange student you normally have one host.

it did at first but then you get used to it.
I enjoy moving because I have a hard time staying in one place for to long :P
I've gotten along with all my families, each on is different but you learn to get along.
no problem about the questions :)

To tell the truth I was in for a bit of a let down when I started to view Japanese homes on YouTube.
I expected the same types of homes as I see in Japanese black and white movies.
In such movies there can be a whole house with just empty rooms.
I guess it would be like seeing a video of my home and expecting to see a cowboy hat and a horse?
AlanMolstad 4 years ago
I know how you feel, when I first got here all my preassumptions about the Japanese got a bit of a vigorous uprooting.

TyraW2686 4 years ago
As you walk around the house I loved the clean lines of the rooms and how everything was put away.
As I watched I kept thinking to myself, "Wheres the mess?"
Then you got to the Kitchen...Oh My Gaud!
AlanMolstad 4 years ago
Ahahaha, You know, Japanese houses have SO MUCH STUFF IN THEM omg, I've never seen just piles of random stuff everywhere before in my life.
however..the house I'm staying in now is pretty clutter free, oh and the last last house.
I've been to so many houses and they are almost the same, just stuff everywhere.
it's like a huge organized mess.
TyraW2686 4 years ago
was it different/ like in what ways is it contrast japanese house and a american house?
jadeAroo9 5 years ago
Hm,
They don't have heating like we do, they have heaters but no furnace...but they do have air conditioners.
The walls are smaller than our (no insolation)
They don't have Ovens, or rarely have ovens.
That house is fairly big, most houses are really small and *close* to each other.
The biggest difference is how the family works and how things are done daily.
TyraW2686 5 years ago
