Worst camera i ever had. AA batteries end after 15 mins shooting in manual. Very bad low light performance. Not a good camera if you want control.

It has really nice quality pictures, like he says in the video.

Although, if you're looking for a camera with magazine worth quality pictures, then I would recommend getting a more professional one. This one's not so fancy, but it gets the job done :)

I read yesterday in Consumer Reports where they rated the image quality of this camera only "fair"???? The most frustrating feature for me is when using the movie mode sometimes I'm so involved in capturing the moment before it's gone or concentrating on getting good composition that I often accidentally hit the wheel dial around the func. set button and that changes to compact mode which totally ruins the size and quality of the video when it is downloaded. NOT GOOD!

Samsung is good, just depends on your own personal preferences. I value the best possible quality image, plenty of easy battery power and reasonable purchase price. I'm satisfied enough (not 100%) with the Canon sx100 is I'm currently using but now looking for something with HD.

I have had this camera for 3 months now and it's great! There are lots of features to make compensations for your shooting conditions. On the film mode you can choose a mode where you can alter your brightness on the fly if you know the lighting conditions will vary (but you must set the optical zoom and do an autofocus adjustment before starting the video).

However, 9 MB is rather large for a processor to digest, so there may be several seconds of wait after taking a picture.

If you are worried about the impartiality of reviews, go to dpreview(DOT)com. They will give the company release blurb about the product, an in-house review, and then open it up to user-written reviews, for every make of camera. There are winners and there are dogs for cameras too, and this site and their rating system makes it clear.

i just got one, and its really nice. Zoom is pretty amazing, nice n sharp, adjustments to your settings like ISO and stuff is really easy and your Photo's look really vivid. The only thing i diddnt really like is that you can't really get a wide angled shot. so its more suitable to take a picture of objects rather than landscapes. Anyway, its a very nice cam. Buy one.

I've got a problem with my camera, for some unknown reason, when I try to record videos, the face detect doesn't seem to work and if I press in "auto" a button the "face select :on" in about 5 seconds it will say "face select : off". As such, while in video position, when recording, the telephoto zoom won't work

arylonne this camera takes superb pictures! I bought it because my manual went bust on me and to fix it was more expensive to get a replacement digital camera. I wanted something that would deal with good quality pics if I was in a hurry but also something that I could manually manage if I wanted better quality.

it makes wonderful pics and the x40 zoom is SUPERB, almost unreal for something that is built in!

I tried this camera out at my local Staples, and I am highly impressed. The noise detection with this camera is remarkably low, the image quality is spot-on, and the thing has aperature/priority/manual priorities. I love it!

I'm saving up for it right now. I'm an intern photographer at a church conference that I attend annually, and it will be PERFECT for the photographs that I take!

I bought this after weeks of freaking out over which is better,this or the TZ5. After some serious thinking(rationally)I got the SX110 and couldn't be happier. This is the shit! For real. Flash recycle was slow until I put in the SanDisk UltraII SDHC card. Now I can take continuous shots with the flash on, one after another no problem. I chose this over the TZ5 cuz you have full manual control when ready for it,or can use auto mode and get great shots. I recommend. Get Eneloop(SP?) batteries.

I am looking to buy my first digital camera and think I like this one. I love the canon brand, very good qualit, but does anyone think this is a bad starter camera if you dont know how to adjust the manual functions and want to start out on auto for indoor/outdoor pictures?? It's a tough call between this and the panasonic tz5.. but hear that one is prone to too much yellow and/or green in shots taken. Any suggestions?

For SX110 if you want to learn more about camera there are Tv,Av and M mode to use and learn more about cameras.

For TZ5 if you are just happy snapping,the intellgent auto work great! Panasonic have the best auto mode so far i have tried.

I may got it now; it seems like I can zoom optically but only photos' not movies.

Which would be fine, provided I shoot nature video clips and when have a nice view I can take some close-up photos and add them to the video clip in WMM. Its funny, until I've asked in here, I couldn't figure it out on my own, but I did it afterwards.

rml, If you're buying the camera just to shoot videos, I'd suggest getting the Kodak Zi6. It's a camcorder, meaning it's built to film, and it's almost half the price of the SX110 IS.
