  • This soup is the best! I've made it a couple of times now, including last night. I was thinking I could make a Cauliflower Soup using this recipe (instead of potatoes), but can you suggest another a cheese, instead of Gouda, that compliments Cauliflower?   • @toymachinerooster I was wondering the same and i tried it, the milk won't add the same thickening effect but it can be equally delicious and the butter flour and cheese thicken it maybe just add a splash of milk for colour.

  • Very nice recipe! I love how it can be used as a base for another meal, too. I took leftovers from this and poured it over chicken, rice, and veggies. Baked in the oven in a casserole dish and yum! My husband used it over breakfast burgers. They were really good!

  • @kakmobilis no, it will break when you boil it. You can thicken the milk with the roux and then add it if you want, but you will still have a soup that tastes like milk, cream is better.

  • I made this recipe so fast, after seeing the video about 2 hours ago I realized I had everything but celery to make the soup. We actually have real Gouda cheese, Dutch Garden Smoked Gourdam made in Holland. Funny Barbara bought it for a recipe and we use it all the time when something calls for cheese.

    The soup is very good, will be going into the rotation. I wanted to make a soup this week, so there you go. I will have a cup ready when Barbara gets home.

  • man gouda cheesee its getting to the top of world best cheese out there im fro sweden and they eat gouda often here right now but some of them is very high on fat there is low its deppeneds of witch store you get it in

  • If you do not want any nutritional value at all, then this is definitely the way you dice the potatoes (getting rid of all the nutrients in the skin by cutting the skin off)

    You won't really taste the onion. Its flavor compliments the soup! =]

  • @favi23v man, you must have a hard time doing a lot of recipes if you dont like onions. Onions are an extremely common ingredient...I suggest you force yourself to like them.
