I dont think Lesnar does anything in UFC like he did in WWE. I mean in WWE he would pick up guys and toss them around like they were ragdolls its also rehearsed and you know who's going to win..........the moves are done in a way to LEAST hurt you. When they do a german suplex they try to slam you on the a part of your back thats pretty strong.
I don't know much about MMA yet so I will have to be careful, I don't wanna sound like Sharon Stone when she talks about politics. Thought if I had a vagina I would certainly show it for ££££. Anyhow I am really getting into MMA and have the roundtable to thank. Nice one guys I love that the show is more than just wrestling. Take it easy.
I don't follow the UFC or MMA at all and I haved hated Brock since his debut in the WWE. But I am kind of interested in watching some of his fights now, its going to be hard, but I may have to take a break from you guys just to see this stuff. Also will there be a Kimbo Slice V Brock match ever, I have seen Kimbo on here from his old beat the shit out of dumb asses in the street days and enjoyed it.
your right. definitly hasnt earned it yet. i think brock might wreck him right now.. but a year from now? maybe not so much. i think kimbo will soon be one of the best. the one to beat
Come on, it's obvious UFCs main events have become a "work." Faces and Heels are the new thing in MMA. Lesnar plays this perfectly. Dana White loves him going crazy after the match. People talked about them even more
And not to mention the most important connection, Pancrase. It was technically Pancrase, not the ufc, that was the first mma organization, and its rule-set were influenced by pro-wrestling, specifically the attire the fighters wore in Pancrase.
Generally, mma fans, pro-wrestling fans, and fans of both still don't realize the connection that has always existed between mma and wrestling. Many of PRIDE's Japenese fighters were former pro-wrestlers. Just look at Kazushi Sakuraba (one of my fav fighters). He was the first successful pro-wrestler in mma way before Brock came along. Ken went to the wwe after his first period in mma. WWE helped promote ufc in the early era. Rampage's slams are influenced by his early love of pro-wrestling.
The strong style in Japan prepares alot these guys for mma as they get used to being potatoed. Many guys who are in the japanese wrestling orgs have credible wrestling and judo backgrounds.
These guys are wong.. Lesner was 2-1 not 1-1 coming into the couture fight and beat herring for his second victory.. Herring previously beat Congo before that so based on ranking, Lesner shot up to top ranking Heavyweight level
Look at guys like Mark Kerr,Mark Coleman,Matt Huges, and Dan Severn who DID beat Ric Flair for his NWA world heavyweight title.A great wrestler, with the right amateur trianing CAN flourish in MMA. In the ring, they used the style they were most comfortable using, later, they modified it with MMA moves that worked FOR THEM.I see great young lions like A.J.Styles and Dolph Ziggler and Morrison, they could easily have been good,if not great MMA fighters, they still can, just like Lesnar and BobbyLashley
Wow mir got pounded bad, he seriously might want to go to the hospital to get checked out he really got a bad whoopin. Your talking about a huge man pounding you in the head for about 10 seconds...
That Cosby impression was funny as hell! That aside, Brock has proven himself and if all he had was his size he would'nt even have been considered to fight in mma. He's the ultimate fighting machine in the devision and his success wasn't a given cause look at his competition. I agree with rountable, the fans really need to swallow their pride and realize the true talent in Lesnar.
Did u guys catch the video of Rampage dry humpin sum cute chick during their interview? Funny as hell, but weird simultaneously... and for the ppl who thought this was a wrestling show and naggin bout UFC talk, wrestling is incorporated into MMA, y'know (see: Matt Hughes, Rashad Evans, Matt Hamill, Randy Couture)
Haven't yet, but soon enough! As far as wrestling being incorporated in to MMA, of course those are amateur wrestlers and they used amateur/greco-roman techniques but the people nagging mean pro wrestling of course. But not only do pro wrestling & MMA share the same common origins, with the way Jonny "Bones" Jones fights, we'll see pro wrestling moves soon enough, heh. But what about the reverse? Lots of wrestlers incorporate MMA. Danielson, Angle, Samo Joe, UWFI, etc.
Well you have to consider the timing of the rise of MMA & UFC; at his physical prime, MMA was banned almost everywhere so it would've been dumb. But, hypothetically, if he was 10-20 yrs. younger NOW, then of course it'd be smart... he'd destroy the HW division. I'm sure everyone fears/respects 'Taker in the back for a reason.
My fav part of Lesnar being champ is hearing all the "hardcore" MMA fans bitching about how a "fake wrestler" won the championship. The funniest thing to me is Lesnar proves how similar the MMA business is to the "fake" wrestling business. Also, I think there shouldn't be a SHW division in MMA. Who the fuck is lesnar going to fight? Butterbean? 1 fighter doesnt justify a new weight division in my opinion. Keep doing what your doing guys. What happend to the ropes in the backround? that was sick
Naah it's not similar... he was a national college wrestling champion... that is a VERY good base for MMA. That and he is used to taking punishment from WWE (it's scripted but they take some punishment).
i was a fan of MMA since 1997, and i was a fan of wrestling since 1995. And in terms of Fedor, don't expect the UFC to be signing him anytime soon. Dana doesn't want any 30 second fights, especially by submission. Cuz' remember, as huge as MMA is, most are the Spike Tv, TUF crowd. The 'TKO/KO crowd'. Please keep up with your MMA videos. For as shitty as mainstream pro wrestling is becoming, MMA will be IT for the foreseeable future.
I'm still not a Fedor believer. Is he dominating? Yes. But his level of competition hasn't been as high as it could be either. Catching a lucky shot (yes, a LUCKY shot) against the glass-jawed Arlovski is one thing, but having the skill and conditioning to take on Lesnar, Mir, hell, even Nog now (Fedor beat him twice in 06 I believe) would be a challenge. I hope Dana signs him so he can either silence his critics or prove us all right...hell, feed him Gonzaga first, then test him against Lesnar.
Fedor 's level of competition just look his list,Ricardo Arona,Tsuyoshi Kohsaka,Renato Sobral,Semmy Schilt,Heath Herring,Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira,Kazuyuki Fujita,Gary Goodridge,Mark Coleman,Kevin Randleman,Mirko Filipović,Mark Hunt,Matt Lindland,Tim Sylvia,Andrei Arlovski, that's 5 past ufc heavy champs could be 6 soon , 4 k-1 champs a silver medal winner in there too and that just some of the people , who else fight's people of that class ? no-one that who !!!!
hey guys great show love it!! im a huge fan of both wrestling and MMA but since were on the MMA topic .. i know this show was all about brock and mir and im saying brock will win via tko in the 2nd round.. but if anyone is gonna get ufc 100 because the comments of this show .. get ready for the fight of the night between GSP vs Alves .. i am much more looking forward of seeing St Pierre vs Alves.. Love to hear who you thinnk will take this fight ... ????
Thanks a lot! Actually, I'm flying out to Vegas Sat. for UFC 100 and plan to do a BLOG on the trip. I can't believe I'm going to get to see SUCH a great card ; Brock/Mir is the biggest fight of course, but Jonny "Bones" Jones is awesome, can't wait to see him fight, and GSP is the fuckin man. Couture picked him to win, and we all know how accurate his picks are, heh, so I'm going with Couture on this one : GSP!
PS: what the HELL is an "interim" Heavyweight champion? I know what interim means (obviously), but I've been trying to figure out why there should be an interim champion....was Lesnar unable to compete or something?
The whole "interim" went down like this... Randy was the champ obviously, but there was a brief fallout between Randy and the UFC in which Randy (still the champ) left the company for a while. So with no HW champ active, they needed to have an 'interim" champion to fill Randy's spot. In which Frank Mir won by beating Big Nog.
Randy Couture was unable to compete so UFC made another belt. When Randy was able to compete again, there were two champs and both of them lost it (Brock beat Randy, and Frank beat Nogueira), now you're caught up.
I'm sorry, but for any smart mark MMA fan to not give credit to Lesnar is just stupid. The guy is a beast whether he was a wrestler or not doesn't matter. The fact that he is the World Heavyweight Champion says a lot, and even if he doesn't beat Mir coming up. Mir will definitely know who Brock Lesnar is since he has improved so much.
As a wrestling fan, yes, I am proud that a "rassler" like Lesnar is the UFC champ. The point is, people diss pro wrestling because of stupid WWE shit. They don't see athletes, they see clowns doin stupid shit like D-X or John Cena. It's fake shit for kids. Add to the fact that they don't got access to ROH or pureresu, the only "rasslin" news are steroid shit in the media, and thus Americans have this limited perception that "rasslers" can't be serious competitive athletes.
haha, not necessarily ;) Just talking about the stereotypical 'die hard MMA fan' who take their fandom to ridiculous levels. I don't 'get' or care for Affliction's clothing style at all, but if others do that fine, it just seems like for the people I was referring to it's part of their dress code. Besides, you post on our videos all the time, I know you're down ;) heh
My thing is the whole "Did Lesnar even deserve the shot?" thing is irrelevant :The fact is he won. When he left WWE , I was a little pissed at him, but Im glad to see him succed. For everyone who tries to undermine Brocks cred, all I can say is beat the man. great show again guys
first off great vid, a few things. Number 1 with Brock/Randy, Brock really didn't deserve it, but Dana figured it put asses in the seats, so ok understandable. 2 Randy's age and absence did play a factor, because if Randy was a little bit younger he would have either gone the distance or beat Brock. 3. My prediciton is that this wil be a ground war rather than stand up with Mir winning. 4. Fedor will beat Barnett and we might possibly see Fedor in the UFC. All in all good job guys.
no problem. it's nice to hear a MMA discussion from time to time. but i also like your guys' wisdom of pro wrestling as well... the funny thing with Fedor is who in your mind has what it takes to beat Fedor, because honestly I don't think Lesnar has it or even Mir could stand a chance.
Thanks a lot for the compliments firstly. Secondly, a lot of people are saying Barnett has a chance to beat Fedor, but really, people were saying the exact same thing about Arlovski and we know how that turned out. Frankly, if Mir or Lesnar fought Fedor, my money wouldn't be on either of them. I have no idea who could beat Fedor. It could be anybody, or nobody :)
But I'm just wondering what do you think about Bobby Lashley his MMA record is 4-0 I know it's not the UFC but Do you think Lashley will be in a UFC fight in the next year or so & do you think the UFC would put him in a fight with Lesnar right away I mean if you think about it the match sells it self I would like to see it
I dont think Lesnar does anything in UFC like he did in WWE. It is very nosiating hearing this hypocritical stuff:
"Brock can't make it into UFC, he's WWE fake wresting."
*after winning the belt*
"Oh, that's because Brock took amateur before going into the WWE."
I think Bobby Lashley is more of a victorious Pro wrestler to MMA person.
Brock is near 50-50 on record (I forgot his record) Bobby's 4-0 and he clocked ppl who were teasing him with the wrestlign stuff.
I say to MMA>pro wrestling marks shut up, watch the damn fight!
