the only thing i learn from this song is that the parent has their own reasons, the child has also their own reasons.. most of the time this is the reason why there is a falling out between father and son or parents and offsprings... In the end, it's a perfect picture of what is going to happen one day when a parent realizes that their son or daughter is already someone they wanted them to be, but is afraid to admit so... sad,.. really sad

Absolutely beautiful song and one of my favorites. Personally, the video would have been more powerful if it showed the interaction between a middle aged father and his 18-20 year old son rather than between a grandfather and his granddaughter. After all, the song is called father and son. But I do understand that the dynamic the song conveys can apply to any relationship between two people; it's just odd that they didn't choose to focus on the father/son relationship in the official video.
