Speed Racer became an epic show for us fans to watch. Then the live movie came in and took it up not one notch but several notches in my opinion. I LOVE BOTH the anime and the movie and I will continue to watch them for the rest of my life.
I personally like the movie, but they changed some aspects and some parts were just too bright and color, and could've toned it down. Spridal was immensely annoying throughout the movie, i sometimes wish they watered him down a little.
I can say theo nly thing that made this really good was the last race and the acting. but the antagonist were also pretty dumb to.

Saw the 2006 (or so) Speed Racer movie. It has excellent writing, excellent storyline, excellent cast. My only complaint is the reverse of most complaints one hears about CGI movies these days: the CGI looked too fake and over-the-top, way too fast, and could not make out what was happening, but the story was strong.

I know it's supposed to be fiction and all but i believe the Wachowski brothers took a bit tooo faaaar! Some people came with wrong expectations about the movie because of the Wachowski Bros. This is not like a Matrix film. I really liked the visual style of the movie and it also shows that the Bros. are good in a wide variety of styles.
On the contrary, I believe the movie didn't do as well because it wasn't true to the show. And the show isn't stupid. If you look past it's obvious flaws, the show is actually very good!

From a huge SpeedRacer fan, i did not think the movie did the animee-cartoon justice. The race scenes were to similar-repetitive and did not show the race-track enough nor did it demonstrate realistic-cool car effects.
SR is a great experiment which bends and breaks a lot of cinematic rules and has a unique style and vision to it. You need to see it with an open mind, not expecting anything to catch its refreshingly unique style. Its a dificult mix: family movie, based on a 50yr old cartoon, shot and edited in a specific way and with a look of its own. Its not going to suit everyone, but for me is an instant classic. Wish more movies where this daring in profit seeker-stick to what works-Hollywood.

I totally loved the 1st Race. Speed haunted by the ghost of his older brother Rex. Awesome the way all the early scenes were tied to that 1st race,the most emotional race of the movie in my opinion.Yeah,the movie was mostly geared to kids from maybe 6-13,but the first 40 min. or so(mostly everything surrounding the 1st race),worked perfectly for adults.If that race didnt get you choked up,then its pretty much guranteed that you wasted your money & that this movie is not your cup of tea.

TWO - The Speed Racer Movie ROCKS! All these complainers have no souls. NO it's not the same, it's something NEW, and it's VERY true to the original, and it's better in lots of ways. Watch it and judge for yourself, don't let others decide for you, you've got to try!

a commercial for the speed racer movie hurt my eyes so bad. i'm picketing the opening of the movie. i want to hurt them like they hurt me. i know if i call fox and complain they wont acknowledge or do anything. my only option is to increase awareness. i'm going at them with everything ive got. i'm hurting right now. the pulse really hurt and seemed to fuck with me somehow. it was extreemly bright. i cant fully explain it but it is very upsetting

SR is a great experiment which bends and breaks a lot of cinematic rules and has a unique style and vision to it. You need to see it with an open mind, not expecting anything to catch its refreshingly unique style. Its a dificult mix: family movie, based on a 50yr old cartoon, shot and edited in a specific way and with a look of its own. Its not going to suit everyone, but for me is an instant classic. Wish more movies where this daring in profit seeker-stick to what works-Hollywood.

They were thinking that it was gonna be a great movie. And it IS. It's an awesome movie, my favorite ever! Why do people always go like, "This movie sucks" when they haven't even taken the time to actually see it. You can't say something's bad if you know nothing about it. Speed Racer rules!!! =D

I totally loved the 1st Race. Speed haunted by the ghost of his older brother Rex. Awesome the way all the early scenes were tied to that 1st race,the most emotional race of the movie in my opinion.Yeah,the movie was mostly geared to kids from maybe 6-13,but the first 40 min. or so(mostly everything surrounding the 1st race),worked perfectly for adults.If that race didnt get you choked up,then its pretty much guranteed that you wasted your money & that this movie is not your cup of tea.

TWO - The Speed Racer Movie ROCKS! All these complainers have no souls. NO it's not the same, it's something NEW, and it's VERY true to the original, and it's better in lots of ways. Watch it and judge for yourself, don't let others decide for you, you've got to try!

a commercial for the speed racer movie hurt my eyes so bad. i'm picketing the opening of the movie. i want to hurt them like they hurt me. i know if i call fox and complain they wont acknowledge or do anything. my only option is to increase awareness. i'm going at them with everything ive got. i'm hurting right now. the pulse really hurt and seemed to fuck with me somehow. it was extreemly bright. i cant fully explain it but it is very upsetting
