  • I agree with you... OH MY GOD!

  • I believe the tow line was too short and the tug was maneuvering quite fast, that makes the drifting barge pulled the tug instead....just my opinion.

  • "We should get in our kayaks". What a fucken puff.

  • that why women shouldnt drive boats bahahahahahahaha

  • Thats my dads boat. We just landed in england at the time. A man was stuck inside an air pocket for a few hours, and nearly got brain damage.

  • Hi,

    When did this happen?

  • its called "tripping" the tug boat was tripped for some reason. the barge CANNOT go past the tugboat cuz this will happen. maybe the tug lost power while traveling at a steady speed. this applies to regualr boats as well the same thing can happen.

  • @roley33 I noticed only one of the twin screws was turning as it capsized so my guess is one engine lost power and it didnt have enough to keep the towline tight and prevent the barge from overtaking the tug

  • upsidedown diesel engine runs mutch faster!!

  • yup there called narrows for a reason....why i have odds on where some of the tugs passing infront of my house if they go seachelt inlet or salish sea way lol most are salish, must be fun for the gravel pit tugs comin outta seachelt too lol

  • lol...the rescue boat...

  • those diesels were fuckin screamin before they self destructed.

  • That's because they're using the sump oil as fuel.

  • @eJaCuLaT0rZ only one was screaming,, if you notice only one prop was turning as it capsized and since there was no longer any water resistance , naturally the prop began spinning faster and the shaft bearings began to burn, then the packing in the stuffing box, and my guess is thats where the smoke is coming from

  • My charts say the middle of the deepest channel in Skookumchuck Narrows gets as shallow as 11 m.

  • WTF/!!!!

  • Go Dave!

  • Nice camera work... Kept action in frame no shaking... Awesome shoot! Thanks for posting!

  • o my tug

  • I cannot believe that the guy on the barge was more concerned with asking a guy to tow the barge rather than assist his crew in the water.

  • Yes Dave is a hero.

  • Demshitz are dipshits. What kind of sad pathetic people would choose to film for profit rather than go help people in trouble. At least 1 of you has some integrity and courage.

  • @Remsta01 Maybe they only had the one canoe there ?

  • I always wondered what the underside of a tug boat looked like.

  • MOBILE PHONE

  • Dave's a hero, he actually helped... It's sad no one else did? Just want the money for the tape... It's really sad to know people would let someone die when they have boats and the means to help.... I'm assumeing you had more than one yak, according to what you said. When God asks you why you didn't help? Just say I was running the camera and didn't care about anything except money.... I hope it was worth it..

  • The tug boat driver had a real issue with the current...Maybe he should have cut power and righted the boat. Those barges are a lot of mass to turn at that speed.

  • @highvelocity123 true that i work on a tug located in sechelt and went to eggmont to do a job even at high tide the chuck moves fast the slightest wrong turn and ur done in there

  • "we might have to go save these fukers" hahah

  • 0:26 - we should get in are kyacks! Me: PTTT Yeah dont think you can tug that boat with those...wait...oh.

  • haha, i love how the guy says "Who should we sell this to?"

  • Fricking r-tards why not call for help like the coast guards, instead of going omg omg wasting time!

r tards r tards! hope your on the next boat to sink,

  • Whats the roaring sound after the tug tips? Love the guy who jumped back inside while it was on its side.

  • @adamswindells1 Diesels will run on their own engien oil. When the engine goes upsidedown, oil runs from the valve cover, through a breather hose, into the intake and the engine just runs away until it blows up, siezes up, or whatever.

  • And brought to you by Kelloggs! The man cereal!

  • 0:55 I thought at first the noise was another boat going out to help but then realize it's one of the tugs engines over revving like Hell.

  • Why he did not push on the side by side like I this ferry

    watch?v=kf0kRCje7xI

  • Dave has motor muscles! I need to do somthing with my fat ass!

  • fuckin hate kyacks and burtinstocks!

  • Dave IS Chuck Norris

  • right on dave...

  • We should be in our Kayaks dude. No, you should already be in them paddling out to rescue the people. shame on you. You had your chance to be a hero and you blew it. Lame!

  • OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

Holy Shit.... Did you call anyone to help? You guys sound really stupid.

  • wow - just shows you how incredibly cowardly people can be

  • Selfish bastards ,saying Oh my god ,its everybody,s god you moron.

  • People could be dying, but just wanted to let you know my buddy has the carbonlite 2000 kayak, the acme kevlar vest, and i apparently have no soul....

  • I seen this on the travel channel. The guy Dave in the Kayak was brave and a hero.

The guy with the camera pissed me off with his cowardliness.

  • I think Demshitz should be DIPSHITS for just watching like a weak, ball-less, pussy of a man! Shame on you! Get out there and do something! Reach down, find your family pride and think of someone other than yourself! That goes for YOU too!!

  • it didnt just sink, it was the tug master messed up with his tow lines, the tug pulled over by having lines under hull, bad error by pilot

  • Dont visit demshitz.com

  • Beter a Kayak then the beach you fucking prick Lazyboi ya i agery with you Covey at leest one of them is worth prase but the one's that just sat on the beach fuck them.

  • WTF are you going to do in a Kayak?

  • meanwhile two stoned fucktards sat there and filmed people fighting for their lives...

  • Is this the same Demshitz I met on the Futaleufu in Chile last year? Phil Coleman's kid?

  • looks like a hovercraft upside down

  • I don't think the tug was sinking. I think the captain was trying to repoint the barge but it had too much momentum going and the higher cleat on the barge pulled on the lower bollard on the tug and just rolled it right over.

Notice how watertight the tug was AFTER it rolled over.

  • Like the Poseidon Adventure!

  • Fucking trucks..

  • I think you guys just staged this so you could spam youtube with yer paddlin boat plugs. How damn low will some people, and boats, sink? I still think Gordon Lightfoot wrote the song before the boat sank.

  • i love that kayak save the day

  • What good is a guy in a kayak gonna do to help tugboat crew. He must think he's one of the baywatch.

  • the guy taking the video is sooooo high........ lol

  • Well done boys glad no one was hurt!

Finding your way home is so important!

    Let me guide you their....

    Mike McKillican

    Remax of Nanaimo

  • Oh snap. Someone's getting sued to hell for that!

  • Yeah, everybody vote this down because of the mutha fuckka's text logo all in the middle.

    -- faye kane homeless brain

  • 1st fucktard: "We should get in our kayaks maybe dude."

2nd fucktard: "Yeah we might have to save these fucks!"

REALLY?! You two are completely fucking worthless. As fellow mariners you have a duty to help those in distress, not stand by and make stupid fucking comments. I hope a tugboat runs your sorry asses over and the crew puts the video of it on Youtube. See you on the water.

  • unexpierenced crew most likely, too high speed of the towing barge and a too tight turn.

    results as shown

  • Holy crap, I was out fishing when this happened, we heard the emergency call. Shit and damn, we were SO relieved when the guy got out safe. This is fucking nuts to see it on video.

And seriously, your watermark sucks shit, jesus.

  • "oh my god! oh my god! oh my god! oh my god! oh my god! oh my god!

we should go use our kayaks to flip the boat back over dude."

"nah let's just stand here and watch and not call anybody so we can upload this video with an annoyingly terrible watermark right in the middle"

"ya, I like that idea better"

  • Uuuuhhhhhh, should we save them yea probably, could we use our kayaks? I font know could we? Maybe... You try it...I don't know... 30min later, I guess I could help... O he drowned my bad...

  • goddamn dude, put down the fucking camera and go help.

What the fuck is wrong with you?

  • Oh dude. Wow dude. Hey dude. Oh my god dude. Holy shit dude. Fucking potheads. And move that fucking watermark! Assholes!

  • at least your friend Dave did something you waste. You should be ahamed of your self for being so vane and complacent

  • the tuging adventure

  • anadian stupid

  • dumbas

  • That Makes me happy that the guys safe :)

  • I would shit myself if I was on that tug boat.

  • @mlinnane100

i think every normal human would do it

  • @vibratingstring

Good advise. Indeed I stopped watching at 00:37.

Just wonder why somebody wants to spoil a perfectly good video with your name tag. It's called 'vanity' and it's one of the seven sins...

  • Good job Dave!

  • Incredible footage! It's amazing the tug didn't sink, and interesting how the props keep spinning. Kudos for going to the rescue AND keeping filming.

  • The strength of poly lines is crazy (assuming that's a poly line not a wire).... That boat completly had to roll for that line to part I'm glad I work on a steady river

  • awsome that had to be a very pricey loss

  • I couldnt help but notice the guy on the kayak was movin along pretty good

  • stupid captain should of pressed the winch release button.he was up on top of the wheel house why didn't he press the button to release the winch line?

  • I know where this is, I'm not actually that far from where this happened!

  • Nice work there Dave, your a super hero, and as a proffesional mariner when i see those little kayaks i'll always remember this incident. good on you buddy.

  • omg dude

  • Cause Demshitz is the shit, and they saved some dudes lives. Nice sponsor plug! Haha!

  • The Thomas Hebert didn't trip, it got pulled under stern first. Something caught the wire and and pulled it right down. I talked to one of the men that survived it. None the less its a horrible feeling being trip! Trying to climb out of just you bunk is harder then you'd think. Then everything in the boat flying from one side to the other. while water finds its way in, and you trying to find your way out. It's a horrible feeling!

  • "we should maybe get in our kayaks..." Nah F*** it we'll keep filming.

  • Hey. Just a general "fuck you" for the title on the screen.

  • uuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmm....ummmmmmmmmm.ummmmmm.......

    Oh ya, CALL 911!!!!!!

  • Tug trip it's happens more than you think. A Holly Marine tug out of Chicago had it happen a few years back on Lake Michigan. This is also pretty close to what probably happened to the Thomas Hebert off the NJ coast. I can think of a half dozen others where the tow got away and either rammed the tug or tripped it (Lauren Castle comes to mind). That's why articulated (buldworth, hydracon) tugs are becoming more popular.

  • 0:55 I nvr heard a diesel do that b4.

  • @1987FordMustangGT it was calling to its friends to help it...... theyre coming

  • Nice Save Dave ! You saved a Life !

  • several things could off happen ,lost steering, going to fast ,should off had a little more tow line so he could off swung around the barge, the longer the towline the harder to control the barge ,but sometimes you gotta way the odds

  • Dave to the rescue..... with the small boat?

  • thats some scary shit i work on tugs and they can go through hell and back but that was for sure the most fucked up thing i have ever seen way to go dave you just saved those guys lives that was amazing footage

  • @randomwhiteguy8784

hey what company you work for on tugs? hit me up with a p.m. if ya dont mind

  • i know that tug.had twin Detroit's in it.nice tug.hope everyone was ok.

  • When she fell behind the bow of the barge the wire was pulling her sideways and capsized her. Called "girding" in the trade, an everpresent danger for tugs.

Couldn't agree with you more, micktuggy.

  • Mercenary fuckers. Who can we sell the film to? Split the money? Just shows how the mind of the North American works.

  • Holy crap. I hope everyone was ok.

  • What caused it to flip ?

  • the site you advertise there is shurely one i never will visit.

    Stupid as hell

  • Go paddlers.

  • hahah "who should we sell this to".

  • lol. the insurance company! haha

  • Why does this poster need to put his sad "territioral mark" smack in the middle of the screen?

  • @taasit to make sure you never, ever ,ever, visit their website......stupidity in advertising at its finest.

  • @taasit

Because it is *his* video footage. Don't like it, don't watch it!

  • @taasit

    i didn't even notice it

  • very grate

  • REST IN PEACE TUG BOAT

  • My company just sunk a tugboat. it was raised the same day and will be back up and running in 6 months.

Tugboats cost to much money to let them stay on the bottom :)

  • @ioneth: How did it sink? Capsize?

  • @donaldengine9 from what I know it was a malfunction and the barge pushed it over on the side then it filled up with water and started to go down.

  • Comment removed

  • i hope natilie is okay :O

  • yeah its made out of fiber glass thats why it wont sink but cool video

    Where did you film it?

  • @alerios667 A fiberglass tug? I think not.

  • the boat wont sink it is made so that it cant sink

  • Wow! Really?!? It won't sink?

That is the dumbest comment I have ever read. That boat could sink like a fucking stone!

  • well it got air rooms thats why not mate

  • i don't think so,

it should've been done veeeeeeeeeeeeery professional :p

but the comment's are realistic too, and other boats are going to the sunken boat too. so, i think they do it for a reason ;)

  • why fake? it ws real1

  • its not fake you idiot

  • fuck you would I punch you in the teeth and call it a kiss?uuh no. this video is no lie

  • Hey Dave, nice work on the kayak. But please, can you place your watermark somewhere else. Do you CNN putting their watermark across the anchorman's face?

  • next tide check the tide chart first, unless the tug just lost power but deosnt look like it cause props were still spinning.

  • by that one guy naming all those companies i bet he just got free ish for life!!!!!!!!!!!!! nice thinking

  • lol story like that gets a man instantly laid

  • i wonder why that lobster boat did not help the people in need they could go to jail and be fined for that against maritime law

  • your watermark fucking sucks

  • I like ole Dave but that's ONE UGLY kayak!

  • What amazes me is that no one on the barge or tug seem to be wearing lifejackets. If this water is as dangerous as people are saying in the comments, surely lifejackets should have been a must!

  • life jackets are not required to be worn in transit they only need to have enough on board for everyone

  • i was just reading about this in professional mariner last night. good video. unfortunately this accident could have been prevented if the mate had put out some more wire and not let the barge get too far off to the side of the tug. classic towing tripping the tug scenario, good thing all crew members made it out.

  • to tell you the truth jlivingston from the opinion of a lifeguard, kayak instructor and experienced boater in these waters(and present the day of the incident) by staying on shore jared allowed for one less person to be in need of saving. and your right dave is NOT a hero those men were not going anywhere and were with their vessel (where the coast guard recommends you stay) and with two larger vessels in a close proximity dave was only risking his life unnecessarily.

  • I don't even know what to say about Jared, the kid who shot this video. Sadly he represents many people. Fortunately, so does Dave- who, incidentally, isn't a 'hero', he's just a decent human being responding to another human being in need. As we ALL should, instead of impotently standing there feeding inane dialogue to a camera.

You didn't need to risk injury, Jared, you just needed to paddle 100m. Your camera has become an obstacle between you and the world. Put it down and get in the game.

  • can't handle the truth, thumbs downer?

  • still one question, why was he towing on such a short line whitout a winch or towing hook???????

  • viva la kayaker !!!

  • here the roar of the one turning diesel running on lube oil for 30 sec! starts at 0:41!!(grey smoke and sudden stop!) at1:16

  • Ouch!

  • Good thing you manned the video camera instead of going to help rescue! real good on your part. I hope you need help one day and I have a video camera to watch!

  • de pot verweid de ketel dat hij zwart ziet!

  • one question , what could he have done whitout a boat?

he couldend do anything, his mate went to the rescue, he was just there at the richt moment!

    nice vid!

  • Well that one to give up you skipper license!

  • what did they do with the tugboat after that?

  • Too fast... the turn radius of the towed vessel was larger, a huge mass pulling the cables and stern sideways.. sad accident..

  • avoidable if he had used more wire!

  • Comment removed

  • WAY TO GO, DAVE!!!

  • :O The engines were still running! I guess the captain couldn't turn them off in time! That sucks how they flipped!!!

  • yup, we got him to the hospital and he is just fine.Even got a nice bottle of crown for our efforts thanks NAT

  • did the guy trapped inside live?

  • wow, that is as real as it comes. holy.

  • Comment removed

  • "Who should we sell this [video] to?"

    lol

  • ABORT! ABORT! ABORT!
