  • haha i love this song, but it almost sounds like tubular bells at the start

  • this helps so much! it makes the song seem so much more simplistic! THANKS!

  • Hey, A big thank you. I tend to play by ear rather actually know which key goes with which finger. I think because i'm not as visual, i this has helped : ) So Thank You : )

  • I don't think this is quite right. There is a sustain in the right hand and emphasis in theleft hand which create the right effect. I started playing as shown here, but if you listen to Michael Nyman, and how it should sound the melody in the right hand is different, distinct and relies on the emphsis as shown in the music. Not easy!

  • Thank you! my parents bought a keyboard. i have wanted to play this for years. You made a difficult song look more simplified...give or take, i had to keep replaying...i am eternally in your debt

  • Thanks for the fingerings :)

  • Thanks hasserudi, very helpful ! I always wanted to learn this song despite not being able to read music... this is awesome.

  • if you love this, you MUST watch the video of "Let There Be Light "!!... it's a song by rock noir band BELLADONNA and MICHAEL NYMAN and it's based on this music from "The Piano". Michael Nyman himself plays piano on it... search for "belladonna nyman" here on youtube and you'll find it!! :-)

  • There were some notes that I couldn't really understand on the sheet how to play them properly. This helped a lot, thank you :)

  • can u go slower please step bt step i learnt 5 songs that way im only 13 and i realy love this one!!!!!!!!!

  • I've never taken a piano lesson in my life and I've actually managed to learn this thanks to your video :)

  • Can u do it slowly please?

  • you made several mistakes, so it's no help for me. Other tutorials are much better.

    Thumbs down.

  • TOO FAST! HARD TO LEARN!

  • Can you do it slower please!!!

  • thanks! that really helped a lot! that right hand is just so confusing in this song.....

  • la adoro!!!!!! muakk hermosisima

  • 練習の参考に大変役立ってます。

  • this is soo helpful thank you!!!! I can read music i'm just very slow due to a thing called irlen syndrome which alters the way i see things so i have to look twice which sucks when u have a fast paced peice to play. I had learned how to play the piece it just never sounded right (only using right at the moment) I know realised i was getting a bit fuddled with a few of the E notes now and again. Thank you for this. was wondering if you could do together so we can learn that. Tah Lauren x

  • eurghh#!! this is liike really hard! I really REALLY wanna jsut eb able to play it! but things take time i guess! dayym, i wanna be this good!!

  • You have just shown how complicated a "simple tune" really is...let alone the bass part....well done.

  • @lainna18 I agreee with you, but I have lysdexia also and it's not hard to learn to read music, assuming you actually take a class, but this is just as easy and fast as reading the music for the most part, that assumin you know how to play the piano well already, and yes the lysdexic thing is a joke(I really am dyslexic though. :3

  • I agree with your statement and I too read music. However not everyone wants to take the time to study the sheet music. For some people this way is faster for them.

However if you are so against it why are u watching this and bothering to comment.

  • I commented because I clicked this video not noticing the "right hand" part in the title, thinking it was a performance of the piece.

  • @robin scott93

    Well then that's understandable.

I actually learned this song a while ago when I was like 14. I bought the entire collection of Michael Nyman's sheet music online.

If u like this song then u should also check out Rue des cascades. I also have the sheet music link on my page. It took me a day to learn the song and the 2nd day to master it. U might like it.

P.S. on the last page there are errors from whoever transcripted it. So you'll have to look it up and learn the last part.

  • @dalymc. Do you have some sort of problem? I think you failed to read my replies. I refuse to communicate with an illiterate moron. Feel free to down-rate this comment. :)

  • ur brilliant! Thanks!

  • It isn't that hard to learn from this video, thanks for uploading...

But I'm not very good at the piano, so i wonder... How am I supposed to put the right and left hands together?

Perhaps you could make another vid, both hands combined, at a slower pace?

  • This is helpful, thanks :)

  • Great... it helped me a lot... Thanks

  • exactly what i needed.

  • thanks you !

  • Argh it's breaking my balls trying to figure most of this out. Way too fast dude.

  • i agree but, its very hard to play a song without proper practise at the instrument theres not really a cheats ways.

  • When I first learned this song I learned it by myself by ear. It sounded good, but no where near the sound of the professional version. This tutorial after 15 minutes has helped me so much. I've got a lot of work to do! Thank you so much

  • damn u play fast at times

  • THANK U SO MUCH :D

  • Really good but it wasnt much of tutorial cus you wer just playing it not teaching . I had to do all the hard work and learn by ear .

    thanks anyways :/

  • good one. There are some mistakes and that makes maybe hard to follow this "tutorial".. But good ears make it easier xD

    thnx!

  • Maybe next time you could play it a little faster so it's even harder to follow what you're playing. Sorry, but this video is anything but a tutorial.

  • That´s not fast.. if you can´t follow, if your ear doesn´t work well... don´t blame the player... it´s a very good tutorial... it´s great for people who are starting. It´s slow but it keeps the rythm... yes, there are some mistakes... but they are a few...

Don´t say "this is anything but a tutorial".

HASSERUDI: Great tutorial!! Hope you can make more of them... it helps a lot of people who wanna learn specific songs ;).. keep it going!!

  • LOL

Nothing wrong with my ear... with your brain, however.

You wouldn't know a tutorial if it hit you in the face with a baseball bat.

  • Hihihihihihihihi!!!

It has some mistakes... but don´t say that to a person who is giving you a tutorial for you to learn... with mistakes and everything, it´s a nice job and I´m glad that there are people who can help others like this.

  • LOL

You are cute, you know that?

Well, I'm glad that some people are helped by this whatever-you-wanna-call-it video, but I personally think it's unworthy of the name "tutorial". Message me, and I'll show you what a good tutorial looks like :P

(a piano tutorial, that is... *grin*)

  • This may not be the best tutorial, but I could learn the song just by watching it. That is the definition "tutorial" Piano in general is hard work, if you can't keep up than take some actual damn piano lessons and stop bitching to everyone just cause your brain is to slow to keep up.

HASSERUDI: Keep making videos like this! it was hard to find a tutorial that was good, a few pointers though for next the light from your window makes it hard to see the notes ur pressing, other than that great job

  • Dear little 17-year old snotty boy. I don't remember addressing you at all, so where you get the idea that you may direct your insolent cry directly at me is beyond me. As your message does not stem from a need to share an opinion that is even remotely perspicacious, please go away and come back when you have something to say that is worthy of my time. Va t' en, petit gamin, je pense que ta maman vient de t'appeler. Temps d'aller au lit, hein?

  • if you want a slower version find the one in my favorites it's close up and much slower, but this isn't really that fast. maybe ur just slow.

  • Oh and your French is pretty terrible.

  • LOL - KILLER comeback. French is my mother tongue, and unlike you, I did not learn to speak English or German by watching daytime soaps. Your profile is riddled with errors, and you obviously used an online translator for the French and German drivel you wrote on it. Way to go, numbnuts. Du hast keine Ahnung von Tuten und Blasen,

Are we done? I'd love to carry on this verbal smackdown but I fear its finer and more sentient points would be all but lost on your moronic, birdbrained little mind.

  • Mwuahahahaha, Krazykatie bitchslapped you good . I'd quit while I was ahead if I were you, Jessie... not that you ever were ahead. She owned your ass. Sorry. :)

On a lighter note: Krazykatie, this video should help you in learning this song. I agree that it's not a tutorial, really, but if you listen to it often enough you should get the hang of it. Good luck!

  • Comment removed

  • @krazykatie2006 Actually, I think this tutorial is helpful rather to those who can already play the piano a little, and not the very beginners. You can call it whatever you want - I am not a pro, but with practise I can play this song better and better, and it is thanks to this video. So, THANKS HASSERUDI!

And for those who think it is too fast - you can use the play/stop button and watch it step by step - it really works!

  • i can't thank you enough.

  • This is SO helpful!!! Thank you!!! I just wish I could play both hands.... T_T

  • i love it! would be easier if slower though =(... my hands are too short too play well or fast enough =(

  • damn i wish my fingers were longer =(

  • tytytytytytyty so much =D

  • If only you could've gone a lot slower it would've been a little bit easier to learn, but it did helped somewhat.

  • too fast hard to follow :(

  • YOU are fantastic!!!!!

  • is evry note played with another when your playin it with both hands

  • Nice job, and thanks for this, hasserudi, I've been using your right-hand tutorial for weeks (and weeeeeeks), working on it, working on it. I'm having a bit of trouble around 1:16 onward, because I'm not sure which left hand parts go with which right-hand parts. Any suggestions? ;) Thanx in advance!

  • your fingers look really nice

  • Thank youuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!! I have learnt the first notes!!! I have the music sheet too, but seeing your tutorial has made things much easier! :-)))

  • brilliant lessons for this song :D

now,any ideas how to make my hands play it? :P

  • thank you. well I can tell you how I learned this song. First get the melodie of this song in your mind. practise several times a day, but each not longer than 10-15 minutes (otherwise it could be very frustrating if it doesn´t work)

So you learn the song step by step and thats the way I learned the song.Good luck!! :-)

  • hey good vid!im glad someone who can play this actually has an intune piano!

i noticed if scfoll back andfoth in the vidio, you can see the sun moving!
