Hey, A big thank you. I tend to play by ear rather actually know which key goes with which finger. I think because i'm not as visual, i this has helped : ) So Thank You : )
I don't think this is quite right. There is a sustain in the right hand and emphasis in theleft hand which create the right effect. I started playing as shown here, but if you listen to Michael Nyman, and how it should sound the melody in the right hand is different, distinct and relies on the emphsis as shown in the music. Not easy!

Thank you! my parents bought a keyboard. i have wanted to play this for years. You made a difficult song look more simplified...give or take, i had to keep replaying...i am eternally in your debt
if you love this, you MUST watch the video of "Let There Be Light "!!... it's a song by rock noir band BELLADONNA and MICHAEL NYMAN and it's based on this music from "The Piano". Michael Nyman himself plays piano on it... search for "belladonna nyman" here on youtube and you'll find it!! :-)
this is soo helpful thank you!!!! I can read music i'm just very slow due to a thing called irlen syndrome which alters the way i see things so i have to look twice which sucks when u have a fast paced peice to play. I had learned how to play the piece it just never sounded right (only using right at the moment) I know realised i was getting a bit fuddled with a few of the E notes now and again. Thank you for this. was wondering if you could do together so we can learn that. Tah Lauren x

thankyou! :D very helpful, i've actually been tryin to learn to read music for years now but due to dyslexia havn't managed to grasp it yet no matter how many hours I practice. Things like this are really helpful for people who cannot physically read or learn to read sheet music. Its isnt really cheating, its just an alternative method of learning.
@lainna18 I agreee with you, but I have lysdexia also and it's not hard to learn to read music, assuming you actually take a class, but this is just as easy and fast as reading the music for the most part, that assumin you know how to play the piano well already, and yes the lysdexic thing is a joke(I really am dyslexic though. :3

It annoys me when I see people trying to learn pieces by watching hands playing it. It is far quicker and easier in the long run to learn how to read music notation. It's not that difficult. It would take me hours to learn this piece by watching this; it took me about 2 minutes to play the first page of the sheet music for this when I first saw it.
I agree with your statement and I too read music. However not everyone wants to take the time to study the sheet music. For some people this way is faster for them.
However if you are so against it why are u watching this and bothering to comment.
I actually learned this song a while ago when I was like 14. I bought the entire collection of Michael Nyman's sheet music online.
If u like this song then u should also check out Rue des cascades. I also have the sheet music link on my page. It took me a day to learn the song and the 2nd day to master it. U might like it.
P.S. on the last page there are errors from whoever transcripted it. So you'll have to look it up and learn the last part.
@dalymc. Do you have some sort of problem? I think you failed to read my replies. I refuse to communicate with an illiterate moron. Feel free to down-rate this comment. :)
When I first learned this song I learned it by myself by ear. It sounded good, but no where near the sound of the professional version. This tutorial after 15 minutes has helped me so much. I've got a lot of work to do! Thank you so much
Maybe next time you could play it a little faster so it's even harder to follow what you're playing. Sorry, but this video is anything but a tutorial.
That´s not fast.. if you can´t follow, if your ear doesn´t work well... don´t blame the player... it´s a very good tutorial... it´s great for people who are starting. It´s slow but it keeps the rythm... yes, there are some mistakes... but they are a few...
Don´t say "this is anything but a tutorial".
HASSERUDI: Great tutorial!! Hope you can make more of them... it helps a lot of people who wanna learn specific songs ;).. keep it going!!
It has some mistakes... but don´t say that to a person who is giving you a tutorial for you to learn... with mistakes and everything, it´s a nice job and I´m glad that there are people who can help others like this.
Well, I'm glad that some people are helped by this whatever-you-wanna-call-it video, but I personally think it's unworthy of the name "tutorial". Message me, and I'll show you what a good tutorial looks like :P
This may not be the best tutorial, but I could learn the song just by watching it. That is the definition "tutorial" Piano in general is hard work, if you can't keep up than take some actual damn piano lessons and stop bitching to everyone just cause your brain is to slow to keep up.
HASSERUDI: Keep making videos like this! it was hard to find a tutorial that was good, a few pointers though for next the light from your window makes it hard to see the notes ur pressing, other than that great job
Dear little 17-year old snotty boy. I don't remember addressing you at all, so where you get the idea that you may direct your insolent cry directly at me is beyond me. As your message does not stem from a need to share an opinion that is even remotely perspicacious, please go away and come back when you have something to say that is worthy of my time. Va t' en, petit gamin, je pense que ta maman vient de t'appeler. Temps d'aller au lit, hein?
LOL - KILLER comeback. French is my mother tongue, and unlike you, I did not learn to speak English or German by watching daytime soaps. Your profile is riddled with errors, and you obviously used an online translator for the French and German drivel you wrote on it. Way to go, numbnuts. Du hast keine Ahnung von Tuten und Blasen,
Are we done? I'd love to carry on this verbal smackdown but I fear its finer and more sentient points would be all but lost on your moronic, birdbrained little mind.
Mwuahahahaha, Krazykatie bitchslapped you good . I'd quit while I was ahead if I were you, Jessie... not that you ever were ahead. She owned your ass. Sorry. :)
On a lighter note: Krazykatie, this video should help you in learning this song. I agree that it's not a tutorial, really, but if you listen to it often enough you should get the hang of it. Good luck!
@krazykatie2006 Actually, I think this tutorial is helpful rather to those who can already play the piano a little, and not the very beginners. You can call it whatever you want - I am not a pro, but with practise I can play this song better and better, and it is thanks to this video. So, THANKS HASSERUDI!
And for those who think it is too fast - you can use the play/stop button and watch it step by step - it really works!
yer n if u luk between 21 n 22 seconds u c one go across near the top of the screen thn at 22 seconds thers a lil flah n it disapears lol spoooooooky :D
Nice job, and thanks for this, hasserudi, I've been using your right-hand tutorial for weeks (and weeeeeeks), working on it, working on it. I'm having a bit of trouble around 1:16 onward, because I'm not sure which left hand parts go with which right-hand parts. Any suggestions? ;) Thanx in advance!
thank you. well I can tell you how I learned this song. First get the melodie of this song in your mind. practise several times a day, but each not longer than 10-15 minutes (otherwise it could be very frustrating if it doesn´t work)
