Take out or disable the oil pipe line. If it is rebuilt take it out again. This will prevent Sudan from selling the oil to China or at least slow it down hopefully to the point where the Sudanese Government can no longer finance the war against the Africans. I don't know..its a suggestion which might actually achieve something...talking about it wont.

After taking in what the American's focus is in terms of military action (Iraq) i decided something like that wasnt worth fighting for. I made a promise to myself that if the troops are ever assigned to go to Darfur to stop the genocide, that day i will join the USMC.

This is just an example of the red tape involved. We can't just waltz in there. If we do, we piss off India, Malaysia, and most importantly, China.
These nations technically fund the genocide by purchasing Sudanese oil. How will intervention affect shareholders?

One way to stop a genocide is to start killing the savages who is doing the killing. It has been proven effective in WW2 with Germany and Japan. A couple of MOABs into Khartoum will surely put the fear of God into the Sudanese.

Omar Al Bashir is the Leader of "Darfur" ,not the Sudan. Obama is lying. He has done nothing, Bashir ignored his sanctions and avoides prison, and he and his Janjaweed still are killing blacks. He's a typical politician...say what it takes to get elected.

President of Southern Sudan is Salva Kiir. It matters not. You are a brother who cares, but Obama cares more about Health Care, and Socialism than the Genocide in Darfur. He is just another politician. I am relegated to sending Obama postcards signed by hundreds of people. He does not respond, because Darfur has no votes for him. Bashir does not fear Obama, or the UN. He will NEVER go to prison. Obama lied.

What's far more infuriating to me than what's happening in Darfur is what we're NOT doing to stop it. Like so many other times humankind stood by idly while nameless faces were butchered.. how high does the death toll need to reach this time? We all feel so heartbroken watching this stuff.. and all want it to stop, but still we sit. Waiting for someone else to do it for us. It's so infuriating.

a couple of thousand peacekeepers cannot control a area that size it is just impossible. Also the problem has spread to Chad... not a simple problem. I don't think that comparing this to Rwanda or Jews in WWII is a very good comparison... different people, different outcome.

The situation is not a simplistic as there are dozens of different groups, militias and warlord led groups fighting. The tension is along racial, religious, and cultural lines... but the driving factor is land ownership... especially oil. I think a better description of the situation is that the government made a billiard opening... and the results are unpredictable, and horrible. Another problem is that Darfur is the size of France...

The Janjaweed were backed by the US and France when they appeared in 1988... Also if you look at Africa's history, these were once rich places (rich in resources) but major powers people took advantage of their resources and stripped them off their land. This left many of these people displaced. Most people have died of disease not out of Genocide. They can't call it a Genocide because there are no facts to support such a claim. We should help everyone in despair :)
