As far as songs go, I like them both. Blue Paint is one of my favorite Venice songs. This one is fun, too. It's got a more modern feel, so I can see why people might like that. If I were at a party, I'd dance to it.

've been seeing Venice for a really long time, so things I like about them as a band pop up in their songs or remind me of other songs. Mark Lennon is an absolutely amazing vocalist, for example. Any time he sings reminds me of other songs or performances I've seen. It's hard to separate that out and just take a song solely as its own.

I think that if I had to pick between the two, I would say that the Venice song is better. Orson's version is fun, but it's more of a trendy, party song -- here for a while and then replaced by a different one, maybe even another Orson song. I think that the Venice song has more to it that makes it feel a bit more permanent to me and makes me like it better.

You're certainly welcome to like this song better. There's a different vibe on the verse and such. However, the melody line of the chorus is exactly the same as the one from the Venice song Blue Paint.

Maybe the songwriters for each song came up with it independently; maybe Orson has made some arrangement with Venice. Who knows. But the similarity can't be denied. If they borrowed for the chorus, I just hope that credit was given where credit was due.
