  • there is no recall on that mixer? How do you repeat your steps if you had to remix it?

  • @rakkfatha

    Restart.....lol...write down your settings

  • where did you get this console? how did you afford it

  • Нив хорошо звучит даже когда инженер глухой

  • yeah just sounds really out of time in places - probably not your fault.

  • for instance at 5:30 the 8th note piano arpegiation pattern sounds frenzied and crazy because the drum tape is over an 8th not behind. Seriously important! Right at 2:27, you switch to the "reference mix" and the drums sit right in pocket with the piano. Your drums are considerably far from in place with the rest of the tracks as far that goes/

  • yep, i did leave the delay compensation on....big mistake...but that's why i was still a student.

  • @SubSonicSlapz "delay compensation on" :) I was saying the drummer is smoking :): Love the Neve'sh consoles !

  • dude.. the tape is totally not matched to the song at so many points in this video! how can you make musical judgements when your drum tape is almost a quarter note behind the rest of the song! testament to your actual musical ear?

  • I did not make any musical judgements....since i did not record or produce this

  • @SubSonicSlapz So when you mix you don't make any musical judgments?

  • @polyphony89

No, not really, ...but again, it must of been the delay compensation on protools, that i did not know about then, (still in school)

  • @SubSonicSlapz Dude mixing is all about making musical judgments! don't they teach this in your school!? Your mixing music! How can you mix without the ability to make musical judgments!?

  • @polyphony89

No, thats the producers job. Im just gonna make the music sound good. (I should of known about the delay comp) but then i didnt, so what was on tape was what i needed to polish up. simple as that

  • @SubSonicSlapz When your mixing your effecting the musical arrangement, therefore musical judgments have to be made. This "Make the music sound good" is making musical judgments! Every decision you make is effecting the music!

  • @polyphony89

The closest thing to musical judgments i can make are mutes and fades to different instruments. My assignment was to mix, not to re-record.

  • @SubSonicSlapz What about FX? Using reverbs and delays effects the timing of the song. The tonal balance effects how the "Musical" instruments interact with one another. Compressors, expanders, companders, side chaining, smoking weed and even a high pass filter all effect the musical arrangement!

  • @polyphony89

Nothing that a mixer does affects the timing of the song (except delay comp..and that was a mistake)....fx are effects and dynamics are dynamics....the musical arrangement should be complete besides mutes and fades by the mixing time. We were originally talking about the drums....right? besides delay comp there was nothing else i could of done

  • Not such a horrible song. The delay on the the drums is annoying unless that drummer has had a few too many! The mixing is cool too.

  • man this has got to be the biggest joke of "music" that I have ever heard!!

  • I was a student at SAE institute of los angeles, this was a "pratice reel" i had nothing to do with the production or recording of this.

  • Ohh im not pointing that at you, I realized that your just mixing it, its obvious, nothing wrong with the mix. But the music itself, man its terrible!

  • keep posting bro luving da vids showing some luv!!

  • Nice job from your part man, but that fucking drummer should be fucking fired!

  • My god........dont you hear the huge delay compensation issues you have.....

Thanks for the vid but you have to fix that

    dog

  • where are your studio located and how much is the price an hour. I recording in tape 2" inch tape in the otari mx 80 i whant to mix in the neve console i live in Puerto Rico

    ilive before in LA california,

  • sounds like you have a good pallet to work on,,,my only question is is that,,,isn't reverb a stereo time-based effect? and if so,,,,why did you only make one patch???

  • Good question.....but if you noticed i cut the video right before i made the first patch...you can see the second patch is right next to the first one that was cut out of the sequence.

  • liek it but why do thedrums sound out of time? is it just me?

  • love it man.....
