This guys' an amazing soul. I'm not an appretiative listener of classical music but Derek has an interesting way of making that genre of music entertaining and I could sit and listen to it. He could play a harpiscord and make it sound good. Read the book "In the Key of Genius" to really appreciate the genius of this young man.
dude this guy makes me wanna cry. He has the most greatest talent i've seen in my WHOLE entire life. God has not given him to sight, but an incredible gift.
He was born premature at just 27 weeks and the oxygen used to keep him breathing damaged his brain so he suffers from slight autism and it also caused his blindness. He can walk fine, he just needs a guiding hand, and he can talk fine, he just doesn't comprehend some of the things people tell him, and he sometimes has difficulty putting his thoughts into complete sentences.
he plays the piano at the carol concerts for a special needs school called Wargrave house in Warrington every year and he is always very popular with the kids and the teachers
He comes with an organisation called Music for Autism and he does little concerts aswell where he plays requests fo us....
Depends man, the physical disabilities, could be else where, ,he cant walk properly, he can't really speak that well, like, and when u loose one of those, the body tries to give in to the interest of the person
I didn't even recognize that he was playing Bach at first. Amazing. I wish I could express myself half as well verbally as he can through music. What a creative guy.
i really like his style, he does a lot of those... arpeggis right? im no muscial expert but i think thats what they are called whatever... keep on doing what do you best as long as you enjoy it!
I love the part where he has an itch towards the end. He botched a note then removed his hand from the keys yet continued with the other one. Was it a legitamite itch and it messed him up so he bought time to scratch it? Pretty funny any way you look at it.
I have 2 degrees from a music conservertoire, and have studied tradition, jazz, and contemporary music, as well as being an accomplished pianist... So I feel really lucky, because I can understand the true extent of how gifted he is... Not only is he musical in a sense which surpasses most professional musicians. he has such a natural technique and bond with the keyboard/piano. It's an absolute pleasure to listen and watch. Thanks, this video is now in my favourites.
OMFG !!! another faggot that thinks that he it top of the world ! just becouse i dodn't go to special school for music, u thing that i dont think and recognice how good he is !?!!?!?!?!! omg. ppl like you piss me off !!!
I too am an aspiring pianist with degrees from a conservatory. But its not that he surpasses MOST professionals my friend, he surpasses ALL. I'm sorry to say but as much as anyone practices in their whole life time they'll never surpass this individual. He hears a song once and can play it perfectly seconds after hearing with perfect technique. I's mysterious the way things work in life, the man can barely count to ten, yet hes been blessed with an extraordinary talent. Kudos to you Derek

And I thought that I was good at piano.
Listening to him, I'm like an ant compared to a giant!
megamashful 10 months ago
He's very good!
So if anyone says I want to be just like him or better then him, say "In your dreams!" because he is insanely good at piano!
In fact, he's probably best in the world at piano even in many categories!
If not, he's the best at all categories!

he has changed the world of modern music and shown us all creative genius on an unknown level

I know that he's a genius musically, but does he have physical disabilities that impair him in technical playing?

For such a great player he should be playing a grand and not a crappy electric keyboard.
