  • i might have to get the surgery :/ can you dance now???

  • @Breannaa1010 yes! I dance and teach now. You can do anything you set your mind to! Remember that :)

  • sono stata operata 2 anni fa

  • @nunziaitalia good luck! thanks for watching my video!

  • I'm 11. I'm going for the surgery next January. Wish me luck. Praying to god for the best! <3

  • @shennz10 Good luck! I hope everything went well. Please keep me posted

  • hey hope ypu answer my question but was the surgery painful? i may (slight chance but already wearing a brace) have surgery and im real scared cuz i really dont want to have the surgery!!! hoep you reply:) liked ur video

  • @CrACkaNation They make sure to keep you on a lot of medication. You will never be in pain in the hospital and if you are let a doctor or nurse know. After you get home you will feel sore as you try to wing off all medication, but now I am 100% fine. I dance and sometimes get sore, but for the most part I feel back to normal. Be strong! Keep fighting. Thanks for watching/liking my video. Means a lot! I am always here. Feel free to message me

  • did they have to fuse the rods to your spine? I had two surgeries, one to put rods in and a second to lengthen them. my last one is to fuse them and the doctors said it will be ten hours long so since yours was seven hours, which is longer than my last two, I was just wondering and if so, how painful was it cuz im pretty nervous

  • @diildude It's defintely not easy, but the doctors will put you on pain medication to ensure you feel no pain. I really don't remember much of my experience in the hospital now because of the medication I was on. If you feel pain while in the hospital be sure to tell a nurse or doctor. Never just sit back. That's what they are there for! Keep me posted. I'd love to answer any more questions.

  • i'm having the same surgery on the 25th july!!!

  • @toxicgeorgia1 I wish you the best of luck. Keep me posted. I'd love to hear from you.

  • Hello, many thanks for your great video!

You emit so much joy and hope and this although you so much grief and pains has endured!

My daughter also has Skoliose and is operated next year the fear of it is simply indescribably big!

I hope you have well got over your operation and can dance to your passion to him follow again without limitation! I wish you for the future all the best and a lot of luck.

    LG from Berlin(Germany)

  • @Tweety200032 thank you so much for watching. it means so so much. I will be praying for your daughter. It truthfully will change her life. I wish you all the best. Please feel free to keep me posted.

  • Hii...Hope you fine now..

    so, now can you dance?

  • @fadzianah yes i actually just had my last dance recital on june 5th. I was in 5 dances. it was really fun. off to college now (:

  • @victoriaperalta11 dont you feel any pain at you back?

  • @fadzianah thank you so much. yes i can! all my dance videos on my channel are from after my surgery (:

  • Hey victoria... I had scoliosis all my life and the doctor said I only had a little curve and they told me they had no way of fixing it since I've already grown... The pain doesn't go away but at times it does.. How can I prevent of not getting hurt =(.. I hate it so much

  • @Mashimuzy i would stretch alot. loosen up your muscles and take advil if it ever hurts really bad. dancing really helps me out. i stretch everyday so it helps your muscles (: let me know if it works

  • @Mashimuzy

Go to a chiropractor. They can most likely fix your back.

  • I cannot understand why the doctors would use bracing and surgery when there are proven non-surgical methods to fully correct the curve in someone's spine. I have seen some videos where the after x-rays still show a curve albeit very minor. Also why would anyone want their spine fused which will limit your abilities. Also if the doctor during surgery makes one wrong move you could be paralyzed or die.

  • I mean no offense to anyone. Just stating the facts.

  • I'm getting suregery this Summer but im really scared . :/

And i was looking at a video and they put like a needle or something on your neck what is that for ?

    And does it hurt ?

  • @jnnfrngo I'm not super sure. I didn't have a needle put in my neck. Yes things get painful at times, but just stay strong. It's so worth it I promise. It makes you so much stronger (emotionally and physically). I will pray for you. Let me know if you need anything else.

  • @jnnfrngo

I recommend trying a chiropractor instead of surgery. Surgery should only be used as a last resort when all other methods have failed IMHO

  • Dr. Sullivan was my doctor too, hahaha.

The part that sucks about the surgery is that you can't bend AT ALL after it. I'm really jealous now of everyone who can bend their backs lololol.

But at least we have fab posture!

  • @ItsTaylorLeigh That is so funny. What a small world. I wish I could bend my back too! I am a dancer so yeah it's hard. I am glad to hear you are doing well. Message me anytime so we can talk

  • What was the girls name that you were set up to talk about the surgery?

  • @maxwell029 Holly

  • hi victoriaa... iwass wondering how long does the pain last and how much longer does it take for you to be able to do stuff again... ihave thiss surgeryy in junee

  • @ashhh26 Well, It took me about 6 months to recover completely. You start to get stronger about a month after though. Just stay tough. Take medicine. Make sure you try and walk a lot too. Even though it sucks, it helps. Let me know if you need anything else.

  • Hi :D

I'm having my surgery on february 7th but i'm going to the hospital one day before to get to know the staff and I hope there will be someone in my age there i can talk to.

How was the surgery to you?? When you sat the first time did it hurt much?? or when you walked, stood and woke up from surgery?? My doctor told me that i will have a lot of pain the first days so........ i'm not happy about it :P It would really help if you anwerd because i'm really scared!! And how fast did you heal?

  • @izaabeellaa The surgery for me was a pretty hard process. When I sat up for the first time, it didn't hurt, but I felt so weak. I remember thinking I would never dance again. When I walked and stood up, I just felt weak and tired. No pain though. The doctors will give you enough medicine, so that you don't feel pain. Let know them know if something hurts. They will give you medicine to numb it. I hope everything is going well. I am praying for you. Let me know :)

  • hi victoria, my name is stephanie & i have scoliosis too. i was told that i needed surgery as well but i am just so scared right now, can you tell me how you felt after the surgery like if you were in pain or anything...i feel like i cant talk to anyone about this and i just want to hear from someone who knows how i am feeling right now PLEASE !

  • @crojal2 Hey Stephanie,

I know exactly how you are feeling. Well, to be honest, I don't really remember how the pain actually felt. The doctors are trained, and they give you medication so that you aren't in pain. If you feel pain, let them know. That is what they are there for. To be honest, you will be on so much medicine that you will be numb basically. You will get stronger though. Just stay tough. I will pray for you. Let me know if you have any more questions.

  • I am a 13 year old girl who just had the surgery and I wanted to know what other people had to go through. I was especially happy when I found yours because I went to the same hospital as you! My surgeon was Dr. Sullivan and he had me meet another patient who had recently had the surgery also. I loved that hospital they took great care of me. I had my surgery on December 10th 2010.

  • @jessiecomedy15 There can be with any surgery....... BUT if you keep praying to god he will get you through it.. I promise you. I have had 18 surgeries in my life and I'm 15 and God has spared me through all of it, and I know if you are close to him he will bless you and you'll have an amazing recovery. • I think the hardest part for me was getting up and sitting up and walking.... it was tough....... But I'm all good now.

  • @MsTwilight411 me 2

  • @MsTwilight411 i agree

  • YOGA!! Yoga saved me from getting surgery ... I found out I had scoliosis when I was ten ... the doctor got me a back brace right away (which I wore religiously) but still wanted to operate two years later. I started doing yoga (also religiously) when I was 13 ... I have improved my curvatures (I have three) by ten degrees each and am flexible enough and don't have pain and problems! I had a nearly 70 degree curve which is now sitting at a stable 50 : ))) Hope this helps some of you!!

  • Hi Victoria, my daughter runs track very active in school and is 12yr old. We were told she has a 60 degree curve in her back and has to have surgery. We are very nervous is there any words of encouragement for us, and we live in Indiana about 20min from Chicago. Please respond thank you and I pray all is well with you.

  • @yowshe0412 thank you so much for the prayers and for watching. my advice is to just stay strong and positive for your daughter. my mom was really supportive and my surgery actually brought our relationship to a stronger point. the process of recovery is long, but it is so worth it in the end. i will keep you in my prayers. good luck :)

  • This is a good video. I had back surgery in 2006 and I had to go through everything you went through. I was 14 when I had surgery so it was tough. In the long run it was worth it :)

  • @kidderteen yes very worth it :) i am so happy you are doing well. thank you for watching :)

  • How long in total did it take to recover? Any feedback about the recovery would be awesome, that's the part I'm actually more worried about :$, the pain seems like a lot for a long time!

  • @daaniellechristine it took about a year to fully recover. just stay strong and make sure to walk and stuff. don't rush the recovery though. make sure you get a lot of best rest and relax. you will be back to normally eventually. good luck! thank you for watching :)

  • I have scoliosis.....I mean I used to have scoliosis, I just had surgery on February 9, it was really scary...The worst part of it was taking the tape out that stuff is really painfu;....My degrees used to be 71 and now it 3*, I couldn't beleive it at first either....I'm glad I did the surgery, but mines was 10 hours...

  • @strongtiger4life i'm so happy you're doing well! thank you for the comment and for watching :)

  • Victoria did you even throw up! becuase i have scoliosis!! :(

  • @EsteexLauder no i didn't throw up. and did you have surgery?

  • @victoriaperalta11 hey mines not at a 40 degree angle, but that doesnt mean that a brace will help fix it, i was wondering how long it will take after surgery before i am able to starting boxing again, i would be grateful for a well accounted reply

  • @BADDESTOFTHEMALLUKNO it all really depends on your body! usually it's like a 6 month period of time where you're supposed to be on bedrest. thank you for watching :)

  • @victoriaperalta11 I didn't have surgery, the doctor said its not bad at all. im only 12... :(

  • i am also a dancer. performing is my life. my surgeon told me to rethinkk my career becuz i would never dance good again. luckily, i got a new surgeon who took risks, and after three weeks i was back ath the studio =) i can relate to your story. glad everything went well!!

  • i got about 2 inches taller. thank you for watcing!

  • me too!!!

  • @victoriaperalta11 same here i had the surg and got 3 inches taller

  • the worst pain was probably because of the dressings tape. that stuff should be declared a torture device... Otherwise, the pain is lower on a scale of one to ten...

  • im getting surgery this June. I have a 32 and 47 degree curves. im pretty excited for it and to get it over with. but I was wondering what was life at home like for the few weeks you were recovering from surgery?

  • i am actually going to be 17 in two days. and sure, ask anything! i'm here to answer :)

  • This video is inspiring.

I have scoliosis too. I find out on 10/06 if I am having surgery. I'm at 47 and 56 degrees. I just wanted to ask people on this comment section if music helped them?

For me, I listened to a lot of depressing stuff but then my friend introduced me to the Jonas Brothers and I have such a better mindset now. I really wish there was a way to thank them. I have it written everywhere: A little bit longer and I'll be fine. So I wanted to ask if music helped anyone else?

  • yes, music really helped me! i listened to a lot of songs that helped me get through :) thanks for watching!

  • I have 2 also, I dont no what the small one is but the big one is 55 degrees, oh and I wasnt thinking, my surgery is June 9, 2010 not 2009

  • aw good luck :) ill be praying for you.

  • hey Victoria I will have my scoliosis exactly one year after you had yours, June 9, 2009

    how big was your curve?

  • i actually had to curves. one was about 20 degrees on the top and the bottom one was 68 degrees. how big are your curves?

  • Hi victioria. im having the surgery in one month. When you were in intensive care, did u experience alot of pain?

  • i don't really remember a lot of the time i was in the hospital. you will be put on so much medication so that you don't experience pain/ don't remember.

  • hey im so glad u did the sugery for me it was really worth it i have it done may 12th 2009 and u video really toched me :) i love to dance too but i cant still do it :( but soon : )

  • i wish i cAN have the surgery ............

every day i wake up with back pains

to bad my moms cant afford it =(

i hope this dont affect me in the long run

  • i'm am so sorry to hear that. maybe there is some sort of foundation that can help you pay for it? or insurance? i'll be praying for you. how bad is your curve?

  • Your very brave =) i have scoliosis and i dont need sugery but i have to wear a brace for 3 yrs

  • aw thank you! and that's good, how big is your curve? does the brace hurt?

  • Hey Victoria!

I really liked your video, you look great! :)

I had this same surgery a year ago. Im glad i had the surgery but im still in a lot of pain everyday. it feels like how it felt when i was in the hospital. soo there gonna go back in and take it out :(

but im glad yours went good! :)

  • thank you! and i'm so sorry to hear that about your back. i hope everything goes well! i'll be praying for you and your family :)

  • Im having this surgery in 4\5 weeks and have been waiting almost a year . I am 15 and am being fused whole spine apart from T1 and L4 , L5 . I liked your video and you seem a really happy person !

    Thanks for video

Wish you the best for the future

  • aw good luck! let me know how everything goes. my prayers go out to you and your family! and thanks for watching :)

  • I wish I had done surgery rather than wear braces. It was the worst period of my life and it was ages ago, but it was horrible and it crippled my social skills until today. I wish I wouldn't have listened to my parents and thrown that crap away. You look great and happy, good luck!!

  • aw thank you! and thanks for watching. i hope you are doing okay! i'll be praying for you.

  • Surgery isn't fun it's very serious and painful and can cause issues down the road. Some people even have pain years post op.

Don't let your brace lower your self esteem and don't worry what people think about it. Brace have improved we now have Spinecor and TriaC, they are hardly noticable and in some studies ahve been proven to be better than traditional hard braces.

    I hope you're doing well

  • hiyahh u r so brave ive had it done n its bare hard to cope with the things is nt it well good luck to any 1 elsee xxx

  • aw thank you! and thanks for watching my video!
