the reason the audience laughs is as follows:
- he falls for a girl after just casually meeting her, based on nothing but chemical attraction (funny)
- he imagines marrying this girl he's fallen so hard for (funny)
- they grow old together and one day, she dies and he says goodbye (the audience is surprised and quiet)
- he had this little neurotic fantasy while just saying 'hello' to a fan after a show (applause)
