That car was gettin it! If I was on my bike I probably wouldn't pass that car eather. I tend to push myself to hard in those situation. To give u a clue, my bike will do 205mph. Great video guys. Keep it shiny side up.
Great footage, btw, it's a C55, not a CL55. Great driving and riding nonetheless, but I was surprised the whole time thinking how such a big ass CL would be giving you guys such a problem, especially since you guys were goin at a pretty good pace, C55 a much faster car through the corners than a CL though.
lulz - I liked the "curvey road" sign. Like, "No shit," right? Anyhow, that looked like fun. And I gotta say, that AMG driver was throwin' that car around pretty good.
@505197 more then likely a bigger sprocket. Makes the speedometer show faster speed then he's actually going. Another possible sign is by judging the ease of which he popped the motorcycle up at the beginning.
@amyntage its called a clutch-up. has nothing to do with the sprocket. if you listen you can hear it when he pulls it up. however they are more than likely running -1/+2 sprockets as is most every sportbike guy which throws off an already bad factory speedo read to a absolute horrible read.
When did you film this, 4am in the middle of winter?! It's a video of Deal's Gap without a single squid or clueless idiot in sight! Extremely impressive driving on the AMG's part.
Why is it that 90% of motorcycle videos have riders that don't know what good body position is? GET YOUR UPPER BODY OVER TOO IDIOT, NOT JUST YOUR ASS. Might as well just sit straight up if your gonna ride twisted.
I ride a harley, I'm nowhere in your league. I have alot of respect for your abilities. Just to clarify is the digital on the right your speedo? You guys have some serious balls. Thanks for posting a fun video.
Awesome vid man. I am taking my wifes car to deals gap this weekend. Her sister lives in robbinsville and she said I can have her 2010 forte sx 6 speed with racing suspension for the day. I will be taking on the dragon once again but this time in a car that I know will handle it. Glad to see yall don't drive like some of the other bikers up there, always in the other lane and passing people (me) in a middle of a turn. Good vid man stay safe!
This was really fun to watch! Not something I'd ever DO, but still fun. :) I've driven this in a stick shift car - if i saw you guys coming I'd pull over and let you pass! LOL
first, a little tilt up on the camera would help with the sea sickness. other than that, excellent video! i've ridden the dragon many times and 45-55 thru those turns is very impressive. you guys can ride. i would like to see a video of you without traffic.
LOL, i just went through the comments on this, for the record there was no way in hell i'm passing a car on the outside or inside on the dragon, thats asking for death & if you pay attn you'll see my brakelight come on quite a bit so i don't rear end the kid. The guy was an excellent driver & to the individual that says he's faster than us, we should BOTH be at Road America this year OR any big track around the US & i'm gaaaaaaaaaame ;)
Dang - I wish the vid was clearer - that ride was awesome. Glad everyone is safe. Great riding IMO. I just ride a 650R - no way would it get close to zx6r and all that power and handling. I have a 2006 SLK350 with AMG package that runs pretty sweet - but nowhere near the power of the v8 AMG. That was some very good driving for a cage. If I were in my slk350 on The Dragon and some ninjas came up on me - I'd let 'em pass. LOL Ninjas are sweet rides.
Ohhh poor guys, even me with my 600 Hornet could send the AMG to the past... Brazilian riders are the most dangerous riders, call us for a teacher... and claps for the AMG driver...
You guys managed to go fast while still being smart and relatively safe about it. Thank you for this great video. I've been to the gap before and I'll return next summer. I haven't found anything that beats that area for riding.
I like helmet cams so much better because you can look through the curve and see whats going on better, these videos like this make me sick from all the motion... back and forth back and forth...
That's funny, most people say the opposite. I used to use a helmet cam but people didn't like it. They want to be able to see the bike leaning, and felt the constant moving of the helmet cam got them sick.
Yea but as a bike rider this view doesnt let you see whats going on at all, you can see speedometer and and some of the road. I rarely ever look at my speedometer riding I just listen to rpm for shifting the rest of the time Im concentrating on the road, looking through curves. This view you cant see through the curve like you would as the rider, but thats my personal preference. Its good video just you cant see anything on the sharp curves
@joe72881 another vote for the helm camera. Recording at the rider's height helps you see more and since rider keeps his head oriented with the horizaon, it's not as disorienting. However, nice vid still the same, glad your key fob isn't flapping right in the camera like some videos!
@rlclark50 Riders on sportbikes generally do not keep thier heads oriented with the horizon, they tend to point their heads toward the tank while looking forward with their eyes when exiting a turn and going down a straight. There would bee too much movement and you wouldn't get a sense cornering with a helmet cam.
@britishbikes12 I've ridden an '06 R6 on many track sessions and backroads and I've always used my head to look through the corner, not my eyes. If you watch many pro level riders, it seems they use the same technique. Watch Aaron Yates or Jason Britton for instance. On corner entry, having the head where the chin is "riding the pavement" seems to be the easiest way to bend the bike down on the initial turn-in.
@rlclark50 You are correct; I should have been more careful with my wording. If you mount a regular camera on your helmet, it is never quite pointed in the right direction, you have to heep thinking about the orientation of the camera: it is distracting. (I have tried it) When most riders go into a tuck, ie exiting a turn, they tend point their helmet more down than when they sit up for braking, etc. I think the helmet cams that work are gyro cams, so they point in the direction of travel.
@joe72881 The lower the camera is mounted, the greater the speed feeling. We even mounted the camera on an aluminum boom to put it inches above the asphalt, for some godly speed sensation.
@TheSly0321 with this view u get a better idea what the bikes getting up to in the corners, all the subtle little tell tale signs how the riders braking, gyro effect as the bike powers out of a corner, u cant get that with a helmet cam. plus if ur feeling sick just adjust ur point of view as you would on a bike.
@TheSly0321 the trick to not get sick is to folow the movement as if you were riding the bike, that is turn head to side of the corner they are doing, if you stil get sick then you need to see a doctor or avoid totaly this videos.
@Thegoodshit1 These guys can drag knee so they're pretty competent, and beside the Tail is policed so heavily now that its suicide to try and treat it like Laguna Seca.
Why don't you post some vids of you riding and then we'll see how fast you are, retard
compared to what? you in your POS ride in a straight away! anyone can push the vehicle in question to top speeds, the question is can you do that with other variations like turns, and topography ...your're probably one of those people who also says that Nascar is racing!
Thegoodshit1, that comment just proves how much of a complete and total dickhead you are. The unfortunate aspect of the internet is that it allows people like yourself to post things that you would never tell someone face to face. Guys who are actually fast don't need to boost their egos by bragging on the internet to people whom they will never have to prove it to.
@Thegoodshit1 Oh yeah! Im sure theese guys was pushing their full potential! Why dont you get that dick out of your ass and learn how to drive a bike.
