I read about this in Faith's book. This was the original version of her recording on the first CD. Mary and Puffy had a falling out over money. So Mary wouldn't pass this recording and had them take her vocals off. Faith had to re-record it by herself. She had said she liked it better with Mary on it. I think Faith's version is just fine. If anything, Mary's contribution would've been more about her appearance than true artistry. I do like her backing vocals on here, though.

The song is still a masterpiece nonetheless, but Mary pulls emotions out from outer space and this song requires emotions. Faith just singing, Mary is experiencing. Faith has a soft angelic voice w/ range like the calm after a storm and Mary has a raspy roar that gives goosebumps. PERFECTION, enough said. I love them both, I'd love it if the two came together again to make more great music.
