  • And also i have scramble haha

  • i have an vectrex at home, sadly it is broken though :/

  • contineu about the idea of an possiblle revolutionairy color overlayer concider this the color overlayer am talking about should be an transparrant oled screen wich can be placed in front of a b&w screen to do the work in mentioned early.

  • What is the title of the song you use in the intro? And I have a Vectrex too! :)

  • speaking about the overlayer to resamble color.

i was thinking howaboout an overlayer wich is able to shift from one color to another color in any direction in indevidual pixels in accordance to the material source.

example if we send an color foto or video to a system wich sends the b&w data to a b&w tv and translate the color data into data the overlayer understand to porform,in order to even get color on a b&w screen, the b&w tv is then used for passing the licht and the overlayer for color.

  • @johneymute uhm, yeah?

  • I was playing solar quest while watching :)

  • woooow awesome console I didn't know it !!

  • Why don't I have a Vectrex????????

  • Gradius, and metal gear solid 4? I call hearsy. CONTRA!!!

  • Damn, that game looks good!

  • it farts when you die

  • @quaxk Yes, it sure sounds like one!

  • 4:26 "son of a bitch"

    naughty mark ;)

  • Does this one have "Good Luck Next Time Again" at the end like the arcade version?

  • Haha. Loved this game. I am all tense just watching you play, just like I was 10 again.

  • PLEASE READ IMPORTANT QUESTION hello my great grandma found a i think from the 1980s intendo entertainment system but im missing 2 parts what d ido to find the?

  • @MrRedrooster53 i mean find the parts and what do i do and i suck at typing

  • @MrRedrooster53 What are you missing?

  • @TeamRocketReviews i dont know the names of the parts but like 3 or 4 mabey 5

  • @MrRedrooster53 You're gonna need a power supply, controllers, and RF or AV cables. A good controller can be had very cheaply, just watch out for New In Box controllers. They're usually cheap knockoffs that won't last nearly as long as a real controller. I recommend an NES Advantage joystick. It's very well made, and it's as close as you're gonna get to a real arcade controller for NES (it's not exactly like an arcade joystick). Control pads are good too. Games are easy to find, and excellent.

  • I want to get a Vextrex!

  • the explosion sound sounds like a fart

  • I love this game on my Vectrex,Im lucky because I got 2 controllers with mine and both work Awesome(The people put a Band-Aid on Controller 2 to tell them apart lol)!

I Love the games that are Nice and Retro,Just for fun Im playing Pokemon Red again, not Retro but Fun and I do play my Atari 2600,Intellivision and Colecovision several time a week so I dont loose touch with the Real Games ;0)

  • It's the bare basics of graphics and gameplay yet it's so much fun. Only companies like Konami can do such things.

  • The Vectrex was realesed in 1982 and SCRAMBLE in 1981 ? Wtf ?

  • @TheGrandTheftshit the arcade Scramble was released in 1981, this is a port.

  • The vectrex looks ridiculously awesome.

  • I can't remember what game o played on that

  • You sound like Zack Scott.

  • its like super cobra on atari xl/xe :)

  • @SoloKazama Super Cobra was a sequel to Scramble, and a much much harder version of the same basic game.

  • There was also a very very basic version of pocket scramble that ive played. To be fair, it sucked monkey balls.

  • What do you guys think? I'm gonna make some cash. Vectrex or Virtual boy.

  • @PatchworkParamedic Vectrex. What kind of sick insane person would even think about getting virtual boy over vectrex?

  • @cdsballer99 the kind of person who doesnt know the glory of bezerk

  • Unbelievable!!!! I haven't seen this game being played in over 25 years. I think my brother and I got the MB Vectrex for christmas 1983. My favourite games were Minestorm, Scramble and Cosmic Casm (I may have spelt that wrong). It was just the coolest thing to have at home, games were well expensive though. Great days. PS if your controller fails to centre, get it fixed, its only a piece of semi-cicular spring that fails. Quite easy to replace for someone mechanically minded.

  • Scramble is similar to Vanguard, my favorite Atari 2600 game. - Gary

  • @wendileona You mean similar as regards the fuel gameplay?

  • awesome

  • youre reviews are AWSOME!!

  • I want one of these!

  • 4:20 i like to call it the gasplosion :P

  • I see other fellow gamers know the pain of a somewhat damaged Vectrex controller.

  • Old school games

  • I wanna play the Vectrex version of God of War :)

  • goody xbox live ~ hmm

  • This game actually looks pretty cool

  • OMG THE GRAPHICS IS SOOO COOL, VERY VERY COOL! THE MOST AWESOMENESS!!!

  • I have an original Scramble machine, and this is a surprisingly faithful rendition. Trying to navigate the maze section without a working joystick sounds like it'd be impossible.

  • played this at my childhood best friend's house, never forgot about it, so happy i found it again on yt :)

  • haha i see starfox64 in the backround i played the shit out of that

  • thnks for the vid, i have very good memories of this game and the Vectrex, too bad the company had problem that time

  • thumbs up if you think modern warfare should be on the vectrex

  • ocarina of time at 0:17!

  • yaay vectrex!! :D

  • Cool review. You should do one for the Xbox360 Arcade version of Scramble someday, too. And Axelay for the Super NES, because it's AWESOME!

  • there was a game on the Atari 800 called C.O.B.R.A. that was a rip-off of this game in every way. They only changed the ship to a helicopter. It was one of my all-time favorite games that sucked many many hours of my childhood down the drain.

Now, i must find a vectrex!

  • @jcnbw01 I think you mean Super Cobra. That's the official sequel to Scramble, not a ripoff.

  • @Pikachu132 i stand corrected - it was super cobra, and i didn't know it was the sequel! thanks!

  • Man u crack me up!

  • Pretty beast game

  • I searched ._. and this was on top!

  • 4:26 *voice very low* son of a bitch X(

  • @mitro2828 I have it on my tv it's like on it if you buy it!you should get that tv I tell ya!

  • I have that on my old phone XD

  • where can you find this?

  • @mspeter97 ebay? maybe?

  • @teza789 yes found one for 200 USD

  • @mspeter97 maybe u should try the world of tron. i heard there new over there.

  • @mspeter97 i found one for 20 bucks :P

  • What is the music at the beginning?

  • What's the music at the beginning?

  • The explosion sounds like a fart lmao

  • look at this here a,v,a,t,z.net remove ,

  • 23 people don't know what a real video game is.

  • This system looks so awesome, that if they made a Vectrex sequel all these years later, the world would explode from awesome. I should check if that one I saw at a video game shop is for sale....(I hope they still have it, too!)

  • I bought vectrex in late 1981. Loved it was great because it came with a monitor. Unheard of back then. No tv!!! I was the only one in my town that had one. Bought it at toys r us. Another great game is Wizards of wor and omega race.

  • 8:46

  • 8:40

  • GCR is the best review show everrr blows irate gamer and even AVGN out of the waterr Mark is so awesommeee vectrex forever

  • @sk8terboi10003 AVGN Only reviews bad games so its hard to compare the two.

  • CONTRA!!!!!!!

  • well a quick search on ebay tells me the prices start from around £90 for the console and the inbuilt game to £400 for one with a fairly hefty selection of kit n games....i blame classic game room for boosting the price!

  • Wouldn't modern warfare 2 be SO much better if it was on the vectrex?

  • Vectrex is a hell of inovated, underrated and AWESOME console

  • whats the name of the soundclip used at 0:03

  • @piratguybrush Stock royalty free music.

  • If they had licensed a Vektrex version of Star wars and Empire strikes back this would of been thee best selling console of the era. Long live Vektrex.

  • Your intro music is so damn awesome!

  • This might look a little bit primitive, but its animation is SOOO much smoother than other 1982 hardware, and the resolution is arcade quality, from an era when the rest of the home computers were offering chunky sprites.

It looks like they made a decent, playable version of the arcade classic, too. That's rare in many home versions from the 1980s.

  • could please review more nintendo 64 games like spiderman turok rage wars?

  • Whats a over lay?

  • @YoungMoney4280 Vectrex was basic B and W on the screen. To make the game colorful they gave you a colored see- thru plastic sheet to place over the picture. It was as primitive as it was innovative Lol, and we loved it!

  • i was thinking more....loveseat from '75, but ill accept couch from '80

  • I had this, one of the better Vectrex games. It ran in a loop, so that on completing a game you had to replay it, but with tighter corridors. After about the 4th or 5th game, the passages were smaller than the ship, so it was impossible to go any further! A great console though, and games like Cosmic Chasm, Fortress of Narzod and Spike were excellent.

  • the overlays look awesome!!

  • after 4:43 the second time he gets killed you can hear him whispering "son of a bitch!!" really!!!

  • Quite unique looking version of Scramble with these vector graphics.

  • I agree about the older music. With limited capabilities, programmers had to use their creativity to fill the game full of sound FX and some clips of music. Although the bomb drop sound gets old.

  • laser bomb laser and bomb lol

  • ok dude i subscribed ur awesome

i wish you were my friend hahaha

  • good ol vectrex

shoudnt every game go pew pew every time you shoot

  • dude seriously this is like something from a game hall, throw a coin in and play with amazing 8bit sounds!

  • Mark, you should reiew "Game Room" for Xbox live!

  • It's colored cellophane

    What isn't cool about that?

  • ZELDA IN THE BACKGROUND

  • Ah s*98 chord sound*t!

    xD

  • One of the cool things about the Vectrex is that it can pump out some serous volume. :)

    STAY AWESOME! :)

  • I still have this game! :)

  • LOL 6:42 "Ohh Fuck"

  • @Trisnice its ohh shi*

  • @Trisnice No, he said: "Ah, sh*t"

  • damn if those things weren't so expensive....

  • I love the sound effects. pew pew pew pew pew pew peeeeeeeeeew peeeeeeeeeeeew pew pew pew pew pew pew peeeeeeeeeew peeeeeeeeeeeew!

  • if u think about it the vectrex is kinda like a hand held... i doesnt need to be pluged into a TV

    soooo its kinda portable... ehhh

  • 6:42 "Aw shit!!"

  • Bomb Lazer Bomb Lazer LOL

  • I love vectors.

I want a Vectrex now. I know I'd barely play it. But I want one.

  • overlay extreme lol

  • Vectrex graphics look really nice

  • You can see the vector graphics scanning, since it's not rasterized.

(It's pretty much an Oscilliscope that plays games.)

  • omg i want a vectrex but i was born in 1999 and i couldnt get one :((

  • @MonsterVladgor Then buy one off ebay, whered you think he got his?

  • this takes me way back even though i never played it, it reminds me of the early atari and ti-99/4a days where it was exciting just to see graphics and hear computer sounds from your tv....

  • This is the first videogame I remember playing ever. Dad got me hooked at age 3.

  • The Vectrex conversion is actually really good, just like the conversion of Berzerk. I just hated the overlay. It made gameplay confusing. Other than that, my favourite version of Scramble!

  • man I am a call of Duty player but u brought the old school out of me . I got addicted by watching.

  • i like the movie and the whole presentation but is scramble a game that is extremely frustrating? and do you have any anemies you shoot some kinda thing that follows you?

because i have a vectrex too with only the build in mine storm game (and i suck at it) would scramble be a good game for me?

  • I love playing this on Game Boy Player (GBP)

  • this game looks amazing!

  • awesome video could u check my channel out if u like my vids u should subscribe. keep it up.

  • I havent seen a vectrex since the 80s. Thanks for posting.

When you think of Konami you also think of Gyruss and Rush N Attack too...

Good descriptions and funny too with all the cursing. :) 'tis a tricky game mhmm

  • I had this game on my gameboy. It was like the best

  • Like many of my Vectrex games, I don't have the overlay for this. Is there any way I can MAKE them? There's a website that has some scans of them... could I just print those onto some of those clear paper things for overhead projectors?

  • Maybe you could use markers on clear plastic so that you can replicate it or try a place that makes labels on different materials.

  • yeah, or just get some mulitcoloured really thin paper or plastic and make any colour combination you want by mixing and matching them...cut them to screen size and your good to go

  • @legofans452 I'm sure you could print it onto a transparency for an OHP you can print like that at most places in color.

  • I love all of your videos! Keep it up :D

  • I need this @___@

Scramble, Berzek and Solar Quest LOOKS AWESOME!

  • I've just bought Scramble from EBay! hehe

  • Why did i watch this? I must buy a Vectrrex now! Thanks for giving me more ways to spend money i don't have!

  • LOL

  • lol you said it :)

  • hehe

  • @spoung45a Just emulate it! That's what I do when a review of an old game interests me.

  • @Mooco5 The only emulator for the Vectrecx sucks because it does not work at all.

  • @spoung45a flawless victory.

  • @spoung45a Just got the girlfriend to get me one for my birthday !

  • Comment removed

  • @spoung45a You are one lucky Son of a gun there my friend. Don't lose her, or the Vectrex. ;)

  • @spoung45a congrats, thats like a blowjob time 100, because of its awesome replay value, lol

  • @spoung45a Looks like a damn addicting game! Congrats for having an awesome girlfriend!

  • Looks great!!!

  • Check out the Shoptalk section of my website PlayVectrexDOTcom for help on repairing your controller. Take care.

  • BTW, that overlay is the one I usually leave on my Vectrex 24/7. I love the retro look.

  • Hey there was no "scramble" but there was a nearly identical scramble ripoff called "Super Cobra" for the 2600. Great game. Have you tried repairing your controller?

  • My first touched arcade machine... Legend!

  • I love the glow coming off of everything! Great review! Pity I don't have a Vectrex lol!

  • I LOVE scramble. Never have finished it though.

  • if anybody lives in tucson arizona and wants to trade a classic system like a nes or an atari for a ps1 please send me a mesage it does not have the tv connector but works great works on ps2 tv connecter

  • 4:26 "son of a bitch"

  • @PyrotechnicAnarchy you herd that 2

  • Now I totally want a "Scramble Overlay" pattern couch for my basement. That would be smooth.

  • 4:28 sounds like "son of a bitch" rly quiet :P

  • I heard it too.

  • To be honest I thought you were full of it as I've watched this video many a times, but really; you're right.

  • OH MY GOD XD ROFL 6:42
