Seriously I was having fun. Look, dude. Just calm down and drink some water. Call your girlfriend and tell her you love her. Stop wasting time on this. If you really think I am a prick, as you implied. then more the reason for you to spend times on people on people you care? Have a nice day.
You think I am the bully. You go ahead and report this to Youtube and they can read the published texts here and they can decide who started insulting people.
deceasedpuker and I were having fun debating back and forth. I wasn't hurt and he wasn't hurt. We were having fun and guess what? All of sudden, you injected yourself in a middle of a game started insulting people by calling names. Who is the bully?
Here, is the difference between you and me. I am discussing idea. You are making it personal. You go back and read my posts. They were originated from idea and concepts. You peach tolerance. Yeah, right? Who is the one started personal attack? You called me a prick and an arrogant fool. Only a true bully resorts to personal attacks, and that is you. You have a difference of idea. Fine, debate the idea. Stop insulting people.
I never personally insult deceasedpuker if you read carefully. Personally, I think Ashram is stronger than Kashue anyway, but not by a lot. Just because I believe Ashram is slightly stronger, it does not make me stop thinking and question from the other side.
You need to calm down. If it is so crystal clear, then why do you need to make your points. I am sure other people can make their own conclusion. His opinion of Ashram stronger than Kashue does not brother me. In what way, do I sound like he really brother me. I am quiet enjoying the debate with him, but if you are not enjoying, why join?
Shadow, Read carefully and see who escalates it. I was merely asking him question without attitude before he suddenly told me that I am asking for answers which do not exist. Well, if I have been asking answers which do not exist, then I wonder what kind of answers he has been providing.
Woah, woah, woah. What's going on here? shadowgeyser, I dind't think Chemicalkinetics was being a "prick" and Chemicalkinetics, I thought we were just having a more serious-type fun discussion.
One of the greatest virtues of Japanese animations or Japanese stories is that there is that the good and evil is not so clear cut. For example, characters like Raoh from Hokuto no ken or Char from the original Gundam. I have watched the OVA. Ashram was portrayed as power obsessive after Beld was murdered and before Pirotess was killed, but really what did he do that is purely evil? He wasn't trying to destroy the world like Wagnard. After Pirotess was killed, he was on the path of revenge.
Parn may be the main protagonist in the series, but Ashram is HANDS DOWN the best swordsman of 'em all! I wouldn't dare cross him in a fight. Plus, he wasn't truly evil like his previous master was (Beld) but rather someone who just did his duty more than anything else.
Neither Beld nor Ashram is truly evil. Beld sees his conquest as justified in light of Fahn's unification plan. When Fahn protested and said that he does not want to conquer Lodoss, Beld replied "Unification or Conquest, there is no difference." Ashram, is not evil. His intention to protect residents of Marmo is quiet noble, which is why Pirotess fell in love with him. Wagnard is the truly evil one who plan to kill all beings and rule the them as an undead king (lich king).
I watched the OVA. Since Kashue and Ashram never fought head to head, what makes you think Ashram is stronger? Or do you mean Ashram has a powerful sword (the demon sword) and Kashue does not.
How about I say this? Parn was a horrible sword fighter. Before the great battle between Farn and Beld, Parn is certainly not as strong as Karshue, and I cannot see him suddenly surpass Karshue by the end of OVA.
Ashram took a long time to defeat Parn. You think Karhsue will take that longer?
Here is another tougher question for you. Deedlit and Pirotess seem very equal to me, do you think they are equal in battle skill or not?
How, specifically, did Ashram take a long time to defeat Parn? Of course, they kept getting interrupted; between Fahn & Beld, the Dragon, and then Wagnard, but how did it take him a long time to beat him? And in this clip, at least, the battle was drawn out to create suspense and give an epic finisher.
It is more than just suspense. Parn has become a much better swordman, so Ashram can no longer defeat him as easy as before. I am referring exactly to the last battle in OVA (this clip). Are you saying that it will take Kashue even longer to defeat Parn? If not, then won't it mean Kashue is stronger?
Why are you looking for answers that don't exist? This whole debate is based off of character aficionado; you favoring Kashue, my favoring Ashram. And besides, from Parn's whiny talk to Ashram's taunt eliminated, this fight was actually very quick.
I am not looking for an answer, you are. You go back and look at my initial post. Never did I say Kashue is stronger than Ashram. You are the one who said Ashram is stronger and then I ask why. If I am looking for answers that do not exist as you have accused me, then you must be the one who providing the answers that do not exist.
Hey, like I said, I didn't say anything about Kashue and Ashram. You did.
How are you not looking for an answer? You said Beld was better than Kashue, so I said Ashram was better than Beld. You then proceeded to ask, "Are you sure Ashram is stronger than Kashue?" I misinterpreted the main debate anyway, as I thought typhoonvash was stating that Kashue was not stronger, but just a better character, leading to it seeming like you stating Beld was a better character, &c. And although you haven't stated straightforward that Kashue is stronger, you've implied it.
Like I said, if I am looking for an answer which does not exist, then you are the one provide an answer which does not exist.
So are you providing an non-existing answer when you repeatedly claimed Ashram is stronger than Kashue?
If you are not providing a non-existing answer, then I must not be asking a non-existing question. If you are providing a non-existing answer, well then.
But it all depends...your question could be viewed as existing because of Chronicles, yet if it involves the OVA which I strafed the question to, then it technically doesn't exist. So I guess you asked an existing question in which I made it farce and answered...
in the novels( they're being translated in French) About the much anticipated Ashram/ Kashue fight..Not only it last about 1 page and isn't much detailled ,worst, it "sound" like Ashram got totally pwn and I mean REALLY pwn...damn! !!! I started to dislikes Kashue because of Maar and Parn constant " oh He's so cool He's like the best swordman EVA!" *drool*" attitude. Deedlit said that both of them were equal though
Anyway.. Ash was the only one capable of taming soul crusher!
I actually think the English VAs in LODOSS OVA are generally very good (Deedlit especially). But yeah, John Knox is awesome as Ashram; it's a shame he didn't do anymore Anime dubs. He did reprise his role for the character in the LODOSS TV dub (as did most of the other cast members); it's just too bad that it's not on the same level as the quality of this OVA dub (I do like Crispin Freeman and Angora Deb as Spark and Leaf, though).
He's still acting? Wow, that's good to know. But seriously, I thought his Ashram was spot-on. Most of the other VAs are quite good too: Parn's VA has done other Anime shows and various plays, and Deedlit's, well, she's Lisa Ortiz. 'Nuff said. Etoh, Wagnard and a few others in this dub are still acting, but most of them were probably just one-timers for this show. Either way, it shows that even an older dub like this can still emerge as noteworthy and even stand the test of time.
Hey, in the Lodoss Island sketches does John Knox do Ashram? There's a HUGE difference in voice between "normal" Ashram and "Island" Ashram. If it's still John, he's a damn good voice actor, pardon my language.
The dubbing for this show is fucking hilarious.
