What works better than a Stimulus Package is avoiding financial emergencies in the first place. Peter Schiff has spoken out for years about unsustainable practices in U.S. monetary policies. Sounds like if enough people donate towards a campaign he may be "drafted" into running for senate. Google his name if anyone is interested. Whichever Democrats said that were talking rubbish. No one had any idea how bad the situation would turn out to be. No one knows what unemployment figures would be without the stimulus.

Ultimately though, Obama was given the Presidency at a time when Bush had already screwed up the USA. Its unfair on him - he started his presidency in a deep hole. The real damage was done in the prior 8 years, and Obama has only had a short time to rectify the situation. So hating on him is unfair.

A spike in gas prices could also create a Ross Perot-like big sucking sound out of those same wallets. I'm not seeing a sudden jump up in GDP growth this year.
