Duramax's are terrific motors. My mom had a choice 5 years ago to get an 01 LB7 duramax or a 01 cummins for same price, but the duramax had 180 and the cummins 80ks. The dodge took a shit, she should of bought a duramax
We spin stock duramax's past 5000 rpm's all day. The bottom end's will handle it fine. It's the valve train we need to address when we want to spin higher. On fully built engines with rod's, piston's and valvetrain upgrades we've seen 6000rpm.
If you don't know what you're talking about, why even post anything?
@floppycock9 No its not. PPE, makes programmer's and other performance part's. The PPE dual fueler kit's use bosch CP3 injection pump's. As far as I know PPE donesn't make their own.
My stock turbo peaks at 35 psi according to my edge attitude monior when I turn it up on level 5 and get in it hard; but I have an 07 lbz (not sure why there would be such a large difference) Normal driving range is usually 5 - 15 psi
dieselpower4477 didnt mention anything about a cummins lol hes was just referring to the actual maker of the duramax u FUCKIN DOUCHE!!!!!!!! which is actually ISUZU not GMC why dont u get out and learn some stuff dumdass
Who said that this was a stock Dmax? It makes 630hp/1147tq at the rear wheels.. Dyno tested... The truck will actually rev higher than 5000... :D but there is no real need for it yet.
@carter1000001 if you notice when he gets on it, it does shift at around 3200. most of the time just cause it redlines at 5000 doesnt mean its going to actually shift at that point unless its been built and reconfigured to do so
@carter1000001 I got my old 06 Dmax up to 4200 Stock. Ill miss that truck. Gosh damnit she had more power than any other truck ive ever incountered. I out ran some little smart ass who was driving a F450... Hahaha sucks for him
When you are hauling something and you use the engine brake in towing mode the rpms can shoot that high, and it is normal. This started in 2006 I think. Owners were freaking out that they were tearing up their engines.
@FriscoJarretts, if your talking about chevrolet, then i do believe 08-09... 06 was still pretty basic with tryin out the allison. in 2007 the current allison was put in and a few other minor modifications were done (ect- factory high idle switch) then late 2007 they started the current body styles.
@JustinHansen6669 what are you talking about? "06 was still pretty basic with trying out the allison?" since 2001 when the duramax hit the streets, the allison has pretty much been the same expect alitte different tuning and in 06 they came out with the 6speed allison. and the factory high idle mode was put into trucks from factory when the second generation duramax(LLY 2004.5-2005) came out.
the 3200 redline is for when the truck is in towhaul mode to show you how much the truck is holding back...if you drive a dmax and haul anything put it in towhaul and let it down shift. it will go past the 3200 mark. as for stock dmax...well welcome to the world of mods, you dont get that hp with a stock struck..lol
