Ctrl + alt + 1 (in cs4 its 2-5)selects the channel information of the channel 1(RGB)channel. if you're image is only black and white, it doesn't matter which channel you select.
ctrl shift i, is to invert that selection. Because you're actually only selecting the white image. Therefore to fill the space with black you need to invert it.
exactly what i wanted!

Wow, this did work a lot better!
Tried it out twice today. Could you explain the commands though? like cntrl+alt+1 does what?
lard444 3 years ago
I will try it out! but Bugmeyer's tutorial was still good. He tipped about the dodge on corners, and explained it too.
lard444 3 years ago
this is the same method as bugmeyer's just simplified.

Even simpler! Now, how does one do that on a Mac?

replace ctrl with command.

This is a better and faster method than Bugmeyer's tutorial. Thank you very much!
