  • good job.. its easy and protected

  • Wow, I love the simplicity of this, great idea!

  • Why not use one. you attach it to the lens with a rubber band.

  • @leiefilm If you use one bag, it would not be as easy to turn the zoom on the lens. I guess it would work OK if you are shooting with a prime lens. Rubber band would not hold it strong enough, but the filter tread method I show in the video is just fine.

  • The 7D and K-5/7 have excellent weather sealing, just as good as Canon's top of the line 1D. Any assertions to the contrary is pure speculation based on cost. People think just because a camera is $6000 it HAS to be better in weather sealing. Not true. Your paying 6K for FF and all the other goodies.

Weather sealing is weather sealing. It's not rocket science to implement. There are plenty of photo on the net showing the 7d in the harshest conditions.

  • i found using 1 thick one works just fine. and also the thick ones work ABSOLUTELY AMAZING as a pop up flash diffuser

  • @cookiepwnsU

I found that if you use one, you would not as easily be able to put your hand under the bag to zoom the lens. If you are using a prime lens, you would not need to zoom it, so one would work great.

  • @profroopchan ye, i just use a big bag, also a note. if using as a flash diffuser don't use it in big bursts or you'll get the bag to incinerate a little

  • Pentax cameras K10D, K20D, K200D, K7 and new K5 with DA* or WR lenses can withstand any weather on earth without any problem.. mine K20D with DA18-55WR got 1.5h rainstorm with heavy downpour while shooting flashes on sky and no moisture got inside.

MF 645D with DFA*55 lens is also sealed on same level..

Also Olympus E-1/E3/E5 are sealed with SWD lenses like 12-60..

Canikon sucks.. only Canon 1D/Ds and Nikon D3/3x are weather resistant with guarantee. Other models do not.

  • Or you could just get a Pentax K5 & 18-135mm lens. The pentax is far more sealed than this outfit...

  • @WeetodidDan Canon has lots of weather sealed products. The 7D has similar sealing to the Pentax K5, however, if you want REAL weather sealing, then the 1D and 1Ds series of cameras give you the ultimate sealing. Most of Canon's newer L lenses are weather sealed as well.

  • @profroopchan I can assure you that the Canon 7D nowhere near as sealed as the Pentax K5. Canon say that the 7D has an "environmental seal". The Pentax K5 weather seals are equivalent to that of the Canon 1D & 1Ds series at a fraction of the price....

  • @WeetodidDan Well, either way, I do not photograph in the rain much, and if I am a photojournalist, where I would be caught out in the elements weather I like it or not, I would get a 1D series camera. I have an olympus waterproof/shock proof camera which I use when I am going diving into water. That can handle all my water needs. Not even 1D cameras can come close to the weather sealing of that little camera.

Of course, when image quality is important, I use my Canon, with wide array of lenses

  • my friend ,this is could be use for light raning but if you use bookstore bag i think is much better,

    thanks for your video

  • @sharagim1 I did use a book store bag for my 70-200 at the time. I have the non-IS version, so it is not weather sealed.

  • mmm...and when you will shot where put your head?

    it's not very comfortable

  • @sirioo81 Put your head under the bag. If its raining, I think you would be happy to have your head under the bag and looking out through the view finder.

Or you can spend thousands of dollars and upgrade to weather sealed equipment, like I have done now.

There are also outfits made to cover your camera. Of course, these costs money. If you want to run out and get a shot in the snow or light rain, this will work fine.

  • get a Pentax .. weather/dust sealing and shake reduction built in.. I always laugh at guys like this.. so funny to see them outside trying to take pictures with plastic bags over everything.. haha..

  • @tonyjayice laugh at you for choosing pentax. Canon makes lots of weather sealed products as well. They just cost more. If image quality is the most important thing, then buy the gear that gives the best image quality. I am only using "weather sealing" like once in the past year? Why would I need to buy degraded image quality products just to have a feature I would only use in a freak snow storm?

  • Great info

  • But if u use 70-200 2.8L IS u dont really need a trash bag on it..... it is already weather sealed by canon.......... Tested myself... its fine!

Was referring to ur replay to someone else earlier

  • @faloc Mine is non-IS, so mine needed to be weather sealed.

  • thanks man!!! I will send you some pics of the rain forest in Ecuador.

last time my camera luckily only went on strike. It wont happen again!!!

    THANKS !!!

  • @tobarismo

You might consider using a thicker bag if you need more sealing. For my camera with my 70-200 f/2.8, I used a thick bookstore bag. It was way more durable than the grocery store bags.

You should consider purchasing real weather bag for a big trip though, because this is mainly for light use.

  • thank you very much! that's a great tip for some outdoor shooting while snowing!♥

  • You are welcome. Have fun shooting in the snow!

  • this is good stuff

  • Awesome video, this looks like it would be a perfect solution for my outdoor shooting needs, goood job
