June 29, 2008, Seymour Hersh reported in the New Yorker: Late last year, Congress agreed to a request from President Bush to fund a major escalation of covert operations against Iran, according to current and former military, intelligence, and congressional sources. These operations, for which the President sought up to four hundred million dollars, were described in a Presidential Finding signed by Bush, and are designed to destabilize the countrys religious leadership.
who the fuck is galen? what a moron - the Obama-haters are throwing everything and the kitchen sink - any foolish attack that comes to mind after not enough sleep and too much coffee - they must realize how idiotic they sound, - they got nothing, but still are expected to keep talking - it's a real embarassment -
We have to find other things for these people to do. Gardening, volunteer firefighters, something, anything, but letting them spin ridiculous tales in print and on TV. They're intellectually useless.
Just for the record, and to help you grasp the full ridiculousness of his theory, he's not referring to Obama's Cairo speech. Believe it or not, he's claiming that it was Obama's f-ing HAPPY NEW YEAR (Norouz Mobarak) greeting on Persian New Year that the Iranians took as a clandestine signal to stand up and revolt. Here it is. Sinister, isn't it?
please remember. this guy was in the white house as bush 41 encouraged the southern shi'ites and northern kurds to uprise during the gulf war, and then once they did, signed a ceasefire allowing saddam's helicopters to go and crush the rebellions. it's called psychological projection. bay of pigs? fuck you.
I'm Iranian and I say this is BS. If you take our words for it he is just delusional. It was, and still is, our election, our struggle and our own choosing; it had NOTHING to do with what Obama said.
Of course, it didn't. Iranians didn't need some secret Obama code to want to go up against Ahmadinefraud and his cronies who are trying to hold on to power by rigging a national election. Rich Galen is a typical mindless neo-Con douche nozzle who is spinning fairy tales in a failed attempt to pin something on Obama.
Iran had its revolution 30 yrs ago. In fact, the present unrest is mostly the result of in-fight between the leaders of that revolution. Just because some Iranians are protesting in the streets it does not mean that they are looking to overthrow the regime or turn Iran into a pro-USA state. So be careful what you support.
Good point,Mousavi would not even be on the ballot if he were deemed untrustworthy by the supreme council, Mousavi was and is deeply entrenched in post shah Iranian policy, especially foreign policy,This is for the Iranians to work out ,Obama say's "hands off" I am afraid that is a lie , we are heavily involved unfortunately
I wonder if Obama had done what the Republicans say they want him to do, if the Republicans would have taken the opposite position (THE ONE OBAMA NOW HOLDS?)
Of course they would. Republicans clearly HAVE NO PRINCIPLES. except one -- oppose everything Obama does and says.
The evidence is overwhelming that our intelligence agencies along with mossad and m1-5 are heavily involved in this "green revolution" this admin. tone and rhetoric has changed, but on a tactical level it remains the same
Yeah, and maybe when the young Iranians watched that speech they mistook Pres. Obama's blinking as him actually winking but with both eyes at the same time.
Cause they want to see him spread himself thin. It's obvious like a boxer throwing a feint trying to create an opening. However Obama hasn't fallen for it yet.
Gee, I wonder -- if Obama had come out accusing the Iranians of fixing the election, IF THE REPUBLICANS WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE OPPOSITE POSITION, AND CRITICIZED HIM FROM THAT DIRECTION.
I dont REALLY wonder. I know exactly what they would do. Whatever opposes what Obama does.
The GOP convinced their hordes of moron voters that Iran were the bad guys. The result of this was that many Republican supporters wanted to nuke Iran. Now the GOP is trying to generate sympathy for Iran??? Talk about hypocrisy and double standards.
The last time we interfered with Iranian Politics we ended up with a CIA coup that destroyed a Democratic elected Government and ended up with what we have right now. We use to have a great relationship with Iran until we decided to stick our noses in their business. The GOP are hoping for Obama to talk shit because it would be the biggest mistake he would ever make, Its a bait and I think the Obama Administration realizes that. GOP are so ridiculous.

Republican plan:
1. Convince Obama to talk shit about Iran.
2. Obama talks shit about Iran and Ayallolah responds by calling America "The Great Satan"...again.
3. Irani people listen to Muslim clergy and start burning flags in the streets and saying "Death to America!"
4. Republicans say, "Obama is endangering America! He is not keeping America safe and Irani threats are proof!"
5. McCain run in 2012 with more "foreign policy experience" as platform issue.
