In my opinion, i think it's possible.. The Mayans never said it would be the end of the World. It is the last day of the current calender. The next day begins the next 26,000 years (or so) calender cycle. Nor is there anything 'spooky' about the start of the next calender cycle. It will be just another day in terms of Earth time.

I do remember watching a documentary on tv about the Myans how arciologists found myan language scripted on one of their pedestal monuments translated to `Stairway to Heaven'. At that point I figured out that `The Tower of Babel' was also called `Stairway to Heaven'. December 2012 is the begining of a Great change, but not the end of the world as GOD is the only one that can say when the world will END. The Mayan calendar will restart a new year, 0001 on December 22, 2012.

The mayans concieved of our current age being the 5th age - according tot eh TOLTECs who origionated the calendar - it symbolizes the beginnings of the "6th world" as they called it. Research... Aztec's were the 'crazy mountain' people who eventualy came down and took over the civilizatin from the Toltecs. Fascinating history. The Toltec calendar is NOT an end of days. Only when interpreted from Christianity's apocalyptic theology could such an idea be brought forth.

Global Warming, Famine, War etc... has increased, if this prophecy has been around for age's. Why is it only becoming popular now? Because of the things going on in our society today? such as Global Warming. Famine, the economy dropping? Its just another thing to blame it on... some myth.
