Dorothy K died not long after this, in a bedroom she never used, in a bed she never slept in, wearing an old prescription of glasses she didn't wear, holding a book upside down she'd already read. She was investigating JFK's assassination. (Accidental death). Sad.
I think the film of Hello Dolly was made just 4 years later in 1969. What a shame they didn't cast Ginger Rogers instead of Barbra Streisand. I think Streisand was too young for the role.
@TheRiverquest yes, barb. was too young. the film would have been great with ginger, her age was right at the time, and she could sing, so it wouldn't have been like Lucy doing "Mame"
I have never seen this one. Thanks for the upload. Where did you get it? I would like to get Ginger's appearances on What's My Line. I enjoyed it. Carol and Ginger were great friends even though their movie was not that great.
8:09 -- David Merrick, the Broadway shark who produced Hello Dolly, appeared as a mystery guest the next year (1966) on a 10:30 live broadcast on a night when another episode of WML was videotaped at 8:30 for later broadcast. Not being an actor, he arrived early. He sat in the control booth, watched mystery guest Pearl Bailey and started contemplating an all-black version of "Hello Dolly." Gil Fates claims Merrick and Bailey went out for supper at 11:00 p.m. to discuss that production.
0:10 -- Wow: Dorothy Kilgallen at the height of her big-hair,sophisticated woman of the world, international journalist phase. Stunning gown, too.
1:00 -- Arlene looks good, too. Too bad 1965 WML did not broadcast in color, particularly on a night when Kilgallen, Francis, Channing, Rogers, and Ball all appeared in their best high fashion.
There are "I've Got a Secret" "WML" YouTube clips involving Arlene Francis's gimmick for "Mrs. Dally" -- she had to play the slide trombone.
haha I love Carol Channing. I was lucky enough to see her in Hello Dolly in '95 when I was 6 years old. My parents took me because I was obsessed with the movie.
Also <3 Ginger! You can tell they are good friends
Ginger's head looks so tiny compared to Carol's head. Funny to see, but both are beautiful and talented.

I saw Ginger at the London Palladium in 1985. She was on a double bill with Donald O' Conner. A wonderful show. Ginger has such amazing eyes.

I am positive they told them the guests ahead of time. It tickles me that Ginger carried her evening bag out with her lol.

I love every single post of WML. THIS MAY BE THE BEST EVER !!! Showing the intro's, Bennett's horrid quip, and my heart's desire : Ginger Rogers.
