Absolutely magical . only film can capture images like these that literally take you back in time like you are there. Analog video technology which came out in the 70's never succeeded that.. Even today's digital video can't match the magic of film despite all the high definition details and everything digital video has to offer. I'm guessing this is either 16mm or super8 however strangely there is time code in these footage which did not exist back then with handheld 16mm film cameras.
@TubeIwatched It's 16mm Kodachrome reversal shot by Roddy himself. The original 16mm film was telecined with a Rank Cintel Ursa in 2001 to Digital Betacam, and U-Matic SP analog window dubs were made from them. That's what you're looking at here. We are professional filmmakers. Roddy was a friend of ours and gave us access to these films ten years ago.
Labor Day at Rock Hudson's house part one and part two seem to be the same clip. Otherwise, I'm loving all the clips! Are rare glimpse into the lives of these iconic talents. Thanks for posting them.
@syncopated Really sorry about that! Lost track of different edits in the AVID as I was exporting and uploading them... By the time I realized it, figured that it was better just to leave them both uploaded- so that nobody would get lost! Oops...
Great video, thanks, give us more! :)

These films are mesmerizing. Is that Natalie Schafer at 1:33?
Chasedad 5 months ago
@Chasedad It most certainly is! My grandfather, Abner Biberman, directed her in episodes of Gilligan's Island!
