  • wow, i think i might actually prefer the luther

  • wow! Luther wins. Great pedal dude, it also wins against the TS.

  • Very close! Price wise YOU win!

  • Any chance you'll upload higher quality videos?? The audio is degraded in 240p.

  • Timmy has more choices, prob a better dist; luther still comes in clearer and suprisingly bassier! Glad I just ordered my LD, but Timmy is def up there on the list!

  • hey gear man dude you did a great job with the L drive I think it has its own sound.

  • Timmy's great, but I prefer the Luther. Doesn't clip as strongly on the milder settings

  • is it just me or does the Timmy sound stronger, more punch, or presence or something throughout this whole demonstration?

  • you shouldn't feel deflated... the Luther was awesome. Awesome

  • I dont know who u are.. but your voice sounds like Jack Black .. :D

  • Wow, a Tube Screamer clone and a more-or-less Tube Screamer clone.

The world is full of wonders...

  • @Linsenpuppe I used to really like Linsenpuppe.... I wanted to become him..... But it turns out he's a reeeaal douche.

  • @stilt37 May I quote you, Mr Braindead? "guitar. boobs "... Get the nipples out of your eyes and learn to read schematics ;-)

The Luther is surely a very close TS clone, maybe with small mods. The timmy is different, of course, but based on a very similar circuit design. I like both pedals, I built clones of the original TS808 and the Timmy. I prefer the Timmy, because it´s a bit more versatile.

  • @Linsenpuppe I wasn't remarking on the specs of the two pedals. I was commenting on your negativity. There is only so much any person or manufacturer can do to build upon the original overdrive effect.

I'm braindead because I love guitar and boobs? okay. lol The timmy is a great od, I personally prefer the Tim for the more pronounced low end. To each his own.

  • Deffintley luther

  • I'm givin' it to the Timmy.

  • Well...I have played the Timmy, and I own a Luther. Both are great, but I dig the smoother vibe of the Luther. Just my opinion though. Both pedals would have a place on any board.

  • luther!!!

  • how much is the luther?

  • They both sound great. That's high praise for the Luther Drive as I consider the Tim/Timmy the best OD pedals on the market.

  • Luther is bit more sweeter(or smoother) then the slightly harsher timmy.

  • For my set up I would prefer the luther

  • TIMMY - more gain, treble has more transparency

LUTHER DRIVE - sounds bassier on chords, mids sound more transparent

*like always, it depends on what other gear you're using, how all of your gear complements/works against each other, what sound you're looking for, how it feels, and what you're willing to pay.

  • I have to say, i like the Luther better....

  • woo, I just requested this Luther vs Tim on the new stack vid,,,,GMD already did it !!!

You rule Dr. Cool !!! The Luther is basic but really has major cow bell !!!

It is rumoured that anyone using the curly white cable of magic with the sad ring of destiny, wearing the boots of cooldom becomes the mythical GMD !

Crank it TEL man, you are the best !!!

  • Great videos. From this I prefer the Luther Drive, the Timmy sounds a bit fizzy to me in comparison.

  • It's hard to judge which is better without messing with the knobs myself, but from this vid, I think I prefer your Luther GMD. Good work!

  • Stack these two pedals Luther into the Timmy and watch the F out! They both Rock!

  • think i prefer luther

  • They both sound great. I'm impressed.

  • Great shootout. My question is non-related, though. Who plays the song that is used in the end?

  • Luther isn't as gainy but its hard to get over how much warmer it is. Luther > Timmy

  • the timmy has more gain and the luther is warmer

  • That Timmy does sound freaking awesome.

  • i used a timmy with a luther for a while... its not a "one or the other" shoot out that should have been done.

can you do a stacking shoot out?

    SHO>timmy vs.

    Luther>timmy

  • the Timmy 'master of all overdrives' ...

    I second that +a gazillion

  • hey, the amp sounds stinkin good!
