I also thought about that, and now that you point it out, I think it is MEMRI's biased translation inheritance's in my version. It sounds somehow very different, since the verb he mentions before the pause sounds like "talash kardand" (3rd person plural past tense declination), and then continues "Ooh... keshand", ooh meaning "and" in Farsi, and keshand being another verb in past tense (the whole phrase seeming much longer than simply "killed"). Thank you for bringing it up, I will ask about it.

This is what a real Iranian says:
He actually says, "Baraye hamin bood ke jenayat karan talaash kardand ou ra bokoshand va be salib bekeshand" = "That is why the criminals TRIED to kill and crucify him", which makes perfect sense, since he means that they tried doing that and didnt succeed. So no paradox with the Quran there.
Thus indeed the translation was another piece of MEMRI bias or incapacity to translate properly. No wonder why they translate "Marg bar Amerika" to "Death to America".

It means "Down with America", as in down with the corrupt political system even many Americans disagree with, not as in, kill the American people.
MEMRI, even Al Jazeera lie on this issue, but you can check the translation Iranians themselves give: Google for the image "Down with America Tehran mural". It writes below "Marg bar Amerika", and it translates to English "Down with America".

MEMRI also did this on these subtitles of Ahmadinejad, when he says "the leaders of arrogance". MEMRI translates "the (whole) US", while he is clearly talking about the US government.
It is diabolical how they do this over and over, and people actually fall for it. No wonder why the US administration realized it was convenient to create the MEMRI project, to have a source of fanatically biased translations of what their enemies are saying.
