this is awesome, normal night vision is kinda lame now adays since you can get passive night vision devices for really cheap and expensive active genII and III night vison devices are pointless unless your in the military, really it's just like having a flashlight people can't see
thermal is where it's at, see in the complete darkness and having every warm blooded organism glow, I hope infrared sensor become cheaper like ccd sensors in the furure
I've heard the lower-end price will be ~$2,000 and ~$3,000 for all the bells and whistles. The $2k version should be fine for most, maybe a little more with a couple options. Uses? Hunting, security, etc. It's outstanding that this quality of night vision is coming in at this price point. Likely less in a few years, but still much better than the $4k-10k+ for similar devices currently on the market.
@AndrewXAnarchy Usually takes place in the Alaska/Canada region, the Iditarod race is compiled of a trainer, and 6-10 dogs and are pushed through several rigorous tests. I recommend the movie Snow Dogs for more information and entertainment.
If this is repeated sorry, but does it record sound?

As of Three days ago(Jan 7 - jan 8 , 2011) - FLIR finally released the FLRI SCOUT- HOWEVER, it is NOT THE H-SERIES
Look up
FLIR SCOUT PS SERIES
It's Not the same unit- they've changed it.
The prices? 2000 dollars for the base, 2500 for the pro-
It is NOT a H Series camera like the video- meanign they changed it( which is why it didn't get sold in 2010 like it was supposed to)..
The H series cameras all look alike- but it's Now shaped differently- stats are the same though.
