  • This song is so good it scares me to death.

  • The second falsetto is at 1:53, not 1:43. Yeah, you have to give the falsetto credit. That was such a large part of the doo-wop.

  • estas sin son rolas no chingaderas

  • Who could dislike this group singing this song. This has to be one of my ATFS. I wish they were still singing today............FABULOUS!!

  • As a collector of doo-wops, this song is among the BEST! Ive ever heard!

a truly great song sung beautifully, thanks for posting this masterpiece!

  • When I pass away, I am going to have this song played at my memorial service. This song will be played and those people in attendance will be made known that this was my favorite doo wop balad of all time. No other song can compare to this song. This song was so stunning and breathtaking. I will always wonder why this song was not a hit.

  • I'm sittin' here again, for the millionth time, with goose bumps running up and down my arms. Astonishing falsetto....

  • This song was not written by Val Paliuto. Thinking Of You was written by the songwriting team Kalmar and Ruby in 1925. No criticism meant; just wanted to offer the correct data for this breathtaking song.

  • I read an article on the internet 2-3 days ago which described Tony Allen's falsetto as being "rather stunning." The definition of "stunning" is "causing astonishment or bewilderment." "Stunning" also means "of striking beauty." So...it would be impossible to describe Tony Allen's falsetto as being "rather stunning." His falsetto is incredibly stunning, not rather stunning.

  • Tony Allen...if someone ever asks you what "falsetto" means, just have them listen to this song, tell them it is the "high part" in the background, and then tell them that the man singing was named Tony Allen. The reason that Tony Allen's falsetto sounded like heaven is because his falsetto reached so high that Tony was teaching the angels how to sing.

  • One of my all time favorites, Why wasn't this #1 for months?

  • THIS IS JUST BEAUTIFUL, LOVE THE FALSETTO!!!

  • BEST STYLE OF MUSIC MAN EVER CREATED. . . ALL I KNO IS THIS STYLE NEEDS TOO COME BACK QUICK!!! W-T-F IS ALL THIS AUTOTONE WACK SHIT TALKIN BOUT MATERIAL THINGS & JUS ABOUT NONSENCE! OLDIES ARE FOREVER!!!

  • Setting the bar for all to follow! In addition it appears as though they were blended way before it was acceptable...awesome. The Four Season's would have cut their baby teeth on this

  • Setting the bar for all to follow!

  • DYNAMITE SONG....GREAT FALSETTO....NOTHING BEATS DOO WOP MUSIC....THE SOUND, THE MEANING, THE FEELINGS.....ALL FROM THE HEART !

  • great

  • Ialways think of Frankie Vali of tThe Four Seasons, when I hear a hi-pitch voice, Of coarse The Four Seasons were known to everybody back in the day, even if you didn't listen to r&r. This is the first time I heard this song & this band. The songs okey & only has one thing to say, "I'm Thinking of You". That I am & Thx4 postin'

  • simply GORGEOUS!!!!! gives me goose bumps!

  • All colors coming together to create a fantastic sound. This song embodies the best aspects of rock and roll.

  • lharrell22-Yes, great comment. Tony Allen is astounding on this. Thanks for the comment.

  • I do not remember this song at all; however, I am glad I ran across it. It is a fantastic example of the 50s love songs. The notes that are being hit in this are incredible. I can just picture teens of the 50s in their poodle skirts, saddle shoes and bobby sox slow dancing to this one on the original American Bandstand. Great post.

  • @gva0917 i use to do cocaine with a guy that stabbed someone in '55.

he said he belonged to a greaser gang called the outsiders and him and his friend took refuge in an abandoned church.

  • FABUOLOUS!

  • Oh how I love this song done by these guys!! Thank you Mr. Colon, I love you!!

  • Didn't realize the Night Owl was on this-man those Calif acts were so interchangeable.Great tune.Interesting keys nicely done harmonies.

  • Great posts on this fine tune. All true. So well produced and incredible vocals!

  • Hi, doowopdandi--

We live half way between L.A. & Santa Barbara but once I found Val, I would bug my husband to take me to listen to him every single Friday or Saturday night at the Venice Room. Now it is a karaoke bar, so I have no desire to return and my husband is relieved!!! although he learned to love all Val's music too.

  • love this song

  • Love the falsetto!! Great post. thx...Phyllis

  • Tony Allen still active out here in Los Angeles

  • Val Poliuto wrote this song. He was a classical music student as a young man, who turned to doo wop and also was one of the first Beach Boys. We used to go to the Venice Room in Montebello each week just to listen and learn from a master musician. Miss hearing him.....

  • @christinescamel i know where the Venice Rm is, never been there..Im from Venice, Ca all my life and Nite Owl is my song...

  • Great sound.

  • Absolutely love this tx 4 posting

  • OMG This song and arraingement is Heavenly Harmony!

  • I love the falsetto in the backround. This song has a haunting sound.

  • This is a FANTASTIC song, if you listen you really can tell its the Jaguars.

  • No wond people think Doo_wop is the greatest sounding music to one's ear. Nothing like it.

  • Was this the ORIGINAL recording of this song?

  • This is the original recording of the Jaguars version. I have the 45 and it's identical. This isn't the original recording of Thinking Of You, though. This song goes back to the late 40s if Im not mistaken

  • Such a classic a sound! God bless you Manny.

    -Kurt-

  • My favorite song in 59 !!! It still sends chills up and down my arms.

  • Oh!! this shit here SEEps into my heart! dawm that soprano screamer really makes this song for me!!

  • This probably one of the tighest harmony songs every made. Range of Tony Allen is unbelievable, combined with the great lead .

  • The Jaguars were an excellent Los Angeles group. I need my Thinking-Of-You fix daily.

  • Listen to Tony Allen's voice (he's the guy singing the high part in the background) at 1:39 through 1:43 on the video. Just incredible. His mind-boggling sound is KILLER...JUST UNBELIEVABLE. And this song was not a national hit. What a shame. This song cannot be compared with any other song. It is just soooo fine.

  • That's Tony Allen doing the falsetto work? Sounds like Jesse Belvin to me

  • @lharrell22 Was that the "Tony Allen" of the "Nite Owl" fame? If so, I sang with him a couple of times back inna day. Nice guy and very talented STILL!! Also, is this the same Jaguars that sang "The way you look tonite?" featuring Val Poliuto on lead?

  • @likecrazydaddy aha! so... where is Val?

  • @likecrazydaddy aha! so...where is Val?

  • @lharrell22 i never knew who that was singing hi pitch. thanks for the info. and yes, this song should have been a national hit. shame, shame, shame.

  • I like the wanderers version better.. but this is kool, never heard it before, so thanks!

  • I guess they didn't play this one very much in my home town, Moose Liver, Saskatchewan, when I was growing up. But they should have.

  • ahhhhhhhh, I had to come back. Brings me back.

    Thanks for the post

  • This song did not get the recognition it deserved.

    It's just GREAT !!! What a sound !

    Thanks for the post

  • I'll never get tired of hearing this song. It has been my special favorite since '59.

  • outstanding track.

  • One of doo wops finest tracks,

  • The Jaquars have (what I call) a cry from the soul, it is so great.

  • this song is dedicated to someone i lost:(

  • The Jaguars.....greatest of all the Los Angeles doo wop groups. I worked many years with founding member Manny Chavez .

  • This is the Jaguars at their finest. How sweet. If you love DOO WOP, this is a must sound for your collection.
