If I'm not mistaken, that looks like the tag team of Vince Leonard and Jack Jones (Vince's first black co-anchor) chowing on a slice of pizza near the construction site
I remember watching this spot waaaay back in 1980. I lived in Philly and remember this marketing. I'm sure there were several more spots that were similar where they actually had REAL people in the street sing the song. It was GREAT classic philly tv. I think most viewers had a love hate relationship with
KYW TV during the late 70s and early 80s. They took some huge chances that no station would take today and it was fun to see some crash and burn disasters whether local news or programming.
Thank you for posting this promo! That tune has been in my head for almost 30 years! I remember a later version of the promo where people in Philly sang lines from the song. My brother got to sing one of the line, and he was REALLY bad.
They used to suck until the mid-90s - now they're a pretty competitive station in Cleveland.
Now that they aren't a "revolving door" for NBC -- and Gannett's decided to keep good people there, they're near the top of the ratings instead of the bottom.
The roller coaster shot is from Wildwood? Is that the Supersonic from Sportland Pier or the Zyklon from Mariner's Landing?

This was when KYW was an NBC affiliate owned by Group W/Westinghouse. Now it is a CBS O&O Station, like its sister station KCBS.
The same jingle was used on KNXT (KCBS) in the late 1970s, but KYW and KCBS didn't become sister stations until 1995.
I'm very partial to the KYW jingle rather than KNXT version, reminds me of WTOP (WUSA) Keep Your Eye jingle.
