Today some people complained that MvC3 has less characters than MvC2. When you look back at how clone infested MvC2 was and the amount of unsuable characters even in casual play, you start to see that MvC3 has way more characters than its predecessor. and lets not forget about MvC2's cousin in clone central Super smash bros Melee

I feel like the issues with characters in Mvc3 and Umvc3 is Also partially Marvel's fault. Licensing costs shit-tons of money, Something Capcom probably didn't have until after people bought the first Mvc3.

Like all issues in Video games I see nowadays it's about time and money. Game balance and fanservice come after.

Bastards probably didn't add more Capcom characters because they ran out of licensing money and wanted to keep the roster even.

@LKdot007 MvC2 then UMvC3 has 50 characters. Mostly why is because of clones. UMvC3 has a more wider player selection and by that I mean originality. That's why I like using players like Phoenix Wright he's gameplay is like servbot, (things they usually do to attack) but Wright has his own style to it. Frank, Dead Rising is being represented gotta make something unique for Frank. Sorry went to much there but take out clones here in MvC2, UMvC3 will have a little bit more people. Well not sure.

Being that it is one of the biggest games, or was, out there, it's going to feature a random cavalcade of characters. @Eltro920 They do take the word fighting seriously when you consider the fact that is indeed called a fighting game when the gameplay is indeed that of a fighting game. So it really doesn't matter what characters they throw in, as long as the playability of the character fits that of a fighting game, it'll fit perfectly. Kratos in MK9? Kratos is from God of War, an adventure game, and is thrown into a fighting game, yet meets the word "fighting" well in the game.

I find Wolverine, Magneto, and Dr. Doom more fun than having Ryu repeated multiple times (But I still use Ryu). Having lots of shotos can be a problem, for it becomes a habit of move sets. Just look at Wolverine, Spider-Man, Morrigan, Cyclops and Cap. America. They have a few shoto moves (most commonly their Shoryuken kinda move).

Now that I think about it, a lot of the characters on the Capcom side are really underrated.

It took me forever for me to find out Anarikis and BB Hood were from Darkstalkers, I hadn't heard of Charlie or Strider before, I don't think anyone has played Sonson's game, and I'll give a virtual cookie to anyone who can tell me Jin's, Hayato's, and Amingo's game.

@mttloebach the SonSon in this game is actually the grandaughter of the main protagonist of an old Capcom NES game called SonSon (so the SonSon in this game is an original character). Jin is from Cyberbots, Hayato is from Star Gladiator and as for Amingo he was surposed to be in a Capcom game but that concept was scrapped so he ended up as an original character for this game (along with Ruby Heart)
