  • I remember buying a used SX-115 from Harrison Radio around 1963. I actually carried it in short burst (heavy!) to the subway station. Somehow I got it home without any incident. It was a superb performer and outclassed my previous Drake 2B receiver. But was it BIG and took time to heat up. It had great selectivity for CW use and the SSB audio was excellent. Years later, only my 1971 Collins S Line station surpassed the Hallicrafters gear. I miss them all.

  • Beautiful!

I always loved the look of Hallicrafters, with that big, geared dial. Very scientific.

  • Today we produce junk. i say back to old equipment, the good old days. fine craftsmanship that is meant to last.

  • This was the pinnacle of vacuum tube technology. The undisputed tops. Very difficult to come by one of these today.

  • Oh how I wish I had one of these SX-115's! Nice rig and thanks for putting up the video.

  • That was the best receiver Hallicrafters came out with in looks and performance. I'd match it against anything on the market today. Not too many of us could afford the $595.00 dollar price tag that was on it, so I bought one that was used. It was the best receiver I owned. I have ICOM equipment today and although they make great receivers, I still miss my SX-115. Maybe because it was back in a better time?
