  • i like this recipe but i have one question i dont have a microwave & i dont like it also so can i use preheated oven & for how long

  • The recipe is very forgiving. I was microwaving it 2 minutes at a clip, stirring thoroughly in between. Nuked it about 5-6 times (maybe more). I was doctoring it up with some canned pumpkin puree, as I had a "mash up" of ideas in my head for pumpkin pie inspired pedas. It worked. I might play around with the recipe more. Awesome, super easy. The hard part is waiting long enough to let it cool. Delicious! I added about 8 oz of pedas, a few pinches of cinnamon, nutmeg & cardamom. =30 pedas!

  • @NuggetMaven : Sounds interesting :)

  • @ShowMeTheCurry It WAS! Got great raves on it, and now I'm wondering what exactly is the difference between peda and burfee:)

  • These two ladies are obviously Hindu. the dot on their head is the reset button.

  • Great recipe, thank you for sharing.

  • hi made it and come out nice .

but mine peda are white instead yours are yellow how come ? and when u eat it it feels like sticky in mouth so is it any wrong ?

  • @smansi18 : The color of the milk powder determines the color of the Pedas :)

As for sticky, they should not be very sticky - try cooking them just 1 minute more next time.

  • Can we use elichi and nutmeg powder while making this receipe?

  • @smansi18 : Yes, you can. It will add a different level of flavor :)

  • how about if i want to use ghee instead of butter?

  • @smansi18 : For this recipe we have not tried ghee. Let us know if you do.

  • How many pedas can we make with this amount of ingredients?

  • Hello ShowMeTheCurry

I always wanted some easy way to make sweets because of my kids i didn't wanted to use more time so i came with one recipe which is exactly simillar to your only difference is i used Ricotta Cheese instead of condensed milk,

and it was awesome.longtime back i was making this pedas at home in US

  • @gayyika11 : We use the Ricotta Cheese for our Kalakand recipe :)

  • hey that was nice .

Can we replace milk powder or omit it?

    Pl.reply.

  • @riddiculus123 : Unfortunately, for this recipe Milk Powder is essential.

  • Where is sugar?????

  • @azmi234 : The condensed milk is super sweet and substitutes the sugar :)

  • Awesome vids now i can learn to prepare peda :)

  • refined oil can be the substitute for unsalted butter ???

  • @saurabhgrover2715

We have not tried this recipe with oil...sorry. It may work but the texture might be a little different.

  • @ShowMeTheCurry Coconut oil might offer up a different, yet pleasant taste on this!

  • what kind of milk powder did you use and where can I purchase it.

  • @mamadeeish

We used Carnation Instant Dry Non-Fat Milk. Store brands work well too. You can find it at any grocery store in the US.

  • Hi guys, I tried this out and it tastes pretty good, a few questions though. Firstly, while I was letting the mixture cool (before rolling them into balls), a lot of the butter seemed to drip out of the mixture, collecting in the bottom of the bowl. Even after I rolled them and let them cool (the next day), they are still very butterly and oily on the outside, why is this? Also they are quite sticky inside while I remember Peda to be a little bit more crumbly.. perhaps too much condensed milk?

  • Hi

thanks for a nice, quick recipe. i have milk powder, but whether it is carnation or not i don't know. also i have carnation ( nestle ) sweetned condenced milk. CAN I make as delicios pedas as you by using them. please tell me kindly. THANKS!

  • @bhavanapise

The brand does not matter. We used Instant Dry Non-Fat Milk. You can use the sweetened condensed milk but you still will need the milk powder.

  • hi ..thanks...i did check out your web site and noticed the change in new videos...thanks....i am going to try your pedas today.....lets see how does it come out...

  • thanks for all wonderful recipies....loved them...can you please use those small mikes so we could listen you perfectly because at some points its difficult to understand what are you adding......and have srequest can you post Jalebi recipy please....thanks and keep it up ...both of you are doing excellent job

  • @paheli0801 : This is an old video (about 3 years old) and since we have started using mikes :) Pl. check out some of our newer videos to see the improvement :)

Also, we do have a Jalebi Video Recipe - pl. check out our website or our YouTube Channel and search for Jalebi!

    Cheers!

  • @paheli0801 hey its so easy, thanks, we can also make stamp, by pressing plastic lid having stamp on it, and for the boarder same lid edge can be used. i am going to try this ....

  • add a little kesar and stick a small slice of pista for decor

  • wow this recipe is originally made by evaporating milk for a long time on the stove! this is a great quick alternative! awesome!

  • hi hetal to make a stamp on peda one easy trick is take a regular thread or buy from walmart take off sticker from bothsides & press it in peda u will have really beautiful flower shape on peda

  • Hi ladies, Thanks for the easy recipe. I have one question about milk powder, is it carnation powder or just milk powder? which brand? Thanks in advance.

  • @reachbhavinshah : Carnation Milk Powder is what you need for this recipe. But any other brand is also OK.

  • Can you make khoya in the microwave? If yes, care to show us? Thanx soo much in advance...

  • @onoharahigashi : Will put it on our list :)

  • @ShowMeTheCurry :sweet....tanx for all the great culinary enlightening....

  • Thanks, Very kind...

  • Hi Girls

Please tell me when to add the sugar in the Pedas. Thanks..

  • @bobchera

You do not need to add any sugar. The sweetened condensed milk takes care of it.

  • Hi Anju & Hetal

On what number or power level do we use to make the pedas ?? Pls lemem know

  • @aquaneel : it's a 1000 watt microwave and we cook at the highest power level (10)

    Hope that helps!

  • hi Anuja & Hetal, is the Coffee Creamer & the milk powder the same?

  • @rspayyav : well, Milk Powder is a dairy product while Creamer is a Non-Dairy product.

If you are thinking about substituting for this recipe - we have never tried it , may work but not sure about the taste :(

  • right in the middle of this video the volume becomes lower.

The older lady mumbles cannot understand a word she is saying

  • Hi, I could not get the milk powder in Indian & American grocery stores. Can you please tell me the brand & shop's name to get it. Thanks

  • @nehamitra1

You can look for "Carnation" brand Instant Non-Fat Dry Milk (usually found in the baking aisle of American grocery stores).

  • hi, i cant get milk powder in american & indian grocery stores. Can you please tell me the brand, & shop to get these.

  • i tried making paneer at home by adding lemon juice in milk..but it was not perfect..paneer was tasting bit sour bcz of lemon juice...wat else can i add to milk for making paneer?? plz tell

  • @rohitspathak

You can use diluted vinegar. One thing you can do to remove the sour flavor is to rinse the paneer with fresh water as soon as you drain off the whey.

  • can i skip the butter or use oil

  • thnx curry .i tried ur recipe n cme out really gud.............keep it going

  • How many gram milk powder do you use ?

  • I tried this recipe with reduced proportion but kept it for 3 minutes. The mixture became a little granualar and started oozing butter while rolling.Maybe I should have reduced the microwave time as well?

  • @sinrag2005

Sometimes, the mixture does become granular. However, while rolling them, the grains go away. When you eat the peda, you'll never be able to tell. Smaller portions do require less cooking time.

  • PENDAS R MY FAV!!!!

  • these r delicious except when u put toppings on (raisins, coloured sugar etc) i put chocolate chip on them

  • For the kids (and the kids at heart) we do the same. Keep in mind, the Pedas need to have cooled down or else your chocolate chip will melt ;)

  • i am making this right now for holi..thanks girls!!

  • is it possible to do everything on the stove instead of the microwave?

really like your videos by the way.

  • Sorry about the delayed response...

You can use the stove-top method. Use a heavy bottomed pan and cook on low heat and keep stirring so it does not burn.

  • Can i add paneer to it, i mean following the exact same microwave technic but add paneer to it? I tried this recipe last week but it was sticking to the teeth while eating, didnt come that well !!!

  • We have never tried adding paneer to this recipe...sorry, we can't give you an accurate answer.

  • @aryaksh0406 manjulaskitchen she adds paneer

  • Oh my God !! I love you guys. You made my life so much easier :)

  • hi aunty thank you very much for the grt recipe

wish u a very brightness happy diwali 2 both of u & ur family.... have a grt time

  • Thank you and a happy Diwali to you and your family!

  • I loved the way you made pedas. I use back of empty thread reel from sewing box to stamp peda. It looks just as professional if you do not want to use sprinklers. Thanks. Happy Diwali!

  • Thank you and Happy Diwali to you and your family as well from both of us!

    :)

  • Uslam:

why not fill some sweets with honey. like a HONEY centre>.

  • Hi. Since Diwali is close by even I tried this recipe..but it didn't work for me..I followed exactly same steps as it is in the video but after first 2 mins in microwave, the mixture became too thick and granular so I could not even hold it to make peda's..please tell me what went wrong.

  • The mixture does become a bit granular, but once they pedas are rolled out and have time to set, the granules go away. Did you cook it for the full 3 minutes? If you grease your hands with a little butter, it is easier to roll. Also, depending on the power of your microwave, you may have to cook it longer.

  • can u make burfi like this aswell plain milk

  • Yes, you can do that. Pour the mixture on a flat greased plate/tray. Allow it to set and then cut the pieces.

    Enjoy!

  • girls..whenever i wan a quick but looks like it took a looooong time to make recepie..i come to u and i LOVE the recepies!!

  • What a great compliment! Thanks!

  • hello, does creamer work the sameway, actually i tried with that but it tasted like just caramel.

  • Sorry, we've never tried this recipe with creamer. However, creamer taste is very different than milk.

  • Hi...i got to know the recipe...but i have a doubt.....HOw much condensed milk to be put....14 ozu said....but can u tell me....how much i have bot 1 ltr of sweetened condensed milk....how much do we need to this

  • Sorry for the late response.

    1 Liter = 33.81 oz.

So with that conversion, you will need to use a little less than 1/2 of the amount you have.

    Hope that helps!

  • I'm quite skeptical as to how exactly a pedha made with milk powder, condensed milk and butter will taste. Thats not how a pedha is made in India. Its made from thickened milk called maawaa or khoyaa, sugar, saffron, cardamom etc. I'm going to try out your way but I ain't really quite optimistic it'll turn out to be good. Btw m Indian.

  • hello do this peda taste pedas from shops in india or do they have a bit different taste comparing to them?

  • You will be so proud of yourself:)

  • Hi i'm not indian but I love all Asian food (jap, Chi, kor, ind n srl) just a quick question is it possible to use unsweetened milk n add the sugar at the end, caz sweetened milk is way too sweet for my taste buds, thanx =^•^=

  • This recipe is a quick and easy one...only 3 mins cook time in the microwave. If you use regular milk with sugar, you would have to cook it down a lot to get the same consistency. Condensed milk is sweet, but in this recipe, it is the perfect amount of sweetness.

  • Hi,

I tried the pedas but they came out chewy. I am not sure what might have been the reason. Do I have to keep the pedas out for long? I might have kept them out for an hour and then put them in the fridge. I thought that they might harden after being put in the fridge. Do advise.

  • PEDA = people eat delicious animals... lolz

  • hi ladies thank you sooooooo much i made these n no1 would believe me at first i made them n second ive made them in 3mins in a microwave so all the credit goes to u both hope u upload more lovely quick recipes that i can wow my family with thanks again loving ur shows oh by da way im in uk n get sweet shops each turn but my peda had a great taste cnt beleive

  • on what temperature do you put the microwave W600/W900???

  • We use a 1100W microwave.

  • i have a 750W how long would i put in the micowave for???

  • They look and sound great. If we don't finish them all do they need to be kept in the fridge afterwards?

  • Yes, these do need to be refrigerated. Store in the fridge but best served at room-temperature.

  • Thank you so much for the recipe and for your prompt reply.

  • is it possible to make the pedas without putting condensed milk in this recipe??

  • Unfortunately, no. The condensed milk provides the binding as well as the sweetness.

  • thank you so much

  • can you tell where can i get the milk powder and swwet c. milk

  • In the US, the milk powder is called Instant Non-Fat Dry Milk. Both the milk powder and condensed milk can be found in the baking or coffee aisle at most grocery stores.

  • i got mine from H-E-B

  • can we add eliche power in it...

  • Yes, you can add elichi or cardamom powder if you like.

  • Do you have the recipe for "mohan thal"? I Think Its Called Fugde in English. please make this recipe i beg you. my mom used to make it and its her death anniversry in 2 weeks so i would like to prepare some yummy mohan thal. please make MOHAN THAL

  • We can put mohan thal on our list to do, but unfortunately, we will not have it ready by the time you need it. Sorry.

  • ohh ok it fine ill look at someone else's recipe

  • I used the top of the thread roll. It made a flower shape. Toped with pista, cashew, or almond! very yummy!

  • My aunt used to make these hard white sweets when I was little. It seemed like it was mostly milk. Any idea what they would be?

  • does this peda harden? or does it stay a little more on the softer side?

  • It does harden up and that is why we suggest that you serve it at room- temp.

  • This is one of my most favorite of Indian sweets. I am so surprised to see how really easy it is to make. I will make this to share with family and friends, and for special occasions. Thank you!

  • Hi Anuja and Hetal, first of all thanks for this quick and yummy recipie. Today I made it and I have some questions:

    1. Do I need to make the Instant milk powder very fine as when I took it from packet, it was not very fine.

    2. Your peda looks brownish color which is really good but when I made it, it looked like yellowish color like condensed milk color. How can I get color like urs?

    3. Why my peda is soft? Do I need to add more milk powder if peda is soft?

Pls reply soon. Thanks a ton.

  • That's very easy and yummy looking peras ..that would have been great if you could show original peras made from liquid milk..the way it is made in india

  • jajajaja a had a big "peda" last night........

  • wtf??

  • Hi Hetal and Anuja, I just made the pedas...turned out excellent! My husband could not believe when I said, "Ok, I am done..now taste it ...." He said, "You are done?...Already??" He enjoyed it a lot...but I thought it had a little too much butter and sweetness in it. Would it be OK if I use 3/4 of condensed milk and butter and 2 cups of milk powder? Do let me know. Thanks again for posting this great recipe :)

  • Though we have never tried it, we think it should be OK to use 3/4th of the can of condensed milk. It may end up being a little greasy but worth a shot.

Let us know the results if you do try it:)

  • hi! happy new year!

i made this today, did exactly as instructed but after the 3rd stir when i allowed it to cool down the mix was not smooth - sort of crumbly....so had to work really hard to form shapes and it was dripping oil. did you use non fat milk powder? i used the full cream milk powder (NIDO) from indian store.

  • We used Carnation Instant Non-Fat Milk Powder available at most American grocery stores in the coffee aisle.

  • just as i suspected! well, that explains everything! thank you!

  • hey hetal and anuja..

i was making these peda's a minute ago.. i kept the mixture of butter, condenced milk and milk powder and did exactly as you said in this video. But after i kept it into the microwave 3rd time; its like a asmooth paste!! what should i do??

why isn't my peda mixture exactly as urs???

    reply back please..

    xx

  • is it too soft? what is wrong?

Also, once it cools down it will be easy to make pedas.

  • Hi girls thanks again for another brilliant recipe, just wondering as i am away from home and haven't got access to a microwave, is it possible to prepare this on a gas cooker?

  • Absolutely! I would make it in a heavy-bottomed or a non-stick pan, on low heat and keep stirring so it does not burn.

  • Hi girls thanks again for another brilliant recipe, just wondering as i am away from home and haven't got access to a microwave is it possible to prepare this on a gas cooker?

  • Thanks a lot. It's a brilliant recipe. I tried this for Ganesh Chaturthi and received many compliments for it. I'm very excited to prepare more for forthcomning Divali. Happy Divali.

  • What happens if you dont have milk powder?

Can you make it with milk itself?

  • We used the Instant Non-Fat Milk Powder. We suppose you could use whole milk powder but this recipe reduces a lot of the fat content (healthier peda :) ). Also, non-fat milk has a longer shelf life than whole milk in which the fat becomes stale and tastes rancid.

  • can i use whole milk powder.....u havent mentioned what kind of milk powder u used...plzz reply me bcoz i m gonna make pedas soon and dont eant to go wrong anywhere...please and thank u

  • i tried this receipe and it was sweet as hell...rofl.

  • maby you can use the same amount

  • thank you! I'm off to the indian store to get some powderd milk!

  • You can get milk powder from any grocery store, not just Indian. It is called instant non-fat dry milk from Carnation.

He was completely serious too (not just flattering)! I think being called a liar was the ultimate compliment and I am American. Thanks a lot.
