Hey you know, I have never been able to watch the entire video because it always stops. It loads all the way, but it keeps stopping every 5-10 seconds. I doubt it's my computer because other videos don't do that. Do you know what could be wrong?

P&G is just as bad, if not worse, than K-C when it comes to fiber sourcing and implementation of post-consumer recycled content. K-C has been targeted because they're the world's largest tissue manufacturer and if they set and conform to meaningful policy changes, that sets the standard for the entire industry. These are not lies, if you cared to do some research, you could find plenty of credible, cited sources on the matter. K-C is not inherently evil, they just need a kick in the ass.

1) Clearcutting can be a very effective, sustainable management practice.

2) It's not really the virgin fiber that's the difference, it's the problems in processing recycled paper to get the absorbancy and softness.

Please, explain to me how clearcutting can even be close to sustainable. I'm not being a dick, I seriously want an explanation.

Clearcutting gives you something along the lines of 'economies of scope' in your logging operation, making it profitable to remove the worthless timber you'd otherwise leave standing. After a clearcut site prep can be more efficient, replanting works easier, and most importantly you don't have the poor-quality standing trees that promote inefficient offspring. If it were a cornfield, you wouldn't harvest only the good stalks and leave the crap ones standing. Regrowth, not harvest type is key.

Here's the issue: Abitibi-Bowater, Kruger and the other logging companies clearcutting the Boreal are not doing it at any sustainable rate, and this is an ANCIENT FOREST- we cannot replace it. Once it's gone, it's gone, and we can reforest it, but the qualities unique to that ecosystem are no longer there. Additionally, little effort is made to reforest these areas. Instead, they're left alone, releasing the sequestered carbon and allowing the soil to erode away beyond recovery.
