Marcos is the best...during his time International Events are held in Philippines (eg Thrilla in Manila, Chess Olympiad, Ms. Universe Pageant, etc.)...Filipinos then are viewed as respectable citizens...Marcos is a man with a VISION...

i have watched this over and over and over , i am just so sad people couldnt understand this guy , i remember him when i was a kid in 1972, he was outspoken yes a fighter yes a genius yes maybe confussed about the world , and to be honest who isnt, i think people dissapointed him, and who among us hasnt felt that. Bobby was a true maverick. ... and he will always remain an enigma on certain levels. in some ways it seems to come down to this: he could never quite conqueor his own fears, ... or his considerably suppressed ego. he also, (rightly or wrongly) was convinced "the Jews, the KGB, and the American Government was out to "GET' him." ! his was a case of genius and neurosis out of control.

Beautiful pictures. This is the way I like to see Bobby Fischer. I can't believe these pictures ended up in a flea market! It's like noone cares about a great chess player of the past. Thank god these pics were saved for all of us to enjoy. The music along with the pics make this video both sad and beautiful. I didn't know Bobby had a daughter with a filipina. Thanks for sharing these. They're very poignant in that 1973 everyone thought the rest of the decade would be the era of Bobby Fischer. He was a chess god by this time. Looking at these pics now it's sad that his reign was so short and that there would be troubling times ahead.

Thanks for identifying Florencio Campomanes. I was wondering who the person was that seen with Bobby in many of the pics. It appears he was the personal host for Bobby during his stay. I do not know who the other people are, other than Ferdinand and Imelda. If anyone can identify them, It would be nice to know. Thanks.

It was actually kinda sad to a man of his stature have some of his lifelong collection just sitting in boxes in a swap meet. There were others items there, including manuals, a few chess sets and chess timers, etc. I didn't get them at the time because I couldn't prove provenance that they belonged to Bobby , but in retrospect I wish I had gotten them anyway.

KalleFlax: I think Kasparov is now the strongest player of all time. But Fischer didn't have the Russian chess machine behind him - he did it all on his own - which is probably the greatest achievement of any sportsman in the history of any sport. Bobby was awesome, but many believe that Kasparov is the strongest player in the history of the game. But then again if Capablanca or even Paul Morphy were both around now they may have proved to be even stronger than both Fischer and Kasparov.

Who knows, Perhaps Alekhine today would prove to the greatest. What's great about this video is that we see Bobby happy! After that's said and done, Bobby was a flawed genius, like George Best, and in snooker, Ronnie O Sullivan. All three, amazing sportsmen who have elevated their sport to a level that just leaves you breathless with awe and wonder.

Kalleflax. We will never know. Like in any sport It's impossible to tell who would have won from different era's - with the exception of Usian Bolt in athletics of course - but remember Fischer regarded Morphy the most accurate player that ever lived. Perhaps Morphy would have beaten both Kasparov and Fischer? And the same applies to Capablanca and his great talent? But there is no doubt that Fischer was a terrific player.
