  • Still not as good as steve vai's "For the Love of God"

  • Tremendous technique and "fire" in his playing, but this alternates between Yngwie and Orchestra to Yngwie versus Orchestra. For chops or guitar athleticism, this is incredible, but as a piece of pure music without any element of competition, this is just average in my opinion.

  • Yngwie knows only how to play fast, and to me that is boring !!

  • @69cohonas

His playing isn't even that fast here!!

Yngwie is more than just speed, there is a lot of substance to his playing!!

Don't be ignorant, learn your history!!

  • Nice to see it gets better more into the video. I would have liked to see Eric Johnson play with an orchestra behind him since he takes such ridiculous care into having a clean tone.

  • Yngwie can ride the music

  • He's not even complementing the orchestra more like drowning them out.

  • he could be the best guitarist in the world and one of the most famous , if he didnt have so much ego and this style

  • his vibrato is BEAST

  • 1:46 - 1:48 my favorite part :o

  • Picking on Yngwie for playing too fast is beyond tired. He is indeed among the greats.

  • so lovely music

  • I have yet to hear a piece of music involving Malmsteen where he doesn't always end up shredding mindlessly.

  • @MacabreHeritage not mindlessly - its all in key and phrased very good - if you want mindless shredding listen to slayer dude seriously...

  • @RedneckChexMix I once had a cover of spanish castle magic by malmsteen. The lead part started and it sounded brilliant....then descended into mindless shredding and destroyed the song. Was it in key? So what if it was? It was still mindless shred whenever he ran out of musical ideas.

  • @MacabreHeritage mindless = 1. stupid or careless 2. requiring little or no intellectual effort ,etc. This does not match with Malmsteens playing - sorry dude you're wrong - you're comments DO match though, and being in key and phrasing your licks requires a MIND cultivated in musical knowledge..like i said before mindless shredding is Slayer..Despite whether you like it or not - its not mindless shredding - your likes and dislikes don't dictate what the facts are seriously..

  • @RedneckChexMix o.k. then i'd like to hear him try and play with no overdrive/distortion just to see if he constantly shreds or plays actual distinctive musical phrases. I must admit i would be shocked to hear the latter as i am doubtful he's capable of it.

  • @MacabreHeritage heard Spanish castle cover by yngwie - sounds good to me - tasteful licks - so what now, you're right and I'm wrong?

  • @RedneckChexMix Come now Redneck he's hardly satriani or someone known for his sense of feel he just shreds. I'd be more entertained by Slayer seriously...

  • @MacabreHeritage

You're ignorant. Yngwie is a genius!!

To say Yngwie plays with no feeling is ridiculous!! Yngwie's vibrato, melodies, arpeggio's etc... are all top notch!! Everything Yngwie plays has feeling!!

Yngwie is more than just shredding, he is a great musician!!

  • @epic103 Genius LOL

  • @MacabreHeritage

    MacabreHeritage, LOL!!

  • @epic103

    Ah, we agree then.

    That's good.

  • @MacabreHeritage

I was laughing at you, not with you!!

  • @epic103

    Ditto.

    That's good.

  • Supreme Power 0:16

  • I still can't believe my dad and uncle sat with him in his tour bus. My dad was telling me how my uncle was just sitting down and couldn't even talk cause he was too overwhelmed, ahaha. He's my uncles biggest idol and ever since he introduced me to Yngwie's music, I can't stop listening to it and wondering how someone could have such talent for music... It's almost inhuman.

  • it's just, i feel as though paul gilbert is much more deserving of yngwie's spot in this video.

  • @bassist4lif31

    You can't be serious???

Paul Gilbert and Yngwie have completely different styles!!

Yngwie's style fits perfectly with the orchestra, where Paul's would not!!

  • @epic103 actually gilbert does some very nice classical pieces

  • @skangmox

Yes, he does!! I am a fan of Paul Gilbert, he is great!!

However Yngwie is 100% classical music, his style fits perfect!!

Plus, Paul has said that Yngwie is one of his hero's!! And you can see in Paul's playing that Yngwie was a big influence on him!!

  • @epic103 yngwie is king

  • I may not like all of Yngwie's music, but he is one hell of a musician.

  • 20 dislikes LOL deaf people probably.

  • OM Fuuckin GEEEEEEE. BACH woukd be PROUUUUUUUUUUUD!!!!!!! BRAVOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • @pianoplayeruk

Dude, yngwie is great. Nobody said he's the best. But he is one in his own. Maybe if you listen to his cds you'd understand. Don't diss guitar gods.

  • fuck me , the frets have been worn right into that guitar from pure playing. that's what i call a truly worn guitar.

  • @KronikDethPainz He scalloped the frets.. lol.

  • @andresoacuna kk.

  • When he goes too fast he ruins it. It's very good, but most of those fills are very unnecessary.

  • who else saw the touch at :20?

  • gay

  • Ese puto reverb en la guitarra hace que no se integre chido a la orquesta...

  • @1:10 - 1:20 I got goosebumps it sounded so sweet wow

  • when yo ask me it s amazing!

  • one of the best guitar players of all times!

  • His vibrato is brilliant no doubt, but that VERY first bend he plays is a bit over-powering and ear piercing.

  • freakin phenomenal mane!

  • The orchestra was sounding great until he started playing.

Then I stopped the video and looked for something else...

  • @pianoplayeruk your not the only one ._."

  • @Roqy96

and its clear from the orchestra members faces that they are not 'happy' playing this stuff and merely did it because orchestras the world over cant afford to turn down work.

How often does one see an electric guitarist playing with an orchestra?

    answer:

    extremely seldom.

    Why is that?

    Because there's no demand,

and that's because it sounds awful.

This style of electric guitar at best sounds terrible, and in the hands of a guy dressed like a 17th century French homosexual even worse!

  • @pianoplayeruk that whole comment made me laugh hysterically and still made sense!!! you have my respect sir/ma'am

  • @Roqy96

Glad you found some pleasure in my appraisal of this work.

  • @pianoplayeruk you wish you were him..

  • @tartaruga42

I'm very glad I'm not him.

  • @pianoplayeruk your wrong. classical music and electric guitars go together beautifully.

  • @pianoplayeruk someone's jealous

  • @pianoplayeruk Nobody wants to read your pretentious and bombastic opinions. Leave. Now.

  • Comment removed

  • @pianoplayeruk can you believe she is a girl ahah charlotte that was the dumbest comment i ever heard, wth u doing here then if u think he sucks , take your piano notes, specially the black ones and shove them somewhere...

  • Comment removed

  • @shadowkrypton

If this style was so in demand, we would hear a lot more of it. It's a simple arithmetical equation.

Very little of this type of music exists. Therefore it can only be because there is very little demand for it.

and as it's music we are referring to, it can only be because it doesn't sound good.

Any other interpretation would be nonsensical.

It doesn't take a very big brain to work that out. So please, dont try and be clever as it obviously doesn't suit you.

    Excuse me.

  • @pianoplayeruk maybe the orchestra dont want to play it and i can agree with you there but some people actually enjoy this music please learn to respect other peoples views and not be so closed minde. and what do you mean by 'theres no demand' there is obviously no one of a talent so extreme as to this young man playing guitar here has killer technique its like saying you dont like the Eiffel tower oh where do you see it, just france no one likes it, its not in demand. its called being unique

  • @KhaarJoon

Im sorry but I disagree and your analogy about the Eiffel Tower was ridiculous!

My comments were directed at those who suggest that he is amazing and extraordinary etc..

He is none of those because if he was, we all would be hearing so much more of him.

There are some amazing orchestras in this world AND extraordinary guitarists too.

This guy simply isn't one of them.

His technique is mediocre at best and this composition is very dull and uninteresting.

I just don't see the fuss.

  • @pianoplayeruk Lol this has to be my "ROFL" of the year! You're judging him for one of his most simple compositions. Do you even know what this man has done for guitar? Without him we would be still hearing the same fucking shit we hear in Rock/Metal today. We would still be hearing the same gay fucking blues solos we have been hearing since the 70's. Of course he wasn't the first to start the whole pseudo classical thing, but, he did make it popular and inspired a whole era of new virtuoso.

  • @ewanjohan

May I suggest you mind your own business as I was replying to someone elses message.

  • @pianoplayeruk yeah i was here minding my own business and then i read some negative shit that someone posted on a public forum, apparently a response to someone, but for everyone else to read.. My point is.. why spend time and energy on spewing negative energy? Focus on shit you like instead. cheers

  • @ewanjohan

Give up and go play elsewhere there's a good boy.....

  • @pianoplayeruk yep, and maybe you can come back when you've had people paying for tickets to watch your show, where you perform your original compositions instead of playing covers on a piano. full stop

  • @pianoplayeruk i think it sounds far from bad,. hes been to japan several times and they probably like him over there a lot and he has a crowd watching him . the electric and symphony is a very full and intense sound. ygnwie is known for having one of the best vibrato's on his scalloped neck, people are ridiculous in saying that he can only play one run or he sucks.. he pulls off some very amazing stuff both in studio and live.

  • @pianoplayeruk lol yngwie looks happy atleast...

    btw gotohell <3

  • @pianoplayeruk Just ask, Joe Satriani, Michael Romeo, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Jason Becker, Vinnie Moore, Shawn Lane, Tony MacAlpine, Tom Morrello, Norifumi Shima, Marty Friedman, Paul Gilbert, Michael Angelo Batio, Timo Tolki, Tosin Abasi, Joey Tafolla, Richie Kotzen, and many many others on the infulence Yngwie had on the infulence they had on their playing or how much they respect him for what he did for guitar. You might like his style but at least give him respect for what he has done!

  • @Hibria619 not like*

  • @pianoplayeruk were you asked to play in the orchestra on that night, I think not...! if you had you would of been there, then proudly telling all your friends the following week as they past your drive through window...! you fucking clown.

  • the only Virtuoso in Guitaring is BUCKETHEAD..........

  • Gilbert has his own style, not quite as classical. He still is VERY good though, would be impossible for me to say who I like more, Malmsteem or Gilbert.

  • it should have been paul gilbert.

  • I suppose this sounds like classical to people who know nothing about actual musical composition. There's no development and resolution of a theme, no central motif binding the entire piece into a cohesive whole. He does have nice hair though.

  • i think rebecca black's vocals would fit yngwie's guitar playing better than an orchestra.

  • whats the name of this symphony??

  • @feblig95 icarus dream fanfare :)

  • This is good and all, but can he play smoke on the water?

  • Chutia sala faqeer Landu aand khajvya

  • id so like to hear this guy play canon rock!! now that would be somthing!! what an awsome guy!

  • After his all asians on the orchestra started listenin to metal... :o

  • He looks like a 17th century pirate...

  • No hay como steve vai...

    pero buen video

  • Borrrrrrring.....

  • 3:12 - 3:32 best than 3:55 - 5:00 and 5:19 - 5:25 awesome he may have ego but his first cds and this was awesome

  • 14 people are deaf or stupid

  • it was great til he started playing, because it became freakin awesome

  • What dreck!

  • CHEGO ATÉ A CHORAR, COM TANTO SENTIMENTO ASSIM NA GUITARRA

  • press ctrl + God for Yngwie Malsteen shred mode....(plus 10 points)

  • well done jack sparrow!

  • asian backing orchestra is very expensive......really

  • The sound that come from his guitar is totally incompatible with the sound that the whole symphony does... He had to fill the whole theater with PA speakers to make this sound on the same level of many classical instruments playing together.

But his ego echoes higher, that's the truth..

    And this is a criticize

  • this man is the bach of today

  • he looks like a pirate.

  • in the last couple of seconds, when he abbruptly cuts off his guitar, you can hear that there is no reverb on his guitar.

    that is unusual for Yngwie.

  • @OceanderTethyseus theres no delay, there definitely reverb on his guitar. the effect cut out when you turn the volume down .

  • Comment removed

  • i wanna cry . . .just awesome

  • yeah so my parents just walked into my room and asked me, "what kinda shit are you listening to?" and i proudly said, "One of the greatest guitarist of all time". Jeez some people just dont know good music. :(

  • The title is misleading, so I will elaborate: this is a CONCERTO, not a symphony. A true symphony does not contain an epic dude playing the electric guitar at an extremely epic pace. Concertos are an ORCHESTRA backing a lead musician. The orchestra may or may not be PHILHARMONIC, however it is still a concerto.

  • Yngwie is so sick! This song is great too, I love the acoustic part

  • Suddenly, I'm hungry for scallops.

  • Yngwie is the only one allowed to play in a Symphony. So the 11th commandment says..

  • aun no puedo creer que tanto talento quepa en alguien Malmsteen y me gusta su estilo :)

  • ok im going to explain something to all of you dumbasses out there...yngwie shreds during this because thats what hes does, but in case you didnt notice, his solos have a very classical influence to them, yngwie is a true musical genious that probably knows more about guitar than anyone in the world

  • Some segment starting from 1:40 seems to sound different than what he´s actually playing. It´s edited for sure...

  • This was amazing. So incredibly awesome. Such passion!

  • he's totally fun to watch....and must say out of any rocker I've seen play with an orchestra, he's the only one suited for it in terms of comfort level and content. Other bands and rockers are nervous and uncomfortable around orchestral company and peers. Ya, he's got his quirks but I still check him out once in a while from the time when I first came across his talent in the band Steeler, in the mid 80s

  • Why do people say so much bullshit about yngwie? Do they actually know him? do they have facts to say that he's an asshole? If you had any idea of what he is doing here, you wouldn't bash him at all. He composed FOR the orchestra with significants amount of music theory, but of course, all of you who know shit dont realize it, so go eat a book or fuck off!

  • @RobertoArceCorretjer

Being a good composer is not an excuse to play guitar like shit.

  • @OMBROU can you play like that? im pretty sure that there are only a few guitarrists that can play live like this improvising most of the time. he rocked that concert all the way. sure a few mistakes here and there, but he's only human and that does not full under playing like shit

  • @RobertoArceCorretjer I can't play like that..I DON'T wanna play like that. Music is not a race where you must running faster than someone else. Music is art.

  • @OMBROU yngiwie is not an artist??u must be deaf..or ignorant..or both..u must be deaf and ignorant..but above all you are arrogant if you say that he is not an artist and you are..and believe me, the filarmonic orchestra of Japan is a group of prodigies, they could say no if they didn't consider him good enough..

  • @OMBROU they, my friend, feel music and are bigger artists than you or me or both of us together are ever going to be..and guess who is the composer and the main attraction!!!Malmsteen!!!what a suprice, for somebody who is not an artist!!!

  • @RobertoAceCorretjer my comments are adrresed to mr Roberto and not OMBROU..sorry ombrou

  • i wonder i would feel if i had a gig like this in front of thousands of people

  • Is it just me or the orchestra members seem pissed?

  • Nice boots

  • @McEvoyMikey aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh awesoooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • the guitar sound doesn't blend in with the others. Maybe just a clean with lots of chorus and reverb would sound better. Great playing wasn't fond of the tone

  • Ok....I don't get this one. What is he really doing other than "jamming" in the same key as the orchestra? Pointless musical masturbation. I'm surprised the audience stayed in their seats.

  • You do not get that good at something without being passionate about it this is just yngwie being yngwie doing what he does this is how he expresses himself who's to say "he's not an emotional player" unless you have the skill yngwie does you can't possibly know ... Anything

  • very cool mixture of old and new, yngwie tearin the strat a new one keep on rockin man

  • @Penguins7114 passion =/= emotion, just because he has the passion for guitar to be able to play fast just means that he can play fast but there is not feeling in it listen to players like paul gilbert who play just as fast, sometimes faster, and still have feeling in their music. for that reason i will never enjoy MAB or malmsteen

  • @Killer9299 i agree with you, but i don't think it makes sense to talk about faster once you break 18 nps xD

you can't tell the difference anyway.

  • @Penguins7114 I agree completely that Yngwie is an amazing player, but by your logic that means I can't judge Hitler because I'm not Austrian. Just because these people can't do what Yngwie does doesn't mean they can't criticize him.

  • @JacksonTheBoyd he means you cant criticize something you can't possibly know, like how a person feels just by looking at his face.

    Post

  • @Penguins7114 finally....someone finally understands

  • @hnkp2000 i agree hes talented in shredding but in feeling not so much. sure he plays well but he doesnt sound much enjoyable for me.

  • @guitarismysword1 What do you define as feeling? He uses plenty of vibrato on his bends, he writes masterful pieces of music with tons of feeling. I don't think you can define what feeling is, if you think that Yngwie's music has no feeling. Listen to Jeff Loomis, that guy has no feeling. Listen to even some of Paul Gilbert's music, serious lack of feeling there, right? .........

  • @DimitriVHefley sure yngwie has some feeling but not that much in my opinion. that shredding feels so unemotional because its so random. you know what i mean. for example when i listen to jimmy page its like totally different

  • @guitarismysword1 LOL it's random shredding? Dude..you obviously have no clue what you're talking about.

  • @guitarismysword1 And comparing Jimi Page to Yngwie...dude....Jimi Page is nowhere near Yngwie's league.

  • @DimitriVHefley i know.. guitar just isnt extended penis for jimmy. with random shredding i meant that its just fast and doesnt really have emotion you know. its not either melancholic or happy or anything its just fast.

  • @guitarismysword1 Do you even play guitar? You just don't have the ear for the emotion Yngwie has. You really shouldn't be commenting on something you don't understand.

  • @DimitriVHefley i do play guitar and i think malmsteen is fucking insanely good but i dont like his music thats all

  • @guitarismysword1 Ok, then say you don't like it, but don't come on here commenting on how he has no emotion when you haven't developed the ear to hear it. Thanks.

  • I don't know, it really needs something else than 11,000,000 of notes, I mean, this is not a challenge, is it?

  • @rodolfmm bet he wrote the entire piece all by himself

  • @denandy Sure (or probably), but sure!

  • A you don't direct yngwie, yngwie directs you meaning he's never out of time B he only appears to be showing off cuz he's the best so he can't help it C he probly put years into perfecting his craft so fn sue the man for being the best

  • @Penguins7114 this is so very true

  • His gold watch has no hands. He alone tells what plays when and it is timeless.

  • I like how he plays out of timing and no one seems to care. God of guitar my ass. He seems to have completely forgotten about this thing called rhythm.

  • I AM FAN!!!

  • hes ugly and his mother dresses him funny.

and will someone please inform him that he can change his tone anytime. please? ive never heard a guitar player so obsessed with one tone. even brian may changes it up occasionally.

  • @edslides when you can play the guitar like this guy maybe you can talk shit about him :D

  • @23ganchos

never said he wasnt good. hes a great guitar player. just wish he'd try a different tone.

  • @edslides look his is just following the symphony... if the orchesta memebers dont change the tone Yngwie neither

  • He's the best.......no one can play like him...

  • ahahah it sounds like Dante would break through an simply boring symph orchestre and play the hells kitchen

  • The music itself is pretty good, I'm just not a fan of this man's playing style and tone unfortunately. In all honesty I'm just not much of a fan of shred oriented styles in general.

  • Boring after 5 minutes of listening. Everything is here except music.. Fast playing of 3 arpeggios and 3 scales last 30 years.. Come on.. change tonality please!!! :)

  • A real Virtuoso out of his time!

  • Su-fucking-perb!!!

  • Damn he's always using a Fender

  • @MrFaneh Fender is the way to go brother.

  • @MrFaneh well that's his signature guitar called "The Duck" of course he's always on it

  • @MrFaneh yeah thats his signature guitar he has got a million of them at his house all in one room and i literally mean a million

  • @Ps3capt yes he well deserve them , haha, i only have one, i well deserved too, i work my ass off, to buy it, ha
