  • It was a bad idea to put this commercial to air after the Phil Collins version had already been on air and very successful with australian viewers, especially because it is exactly the same apart from the song used.

  • doesnt go with the song at all

  • Noooooo - what have they done to the Cadburys advert? What exactly was the point of changing it? That song was known all over the world. I love this song though but wasn't the singer English - born in Dagenham? I didn't know it was the adopted national anthem.

  • The connection with Cadbury is the background colour purple, Cadburys iconic colour ( I'm not that observant, someone told me) I think the Gorilla thing started and ended with Phil Collin's In the Air tonight

  • God, awful. I'm an Aussie and it's an insult. And anyway, how patronizing of Cadbury.

  • This is crap - what a rip off of the original NZ ad featuring Phil Collins - MUCH better

  • It's lost on me! What does any of that have to do with chocolate - Cadbury or otherwise? Still - I enjoyed the song, and the rhythm!

  • it doesn't have to have anything to do with chocolate. its the fact that you know its for cadbury is enough for them.

  • I didn't spot it was for Cadbury's until it got to the end!

  • what people don't realise is that the tv commercial for australia, with the John Farnham song on it, was actually in sink with the music, unlike what this video portrays with the drum beats.. so no, it was not an epic fail...

  • Nah I saw it on TV and I still thought back then it was out of beat.

  • completely RUINED

    FAIL

  • oooh my! what an awful rip off.

    Jack deserves better.

  • And I thought the English version was craptastic.

  • I was intrigued by this ad with the John Farnham music. (I watched the WHOLE AD) But er, a massive improvement with the eyebrows ad though. Has minimal relation, but unless it works.

  • Way to ruin an unruinable ad

  • GREAT THE BEST GO AUSSIES

  • I think the Deep purple one is the best. The timing is right out compared to the Phil Collins video. My 4 year old LOVES any of them though and it is helping introduce him to new music.

  • Yeah I agree it is out of sync

  • best Commercial ever

  • Shithouse.

  • this ad made me me learn the whole words to that song

  • haha

  • hhahaah

  • One more Aussie who reckons Phil Collins was better

  • same here

  • wtf mariellen cant play drums

  • Were not gonna sit it violence!

    rofl

  • sit in silence

  • ROFL!

    well spotted

  • I never understood why the powers that be here felt that they had to "localise" this ad. It's not as if Phil Collins is so obscure that if any Australian heard this song, they wouldn't know who was singing it. It's about as bad as those overseas ads, mostly Amercian and British, which have the actors dubbed over with Aussie accents. They're not fooling anyone...

  • ...

  • Im Aussie and i agree that the Phil Collins one is WAY better!

  • Yerrp I agree and im aussie aswell

  • I'm so happy that I've finally fonud this version... cuz it's not that the other ones aren't good but this is the best one!!!! If someone can help me, and write me where can I find whole song? cuz it's fabulous

  • i love these ads by cadbury chocolate last time was also good

  • I nearly fell off my chair laughing hysterically the first time I saw this. And since I never saw the "original" Phil Collins version, I had nothing to compare it to. They had to make it more "relevant" for us Aussies, and hey, as long as the add makes you stop whatever you are doing and look at the "box", when you hear the song come on (whether it's Phil or Farnham), then it's done it's required job...:)

  • Christ Aussie's are dumb sometimes ...

  • fuck you

  • I never thought i'd say this but....phill collins version is better.

  • It's not even to the beat of the soundtrack!

Why do Australian ad agencies take good worldwide ads and try to make them 'fit' to the Australian market and in the process make them crap ads?

I blame the clients and the planners.

  • And the other half of the joke in the original ad - a joke the Australian branch doesn't seem to have gotten - is that the "gorilla" is doing a physical impersonation of Phil Collins' drumming as well. With another artist featured, it's nowhere near as good, sync issues aside.

  • I know its just an ad and we'll all forget it in a week but i stills think its one thing for consumers to remix and mashup a great, award winning piece of content, thats awesome marketing and brilliant for the brand.

But for the brand to do it themselves, and as poorly as this is like the cool kid begging to play with you. Weird, disturbing, and you lose that bit of respect.

Do we have to smash John in there for Australians to get it? Give us a little credit and leave a great idea alone.

  • Take a 10 out of 10 advert and make it a zero.

  • because u guys hated this version of the ad. check out mind. the audio is nowhere near john farnham but it still kicks ass.

have a look if you want something different.

  • I've seen this ad several times on tv now and every time it is so disappointing. The original had such atmosphere, it was perfect. Nothing against Farnham, it just doesn't compare to the original in the slightest. Why can't Australia have the original? I'll be muting the TV next time it comes on.

  • I just signed up to YouTube to comment on this piece of crap.

The original was a piece of inspired advertising that worked well in the moment, this is a poor, poor imitation.

Get an original idea Saatchi and Saatchi.

  • wow im pretty sure this was in way better sync on TV. good song why the hell does everyone hate john Farrnam he's awesome....

  • It was direct off a Hard Drive recorder. The TVC is out of sync with the song. I check out the audio & vision in final cut pro & the drums don't sync up with the audio.

  • yeah, its way better on TV though, the actual ad. The origional's probobly better.... lol pause at 0:35, earpeice....

  • The original puts it to shame... Terribly out of sync.

Even the Lithium and Deep Purple version of this created by amateurs completely own this... Bring back Phil Collins. Lol

  • an absolute disgrace. Totally cheap. My opinion of Saatchi has just plummeted.

  • That is really average and a very poor fit.

  • why the hell did they even bother with that piece of sh*t

and were they too cheap to redo do the ad properly instead of making it even crappier by just putting a john sucky farnham overtrack and out of synch!

  • oh wow, the charisma of the ad is completely lost with the addition of john bloody farnham

  • Out of sync. absolutely terrible if I met the person responsible for this poison I would spit on them.

  • a like the phil collins version better... this one he's not drumming in time.... BBBZZZZZZZZZT

  • Brilliant work, truly inspired. Saatchi have trumped Fallon with this incredible version.

  • Comment removed

  • All Saatchi have done is add new music that I guess they think is relevant to the Aussie audience. What is brilliant and inspiring about that? Nothing. Incredible??? It doesn't even sync! I wonder how Fallon feels about this.....or Cadbury for that matter.

  • ouch that is bad.

  • I love this ad, although the other one was better, It's just sooooo random thats why its sooo fucking funny ! lol

  • only thing is - why is it SO SHORT??? i like LONG version!!

  • i love it!!! :) it's better than phil collins :(

  • This is the Lamest, most ridiculous, stupidist thing I have ever seen in a lifetime of watching ads. Why take a semi decent ad and try to sync it with a song which blatently does not fit. And a shit ( and I do mean shit) song to boot. And to all those who don't know, Do Not try to pin that shit on Genisis. That crap is all phil collins.

  • Another Aussie jumping in to say it's crap. It doesn't make sense...

It appears to be a cheap Windows Movie Maker level hack job. Has anyone actually seen this on TV? Or is it a fake?

If it's real, I don't know what Cadbury was thinking. People love the Phil Collins track.

  • It was direct off a Hard Drive recorder. The TVC is out of sync with the song. I check out the audio & vision in final cut pro & the drums don't sync up with the audio.

This has been on air many times on free to air since Sunday Night.

  • Who is the monkey singing?

    Appalling voice.

  • Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney re-edit the original advertisement, nice idea at the week-end.

What were you thinking come Monday morning?

  • saatchi - complete cretins

  • Urgh, this ad sucks.

  • rofl..i'm in australia, and the original ad had the genesis track in it....this one is fucking stupid.

and cadbury aint australian ya fool

  • Why can't we have the UK version? It's not like we don't know Phill Collins.

  • This truely rocks!!

  • I'm an Aussie and this is shit

  • EPIC FAIL. bring back phil

  • Nah mate we didn't invent Beer or BBQ's we just perfected them. Just like you have perfected the moron.

  • good 1 mate personally i like the ad

  • Oh and It's a Phil Collins track not Genesis...

But hey, don't worry it's not like getting your facts wrong when your trying to insult an entire country makes you look stupid or anything.....

  • love it!!! haha!!!

  • Comment removed
