Cliff's version of the song really very good. I've never heard the original version by Brian Hyland because I was too young when it was released and I didn't live in the U.S.
Yeah, I realize that Cliff's version of the song is better than Brian Hyland's version. I bought a CD called "Brian Hyland-Greatest Hits" and heard Brian's version of the song. Cliff has faded from popularity and isn't popular with young music fans in the UK (below age 30) according to what I've read. I think his music should be appreciated by all generations of music fans.
I'm amazed that Cliff Richard even knew about this song - a minor hit for Brian Hyland - and even more amazed that he would record it. His version of it is terrific.
Shame Norrie Paramor liked the ballads so much,if it wasn't for his daughter we'd have been stuck with the dross on the other side of Move it!!Sorry Cliff it had to be said!?
A supeb version here !!!! Cliff was better in the early days than people think !

Gene Pitney, I believe, recorded the 1st version of this tune and Hyland's version uses the same backing track.

This song gives me goosebumps... nearly cried... don't know what makes me so sad? sigh...
loved the sound of his voice in those days... although I still love his unique mature voice.

Yes, it is. Much better than the A-side, The Twelfth of Never.
