@Arrrmando101 GOMAD = Gallon of Milk a Day, which is around 4 litres of Milk a day. But you can start of with maybe 2 litres. BMI is your body weight to height measurement, and 20 is pretty good. 18.5 and below means you are under weight, and I think over 30 is obese. Your aim should be anything between 20-24.9 anything below that is skinny and anything above that is overweight.

@mainohit i agree with you that one does gain alot of weight in short time but i personaly got digestion problems because of the big amount of lactose. also that amount of Milk can be very unhealthy because its possible to develope an Alergic reaction against milk or to get kidney stones. before you start this way of gaining weight - please think about it very well and maby ask your Doctor about the risks.
@mainohit the main side effect of what you speak about is far worse than bad breath. Milk is not a healthfood. Milk is truly one of the most unhealthy things people can put into their bodies. Yes - it may make you gain weight - but this is in no way healthy weight. There are so many acute and long term health disorders directly related to milk (and all animal based products). Get your protein by eating pure amino acids which can be found in in fresh vegetation. And yes - work out.
@mainohit I wonder why do people still use/abuse steroids, it's so easy, you can gain more than 100kg per year this way XD Do you really believe you can gain 4kg of muscle in week? XD To all those people that believe this is possible: Get your head checked. I used to be on a hypercaloric diet ('clean' diet, no steroids), was doing 3 hours of aerobic exercise per day plus 1 hour of weightlifting till I almost fainted, yet I didn't gain that much muscle mass, most of the weight I gained was fat.
@jdkqwerty I gained 10 lbs in 9 days easily but it was fat. If people just want to gain weight and don't care about it being fat or muscle, just sleep a lot and eat a lot. GUARANTEED to make you gain weight. So eat a lot of meat and rice/bread, eat lots of fruits (800 g/ day) and sleep at least 12 hours. This would be best if you have an aunt that force feeds you and always serves you something every hour.

increasing portion size isnt the best idea instead keep portions the same or even reduce them but eat more frequently to allow your body to properly digest the food you eat this way youll get the most out of the calories you do eat but make sure you still increase your total calories to gain weight

Just to let you know, I have a heart condtion, and cant work out as hard as most folks. I do eat a breakfast consisting of Turkey Bacon and eggs. I bring a protein bar to school to eat. Half before lunch, half after. I do do a couple push ups, chin ups, pull ups and i have the perfect push ups to help(HURTS BAD!!)
@Tweldofame ur doin it wrong. Are you lifting hard 3-5 times a week? Are you spacing your meals out every 2 hours? Are you eating something within 1 hour of waking up to boost your metabolism? Are you eating something that slowly digets before going to bed so your body doesn't enter a catabolic state?

55 to 60% carbs. (of which 70% should be low glycemic index and 30% high lycemic index)

Eatin alot of white bread dont prevent u from getting abs if it covers less than 60% ur requirements n u do exersice, but will cause you to be predispose to dyslipidemia, diabetes and other diseases.
Muscles require systematic overloading and recuperation to grow and develop, in order to develop muscle mass is required a well structured program time and patience. (Muscle confusion is myth)
It has not been demonstrated that timing between exercise increase or decrease mass gain, but its a good idea keep exercise time under 60 min ( coz + can cause mental fatigue) also low testo levels rarely affect muscle mass gain, unless they are very low.
Hey I'm trying to put on weight too. I'm 5'9 and 148lbs maybe, my scale is broken so i can't tell. I've been working out regularly since 11/30/10. After my workouts I have some whey protein mixed with water and I eat 5 meals a day,the whey protein being one of them. It's almost two weeks after I started and I know it doesn't happen over night but I don't feel that my body and muscles are expanding. they're pretty toned but they aren't getting bigger. Am I being impatient or I need more calories?
@bigblackracoon You probably wont see results until about 3 months in. Make sure your pushing it!!! If your not making a face, your staying in the same place! Muscle confusion is key, and muscle failure is key. Short rests in between sets and short breaks will increase your testosterone levels.
Feel happy about working out! Don't put too much pressure on yourself. You want to change habits. You were always meant to eat healthy and look good. It's time you started feeling great about yourself!

@mainohit i agree with you that one does gain alot of weight in short time but i personaly got digestion problems because of the big amount of lactose. also that amount of Milk can be very unhealthy because its possible to develope an Alergic reaction against milk or to get kidney stones. before you start this way of gaining weight - please think about it very well and maby ask your Doctor about the risks.

@mainohit the main side effect of what you speak about is far worse than bad breath. Milk is not a healthfood. Milk is truly one of the most unhealthy things people can put into their bodies. Yes - it may make you gain weight - but this is in no way healthy weight. There are so many acute and long term health disorders directly related to milk (and all animal based products). Get your protein by eating pure amino acids which can be found in in fresh vegetation. And yes - work out.

@mainohit I wonder why do people still use/abuse steroids, it's so easy, you can gain more than 100kg per year this way XD Do you really believe you can gain 4kg of muscle in week? XD To all those people that believe this is possible: Get your head checked. I used to be on a hypercaloric diet ('clean' diet, no steroids), was doing 3 hours of aerobic exercise per day plus 1 hour of weightlifting till I almost fainted, yet I didn't gain that much muscle mass, most of the weight I gained was fat.

@jdkqwerty I gained 10 lbs in 9 days easily but it was fat. If people just want to gain weight and don't care about it being fat or muscle, just sleep a lot and eat a lot. GUARANTEED to make you gain weight. So eat a lot of meat and rice/bread, eat lots of fruits (800 g/ day) and sleep at least 12 hours. This would be best if you have an aunt that force feeds you and always serves you something every hour.

For breakfast with the blender i mix curd (protein) with fruit, porridge and milk
Lunch: about x pieces of bread with protein rich stuff on it (peanutbutter, cottonchease, tuna, salmon, eggs, whatever)
Evening meal: pasta, beans or mashed potatoes are good gainers (in combi with meat or fish).
In between the meals take healthy snacks like protein shakes (again mix it with porridge or oatmeal) or a sandwitches with tuna or something.
Drink A LOT like 2 liters milk or water a day.

increasing portion size isnt the best idea instead keep portions the same or even reduce them but eat more frequently to allow your body to properly digest the food you eat this way youll get the most out of the calories you do eat but make sure you still increase your total calories to gain weight

@mariosuperz you dont need as much protein as you think... if you eat a vegan diet, you CAN gain weight. your body needs carbs! protein is sooo over-rated its ridiculous. on a 3000 calorie vegan diet, you can keep your muscle and lose fat, and if you over-eat 3000 calories, you wont get fat, you dont have to balance. you'll get full on muscle.

Heres how im doing it, slowly but surely.
Just to let you know, I have a heart condtion, and cant work out as hard as most folks. I do eat a breakfast consisting of Turkey Bacon and eggs. I bring a protein bar to school to eat. Half before lunch, half after. I do do a couple push ups, chin ups, pull ups and i have the perfect push ups to help(HURTS BAD!!)

55 to 60% carbs. (of which 70% should be low glycemic index and 30% high lycemic index)
25 to 30% lipids.
10 to 15% prots.

Hey I'm trying to put on weight too. I'm 5'9 and 148lbs maybe, my scale is broken so i can't tell. I've been working out regularly since 11/30/10. After my workouts I have some whey protein mixed with water and I eat 5 meals a day,the whey protein being one of them. It's almost two weeks after I started and I know it doesn't happen over night but I don't feel that my body and muscles are expanding. they're pretty toned but they aren't getting bigger. Am I being impatient or I need more calories?

@bigblackracoon You probably wont see results until about 3 months in. Make sure your pushing it!!! If your not making a face, your staying in the same place! Muscle confusion is key, and muscle failure is key. Short rests in between sets and short breaks will increase your testosterone levels.
Feel happy about working out! Don't put too much pressure on yourself. You want to change habits. You were always meant to eat healthy and look good. It's time you started feeling great about yourself!
