For numbers, it really varies from country to country I think. In English there are cardinal numbers and ordinal numbers, in lingustics people call them qualifiers. I guess there are special ways to use a number in Mongolian when counting and indicating a date.
People in the Mongolian state usually don't. Anyway, it's rather remote from pronunciation, cp. Halh dialect/Cyrillic shiree, Horchin dialect shere, Written Mongolian sirege.

Thank you very much for all the videos. How is your husband's Mongol hel? Getting better now?
For English speakers, my understanding is that when we say "3", we're not concerned if it's a noun or adjective. In Mongol hel, if 3 is by itself, it is probably a noun (gurav). If it acts like an adjective, like three hundred, then its "gurvan".

I think you should explain at first why to learn these big numbers.
Because Mongolian currency is small so that these numbers would be very necessary while youR shopping. :D

Yes I agree with that. Very acute observation!
Also if you were to say "three apples" you'd say гурван алим rather than гурав алим.
Very good!
